In my opinion, jb is nearly flawless so far. No lags no stuttering and the tab itself is a breeze now. Its a job well done by asus in keeping us so near to the google experience. My tab was a magnet for fcs on ics, but since the update and root, i think this is hands down the best tab on the market!!! People who still complain will always complain no matter what you give them. Its better you move to the other fruit and lets see how a box seems to you.

Try this it works http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811101

It sets request desktop site as default, no need to tick the box everytime you open chrome.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip.:victory: Just need to wait for a root method for 4.1.1 that doesn't require unlocking...or for Google to wake up and finally implement this feature.

Still getting "Wait Close Report" errors when tasking, eg several tabs. But then I use Firefox beta (for the adblocker)

Otherwise, subtle changes, but definite improvements.

If you're rooted, there are MANY other ways to get adblockers

They changed the nice typewriter sound with a strange popping sound that never comes out of the speaker twice quite the same.

Sliding between home screens no longer produces that cool 3d effect. Its just flat now.

The back/home/apps buttons look brighter

Otherwise I don't notice anything different though I've only been using it 10 minutes

Not impressed so far

biggest disappointment is that i cant switch dock keyboard locale as i used to in ICS

when i press Ctrl -space it indicates that i had change from Greek to English but i type again in Greek WTF.

I mean how could that bug pass from ASUS

I have a few questions regarding the from and the instillation of it as I've never flashed anything to my tablet before (I have lots of times on gs3).

I have just bought the tf300t in Australia and will be taking it back home to the UK in a few months, that shouldn't make a difference due to the model number not being compatible? The only reason I ask is because I know with the gs3 there are different varients sold around the world, and only some roms will work with the non international version (i9300)

With the instillation, do I simply download and install twrp, download one of the versions in the first post and then install via twrp?

Once JB is installed, will I no longer get OTA updates from Asus?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Also, will I need to be rooted in order to install the rom?

Looking on twrp website it says you need to have an unlocked boot loader, which I don't what that is, does that mean rooted?

Also, is there a way to upgrade to JB without a laptop as I'm travelling n Australia.

In order to install recovery and custom rroms you will need to be unlocked. Unlocking is done by using a tool on ASUS website, this will void your warranty. Also, you should be able to update to JB. with the stock rom, asus released it a while ago (not 4.2 yet). If you do update the only way to root your device on jb is via unlocking. If you just want to root your decvice you will need to do it on ICS then using rootkeeper to upgrade to jb. Custom roms are universal for all tf300t, not the same for the 3g and lte versions. As long as your model is tf300t any rom in the development section should work.

You should be able to update to the lastedt asus build, bueno. connecting to wifi and going into setttings about tablet and checking for updates. No needof a laptop.

I just want to install the official JB firmware released by Asus, why do i need to unlock boot loader and void warranty if they produced the new firmware and tested it enough to release it?

I'm not so bothered about rooting, I would just like JB on my 300t

You don't need to root your tab, just check in settings-> about the tab -> upgrade system and you will get the OTA.
What's your model ? ( WW, US, JP ?)

Actually, I am now getting the notification for the OTA, but when I try to download it, it always stays on 0%

The firmwarebivebjust mentioned from the Asus website should be the same firmware right?

The firmware on asus website is the same. Try doing a cold boot and retry downloading the ota.
