Has anyone managed to get the Klyde launcher and widgets(radio,mp3) working on a Huifei KGL unit?If yes, please share the needed files with me.
Not as far as I am aware. but I cant see any reason why it would not work.

I m sure someone in this thread months ago managed to get the Android update (but NOT the MCU, that was left as standard) working from one unit on another make.

There are links to the firmwares for all versions at the begining of the thread, you can download the Klyde one, unzip it and try the launcher apk on yours.

Hello everyone, I am using this unit on my Golf MK6 since 15th of may and without any firmware update, I had some issues with the backup camera, image was rolling constantly, but solved the problem with a CCTV ground loop isolator after many tries with different hardware, if someone is interested here is the isolator:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/161311794235
You also need 2 different BNC to RCA connectors for this isolators.

Where did you connect the 12Volts for the reverse camera? In my car the 'cam in' red powercable from my HU doesn't supply the voltage when switching the car in reverse. Did you also ground the pink brake cable as mentioned in another post?

I bought this fakra adapter that fits and works okay on my Golf mk6 variant:

ebay.de/itm/160768506253?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The first adapter i bought didn't fit the double fakra that is in the golf mk6, besides the reception with this first adapter was very poor. Another problem with these fakra adapters (both of them) is that the pin inside the connector is pushed inside when connecting the fakra connector. I hope you understand what i mean :) So pay attention on the pin inside the connector of the adapter cable when connecting them to the Original VW cable in your car.
Do you have another link to your adapter? I'm getting "This page has been moved or is no longer available" on the ebay link.

Nevermind, got the link working. I have the same adapter... two of them actually :) I have taken my dash apart 100 times now adjusting things, I've definitely got a good connection on the adapter pins. So on that note... which radio do you have in your car? KGL/KLD/GS?

Last edit: I see you said you have the same radio as Reptile-X (KGL). So you have no problems with your radio reception?

I got the +12V from right back-up light, I didn't use the power cable from the Unit, and I always ground the brake wire :p just to avoid the limitations you could get with handbrake on.

The reason I didn't use the cam in wire is because it is not needed and it is also not a power wire, it needs to be powered so it can switch the screen to the camera, but our unit does that itself when you put in reverse gear since it has CAN-Bus, so the red cam in wire is totally useless for us.

XDA didnt allow me to put URL's because not having 10 posts. but now I am over this restriction :cyclops:
this is the link directly to the UK ebay shop instead of the german link.

I know what you're talking about. Testing and installing apps on the HU in your warm and convenient home, then putting it back in the car and so on, and so on  Could be your fakra connectors are damaged because of too much (de)connecting, they are not meant for this.

Next to this Huifei KGL, I have an AN21U also. For that AN21U I bought two Fakra adapters, the last adapter (that I linked) worked the best. On my Erisin 9401 I connected this Fakra adapter and found out the FM reception of the 9401 is much much better then on the AN21U. The basses are a bit strong, but I prefer stronger basses then poor reception. Besides the main reason I chose for this Huifei was the ability to use Tomtom navigation. This wouldn't work on AN21U: no GPS reception. Where Igo and Google maps received GPS, Tomtom couldn't.
GPS reception on Huifei by the way is much better on Huifei then on AN21U. I even receive GPS inside my house. That was almost impossible with AN21U.

Has anyone considered putting a second battery in their car to allow for using the headunit while parked?

My E39 M5 is very finnicky when the battery starts to get low, I get weird alarm problems that can be embarrassing in the middle of the night. Because of this I dont even use the head unit for a few seconds unless the motor is running.

Anyone got a solution for this?

Where is everyone buying this unit from? Anyone bought from amazon? I just want the universal version.
Some are buying from eBay, others from AliExpress. I got my universal KGL (which happens to be for sale) from an AliExpress seller, and my new Toyota-specific KGL from a different AliExpress seller.

Check out VTS. Makes editing and resigning apks pretty easy. Let me know if you need any pointers/help with it.
Alright, so I have edited the AVIN program so that it installs and shows up as SiriusXM, even have the exclamation mark image changed to how I want it. The only thing that wont change, no matter what I do is the same icon thats displayed in the apps list, the icon I made shows up fine when I got to uninstall/install but when it goes to showing in the launcher it shows the old icon. Is this file stored some place other that in the apk file?

Ive included a copy of what I have if anyone wants to use it with their SiriusM radio via the AVIN app, you will likely need to rename/remove the stock AVIN app for this to install.

Also a photo of the app running

@ Reptile-X: I am on 'MCU.img' 1.77 with 'update.img' 1.99 and i still have 2 way can (with doors open and closed icons on my HU). I can recommend this upgrade.
Hi ev1966, sorry to quote you again, I have a question regarding the upgrade combo you use, zorantoma mentions here about radio stations showing on his cars MFD, does that work on your upgrade too? Since he is using 2.02 FW.
Also he was using KGL4, which one did you use, did you also use xposed framework, he mentions about that here

Thanks :)

Two way Canbus

I don't know exactly what people mean with two way canbus on VW models KGL is 'working'. What does exactly work then? and what does work with one way canbus?:

1. Airconditioning display on HU
2. Steering wheel control by canbus (volume up and down, and track up and down, telephone call button)
3. Reverse signal, to display reverse camera when putting car in reverse
4. Display on high end display of the car (next to speedometer) of radiofrequency and music track
5. Control of front lights of the HU
6. Dimming the screen when switching on the headlights of the car.
7. Doors open and closed.
8. Parking sensors
9. .....

I have an ES9401 Huifei KGL (mcu177, FW199) and for me number 1,2,3,5,6 and 7 work. (number 8 i see occaisonally but i dont have parking sensors)
Is there anyone who has display on high end screen of a VW (MFD) working, who can take a picture of Radio and Music app on their VW display? What mcu and fw are you on?

On my AN21U this display feature worked but couldn't display RDS info from radio or track and artistname from mp3's. It just displayed radio frequency and track number and track time, so very basic.

Almost all those point are one way, except point 4. The car is communicating with the radio is one way and radio back to car is together 2 way, that's how these HU's are advertised and till FW 2.02 it was not working, with radio communicating through canbus you should see the station and RDS information on your car’s MFD (Multi Function Display) also navigation information like arrows and warnings come through canbus, but I don’t think navigation part will work any soon but it is possible with other brand radio's like Pionneer and Kenwood with a Axxess canbus adaptor to show navigation information on VW and some other cars.

To expand your list:
7. Navigation on MFD
8. Adjusting ECC Airconditioning through HU
9….

I think we only can dream about those last two I mention but that’s what works with dual canbus, also when I connect VCDS (VAGCOM) I get communication errors whit the radio when I check fault codes on the car.

But I like to see some pictures from a VW MFD too, maybe zorantoma can post those?

I am adding an image from the advert where I got my HU and indeed radio information is very basic there:

For me the display on the car MFD didnt work on mcu/FW 1.99. I havent tried 2.02 yet. In all cases when there was a choice of mcu i used kgl4. On other versions hardware keys were not right. I don't know what xposed framework could contribute to having the MFD working? Maybe it was just the reboot that did the trick for Zorantoma?

What interests me: could it be that after downgrading mcu and FW some bits (read functionality) of newer versions stay active?

You are right about two way canbus , it says in what directions communication can take place. Number 4 is the only one from HU to car.
This depends on software and not on hardware i guess (don't we have all the same canbus adapter for the car brand we have?)

The points you are adding are wishes for future updates.
What i am curious at, is what functions do we have at the moment? I added a number 7and 8 myself: 7: doors opened and closed 8: parking sensors

I guess the info in VW MFD is like you mention in your picture. Indeed very basic. It isn't a musthave for me.

Those points were possible things which work with 2 way canbus indeed not really whishes, but you are right we need to focus on things which work now, we need more information from people who claims what works and what dont.

I got mine from Erisin, they mostly have radio's of this 4.2.2 series for different brands. Dunno they have universal ones based on android 4.2.2.

Advantage buying from them could be (when you are living in Europe): no risk for paying import tax because they can send from UK.

Some launchers allow you to choose your own icons, could try installing Nova or something ?
