I intend to use LineagoeOS as my main rom. However, my mom is a big pokemon go fan, and while I can pass safetynet, pogo still fails with a GPS error. Strangely ingress still works though.

So I have a twrp back up of the default install I flash when I am with her (after a current backup of course). However, as I was setting up the base install, I got an ota update message.

So my question is should I take the update? Stick with android 6? Is there any negatives that come with a stock upgrade to 7?

Since you have TWRP, you can flash RevivorOS 2 or CreamPie Nougat for debloated stock or Totally stock that's coverted to flashable form by Droidphilev: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/fxz-flashable-stock-npjs25-93-14-4-t3623010 . This way, you can easily roll back to MM if needed. The Nougat's modem and bootloader are backward compatible to MM. Fingerprint sensor may not be (backward compatible) so you may have to fastboot flash MM to regain fingerprint sensor in MM. Fingerprint sensor will work in stock Nougat.

EDIT: Both G4 and G4 Plus are "ATHENE" so roms should be interchangeable so don't worry about G4 or G4 plus. Small changes in RAM and Storage and fingerprint sensor is only differences.

I did notice that g4 plus is the same + fingerprints sensor,, and have been trolling the plus forum too :).

And thanks, I will go check out those links. Was just afraid that the bootloader might change on update :)
