I'm currently in Europe and in desperate need of GPS navigation. I have my Galaxy Nexus and Droid. What app can I use to enter a destination and it will show what route to take, as well as possible points of interest along the way.
I don't have any service as these aren't global phones, so it must work just on the GGPS chip. I can download a map or whatever.

Please help

If you're on WiFi, go into Google Maps, hit Menu > Settings > Labs and check the "Pre-cache map area" box.

Then go back to the map, scroll around to the area you want, and long-press on the map, hit the address/street/area and select "Pre-cache map area". It will download a 10 sq mi area around the point. You can do this several times to get an entire city pre-cached if you want. It shows a black box around the area it caches.

I just did this as an example, cached an entire island area south of here where there are a couple state parks I like to visit:

Here's a map cache of Seattle, to give you an idea of how large the area it pre-caches is:

Sygic, Copilot, iGo, Navigon, Ndrive, Route66 and Navitel. All of these support downloading maps and using them offline without any data usage.
