I swear to jeebus! I just made the switch from Sprint to Verizon about a year ago. Went from The DNA to the Note 3 when it was released and I have never in my life seen it take so damn long to get an update! I too wish that Verizon didn't rule all when it comes to service.... SMDH!

Quick question, is their any benefits to waiting for the latest OTA or should I go ahead and jump ship rooting installing safestrap and reading a ton of information to install 4.4.2?

Would it be possible to go back to complete stock to take OTA's ever again?

Currently I'm on stock 4.3 and unrooted since my first note 3 went **** & I had to send that one back. I'm just cautious to void my warrenty if I'm not able to get back to stock.

I believe the answer is yes. There wouldn't be countless discussions about how to NOT trip the Knox counter if they hadn't planned to go back to stock at some point.

You should root it and install kitkat yourself. You will be getting the same experience minus all the bloat (that runs in the background) which is most certainly going to hamper the increase in speed we will see from kitkats robust software engineering.

So after a TON of reading and relearning this whole process again, I haven't been flashing ROM's since my old OG note1

Just wanted to say thanks to XDA for the great tutorials and information everyone has posted.

I was in the same boat but what I did was root, install safestrap 3.65 (stable) and installed hyperdrive in slot 1. I also downloaded the deodex leak and firmware but I'm waiting a while to install it. When safestrap is able to create safe working slots in kitkat I may switch... But I may not. Clearly there are things to be gained by kitkat but also things to lose. None are major but mje works perfectly for me so at this point I see no reason to change. I did want to root before the official update because I waited in my moto razr maxx hd and after its jb update no new root method was ever found.

Bluetooth on 4.4.2

So the main reason I was wanting this update so much was in 4.3 I was having a lot of Bluetooth issues. First off being my Beats Studio Wireless headphones would randomly disconnect if I would change the track on the lockscreen or if I used the poweramp widget to change tracks. The only way around this was to use androids Built-in music player, which kinda sucked.

Also I was having issues with Chevy's Mylink system in my 2013 Camaro 1LT. With 4.3 I was having serious metadata issues where track info wouldn't always be updated when the track was changed from the phone or the cars steering wheel buttons. Also the track time (on the car's screen) wouldn't update with the track, it would could to only count to 3 then back to 0:00 / x:xx

So I've been on 4.4.2 for about a day and so far these issues were fixed and are working great. Very happy with this update thanks everyone your guys's help

How's the GPS lock for you? I'm hearing the GPS lock is still faster on 4.3 vs 4.4.2?

Where did you see that the Verizon S3 got KK??? Cause that is incorrect!

Yea so far just the S4 has KitKat. However, today the S3 on Verizon got an update build nc1 to roam on Telus. The Sprint S3 should be getting the KitKat update soon. It was posted on Samsung open resource website the other day. The Note 2 got KitKat in France, Verizon prolly won't push until August or something close to that if it follows the Verizon Note 3 schedule.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I've noticed that WiFi has been running with 100% on-time I was wondering if their is a fix for this?

Settings --> Wifi --> Menu ---> Advanced --> "Always allow scanning"

Uncheck that if you want WiFi to turn off when you have it off.

Google has this feature on so they can use location services for known WiFi hotspots (even if you don't connect to them) while you're traveling.
