1. Restore to stock.
2. Place update.zip in root of sdcard
3. Boot into recovery
4. Apply update.zip

Please upload a Nandroid backup when you're done so that those of us who applied the leaked FroYo SBF can upgrade...

Thank you!

You have to load the stock Nandroid because the update looks for the T-Mobile bloatware and specific system strings before allowing the update.

To upload the Nandroid after you've updated, just zip up everything and upload them to any file sharing host like: Multiupload.com

Thanks!

How would I go about uploading the nandroid? And do you mean factory reset or just load my first (stock) nandroid?

I have a nandroid with all the stock bloat. :) first thing i did when i rooted it. So that back up should work?

Do i have to unzip the update? Or leave it zipped in the go.apk.rev folder in backups

Yes, just restore that nandroid...

No need to unzip. Leave it as update.zip and don't put the it in any folder. Just transfer it to your sdcard...

BTW, what firmware is in your nandroid backup? For the update to work, you have to be on the last updated firmware which is: 3.6.360

It looks for that build version and won't continue the update if you haven't upgraded to that version yet...

Lost APN connectivity after upgrade

This is great! I just bought the Defy a few days ago and noticed it had only 2.1 on it. As a recent convert from Sprint with an HTC Evo 4G - there was no way I was giving up Froyo and upgrading to this was a must for me.

So after upgrading and installing all of my apps again - everything is great! I do not have this phone rooted however and I upgraded it by placing the file (update.zip) in the base directory of my sd card and holding VOL DOWN + POWER with the phone off - Voila!

Oddly it seems, last night I was messing with personalization of this device and was getting issues with the Market app and 3G. I switched over to Wifi and had other issues with my access point so I again switched to another. After this was resolved, I continued using the Wifi and downloading additional apps.

Today I wake up and turn Wifi off and now I have no 3G or any network for that matter. I do have excellent signal strength. I have checked to ensure that I am not roaming and are using an automatic provider. I also tried manually selecting T-Mobile as the provider. I can make calls and Wifi works and syncs all data, including Exchange fine. After calling T-Mobile and speaking with general customer support and then tier two support - they were unable to resolve this and wanted me to fully reset the phone. Any ideas here anyone on what services and apps to check or clear data from? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am sure others out there have ran into this.

Change battery mode from saver to performance. I realized during my long road trip yesterday that battery mode is playing none too nice with data. On performance it stays connected and works like it is suppose too. But yes I have noticed as well over the past few days that there are some issues now with 3G and wifi. When it works its great...when it doesn't work...nada.

Slight issue. Loaded fine, and ran through set up. I have several launchers installed, but "Home" is not selectable. I rebooted, and it again asks to choose a launcher, but the default "Home" is not there to pick. That's the one I want. I found it under applications, but I can't choose it to use when I press the home soft key. Can anyone help?
