No, this one. Stop the movie at 1.13

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHogaWu8kZc

Is "Klyde" Good?? I guess the price is.
Ah, thanks, was more interested in seeing the unit in general - having problems communicating with the Chinese, so still havent got my unit yet, have to result to watching youtube videos of it !

Klyde isnt any better or worse than the RoadMaster or HuiFei/KGL ones - no one has reported any specific problems with one make over another, at least not yet.

Ok, not with the Witson company i guess. Communication with those guys is not bad at all. I only think about one thing for not ordering a klyde... No software available in this topic. Maybe order directly from HuiFei. About 80 dollars more...

Yay! Took a chance on a 128Gb kinston flash drive, it works with the headunit - busy filling it up with music.

Only down side, its all my CDs from almost 10 years ago - so the music is ancient :p

I know a couple of have been mentioned, but what's the best music player for these headunits? Power<something>?

sygic on the google play store incompatible?

The first page says that Sygic woks well on the HuiFei unit -- but the Google Play store won't let me install it -- says that it is incompatible.
Any ideas?

A number of apps work well, however they are not officially supported by the developers on these devices. That's why you can't install them from the Play Store. You will have to side load them. There are a number of ways to do this. Google sideloading apps.

Thanks saifbarry.

Ok, I can sideload it -- but does anyone know where I can download the *official* Sygic (trial) apk?
I'd like to try it before I buy it.
If that's not possible, then if I buy sygic directly from them, will they give me a direct apk download so that I can sideload it?

The only apk downloads I see are for illegal copies.. I'm looking for the official version.

Yes it is, all 3 known manufacturers firmware is available at the beginning of this thread.

Using Chrome go here : http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/

Find the app you want on the Playstore then copy the url to evozi, it will generate a download link for the apk, works with any app from the playstore.

I got the following wiring diagram and screen shot from one of the sellers. It appears there is only wiring for a subwoofer but no amp control. Specifically my F-150 audiophile system (see attached) has pinouts for "Subwoofer amplifier - Enable" and "Shield" but I don;t see anything coming off the radio that would hook up to this.

Does this mean that external amps do not connect to this unit? The AN 21U units have it, although the one I have sounds like crap. Has anyone connected this to an external amp? Am I missing something?
Please can anybody send for me wire scheme for connection HU and DVB-T(2) external receiver. As show on photo from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53522089&postcount=1021

Thanks

There isn't a best, but whatever works best for you. I use Poweramp, but Playerpro is nice too. Some like Google Music, others may prefer something else. For the most part, you can try before you buy with music player apps. And there's quite a few free ones on the play store that are decent too.

well, I took the plunge and decided to try and add an external mic to mine. at first I was shocked at the shoddy build quality. But the more I started looking at it, it's not bad, just that I've never seen so much glue on normally removable connections in my life. Epoxy on the ribbon cables. Some rubber type glue on most of the boards. Took me a little off guard. Because of that I couldn't really remove the small board that the mic is tucked behind, so I had to go the route of guessing. Well, my first guess was wrong. I guessed that it was the red and white wire (normal right and left colors). I cut the wire at a place I knew I could patch it back up with a little solder and some heatshrink tubing. Well, the unit wouldn't boot after. So I patched it back up, and tried the black/red wire soldered directly to the board. That was it.

I chopped the end off a headphone extension to act as my new port. Ran it through the back, since it was a stereo cable and the mic was wired mono I soldered right and left together. Gave it a dab of hot glue to keep it in place. The kicker is, I thought I had a nice mic I was planning on using laying around, but I can't find it to save my life. So I ordered one off amazon. So no testing yet. I'll keep you posted once my mic shows up, or if I find mine.

Mystery connectors

So i installed my new HuiFei Android 4.2.2 head unit, and I'm very happy with it -- everything works well.

There were a few connectors on the unit that were unlabeled and I had no idea what they were for. They are obviously not that important but I was wondering if anyone had any clue about them.

Note that this is a model specific for a Suzuki Sx4, so the main power connector fits directly into my car radio connector.

The three main mystery things I'm curious about are:

1. On the main connector is a branching off weird molex-looking connector -- any idea what this is for?
2. On the main connector is a metal male RADIO ANTENNA plug, that looks nearly identical to the one from the car that I plugged into the main unit.
3. On the secondary smaller connector is a ton of unneeded rca female plugs (lots of audio outs, etc.); there are also two bare wires (red and black) for "camera". I know these aren't for my rear backup camera, because there was a different orange wire on the main connector for my tail light signal to turn on the rear camera, and a separate yellow rca input for the rear camera video.
4. There is also a single bare wire for "break" which i left unconnected.

Anyone have any insight on these mystery wires/connectors?

ps.
I can see some people in this thread are looking for info on where to buy their units; just to add another data point, i got mine on Aliexpress from GreenYi Technology co; I have only ordered this one thing from them so I only have that to go from, but the item arrived fast (about a week) and was packed well, worked perfectly, and came with everything exactly as described -- with the following exceptions:The internal microphone on my unit is of such bad quality as to be unusable; it does get sound but its mostly pure static -- however it comes with an external mic that i haven't tried yet. Also, the gps microsd slot spring stopped working, card can be removed and inserted by friction.

You said it was the black/white wire... You mean the black/red? That looks super easy to get to, and nice big solder pads. I might try that. I need to figure out where I can stash a mic, or if I can wire in my cars built in mic.

Thanks
All I did is connect as follows :

HU (RCA conn.) ----- DVB-T2 Tuner (RCA conn.)

Aux In (L) (White) ----- Audio Out (L) (White)
Aux In (R) (Red) ----- Audio Out (R) (Red)
AV-IN (Camera In) (Yellow) ----- Video OUT (Yellow)

I grabbed red and yellow power cables of the DVB-T2 tuner together and wired them both to the Acc. 12V and the black one to ground, this way your batt. cannot drain while the car is not in use.

After that you can use the AV-In app to watch DVB-T(2) television. If you wired the "brake" lead to your handbrake (to keep the car stationary), you can only watch if the brake is on (the only legal way). If you connect the "brake" lead to ground you can also watch while driving (although it is crappy view) and only in the back is allowed then!

Yeah, thanks for catching that. I did mean red and black. And yeah, the solder points were super easy. On my unit its just 4 screws that pop the whole front off and everything is right there.

Has anyone gotten a 64gb or larger SD card working? I tried one and it just kept trying to format the memory card.

I saw someone they got a 128gb flash drive working. I was gonna try an external hard drive, see if that works. If so maybe I'll get a big flash drive

Linux (remember Android is a Linux derivative) can read up to 1TB hard drive or SD card (if they were available), some times there is a software defined limit, but this can be removed.

Jesus, what a glue fest !!

BTW, something I forgot to mention a few pages back, whoever makes the GS units is pretty much guaranteed to be a company with a name consisting of 2 words, the first beginning with a "G", the second with an "S", or something very similar, as Kai Ge Le = KGL, RoadMaster = RM, Klyde = KLY etc. So we can be pretty certain that Hot Audio are re-sellers rather than manufacturers.

I have the unit pictured in the top, and it performs the same as the original huifei units, same firmware and everything, so I think its just a different version look with no different functions. I kinda wish I went with the second as it looks more factory, and well the buttons on mine when you press them they click loudly and feel a little cheap. Guess all user preference

As for the canbus, I think the units that come with these radios aren't 100% complete / compatible with all vw/Audi. I ended up replacing mine due to the wacky power issues that you'll see I posted about in this thread. After doing so all accessory power perform as the stock radio once did.

The stock canbus unit didn't fully do 2 way with my car, my MFD display on my dash would lock up if I selected the audio option to ne displayed. Now that option isn't there as my axxess canbus isn't 2 way. Which doesn't effect me as I never used the MFD display in my dash for that, and my car doesn't have anything fancy for hvac controls

Just wanted to chime in the third option is this hotaudio (GS) one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Pure...lo-Passat-Jetta-Tiguan-Touran/1910979419.html

I've finally gotten it setup and as I learn the quirks and workarounds I am very happy with it. I chose this one because its the closest match to stock (coming from RCD-510), with the volume knob and all. AFAIK, this is the only VW unit that has the volume knob. I haven't had any issues with canbus. Steering wheel controls, acc power, etc all just work. It's one way only, so no climatronic or MFD display. The GS/Hotaudio units are also the newest units to hit the market, and have the most recent firmware. It also has the front usb port, which was another factor to me.
