On my unit I can kill any app with the power button, the power button on my radio kills or also works as the back button

Some launchers allow you to choose your own icons, could try installing Nova or something ?
Hmm never really thought of that, shall try that and see, I use apex on my phone. May try that on the radio and see what happens

I use Nova on my phone, but I ve used Apex in the past, cant remember whether they both allow you to change them, or whether its just one of them, but have a play with them and other maybe launchers and it might sort your problem out :)

Also check that the launcher didn't cacne the icon. Clear the launcher's cache and see if it's fixed after that. :good: :)

And this means that there will be 2 radio apps in the app drawer ?
Exactly, then you will have 2 radios. (I usually change the icon so you can differentiate them).

Then, if you want the radio to work with the "Radio" button, you will have to replace the stock app with the one called OEM.

Next to this Huifei KGL, I have an AN21U also. For that AN21U I bought two Fakra adapters, the last adapter (that I linked) worked the best. On my Erisin 9401 I connected this Fakra adapter and found out the FM reception of the 9401 is much much better then on the AN21U. The basses are a bit strong, but I prefer stronger basses then poor reception. Besides the main reason I chose for this Huifei was the ability to use Tomtom navigation. This wouldn't work on AN21U: no GPS reception. Where Igo and Google maps received GPS, Tomtom couldn't.
GPS reception on Huifei by the way is much better on Huifei then on AN21U. I even receive GPS inside my house. That was almost impossible with AN21U.

Interesting the reception was different between the two units using the same antenna/adapter. AFAIK, both the AN21U and the new HuiFei both use the same radio chip. Some of it might be due to software difference, but also hardware implementation.

For me the display on the car MFD didnt work on mcu/FW 1.99. I havent tried 2.02 yet. In all cases when there was a choice of mcu i used kgl4. On other versions hardware keys were not right. I don't know what xposed framework could contribute to having the MFD working? Maybe it was just the reboot that did the trick for Zorantoma?

What interests me: could it be that after downgrading mcu and FW some bits (read functionality) of newer versions stay active?

You are right about two way canbus , it says in what directions communication can take place. Number 4 is the only one from HU to car.
This depends on software and not on hardware i guess (don't we have all the same canbus adapter for the car brand we have?)

The points you are adding are wishes for future updates.
What i am curious at, is what functions do we have at the moment? I added a number 7and 8 myself: 7: doors opened and closed 8: parking sensors

I guess the info in VW MFD is like you mention in your picture. Indeed very basic. It isn't a musthave for me.
I'm interested in whether anyone of us has radio frequency shown in the MFD as presented in the advertisement and can present a picture of it.
Otherwise it looks like as being an advance notification of something which is planned to be implemented in one of the future releases.

Notes: (1) Some previous WIN CE units definitely were able to perform this because I had such an HU previously.
(2) Recently I saw a re-sellers advertisement who defined "Two-Way CAN bus" as "Support of SWC", i.e. no word a bout HU -> MFD.

Hmm so I have an xposed framework + appsetting question, how can you tell if its working ? I've tried to adjust the dpi on various programs and nothing seems to be changing ?
It doesn't work on mine. (v1.77)

I tried to manually modify lcd.density at /system/build.prop and i've got a nice bootloop

Hmm interesting, I recall on 1
86 I could adjust Google Play music and it adjusted fine, tried to adjust sygic today and it won't do a damn thing lol.

If anyone has xposed framework + appsetting working properly with the dpi adjustment, can you forward me your framework release info, think im rrunning a beta version that was on their site, perhaps that's my issue.

Finally i solved bootloop just flashing again v1.77 from stock recovery.
I was using all the day getting the unit usable again. Here i go some thoughts about all the time expended:

  • nandroid backup in TWRP format doesn't work for anything. Becouse stock recovery doesn't know how to handle it.To convert all this *.win files to and update.zip you need a factory signed zip.
  • it doesn't worth it by now to flash TWRP recovery becouse you lost the factory update
  • Viper4Android is a killer EQ. Even for me that i have a Mosconi DSP power amplifier.
  • Google play works with SWC like a charm if you disable Stock music app. LOT OF THANKS TO @KeiserSozeyFr. You are my hero!!

Thanks zorantoma, looking good there! You are on FW 2.02 and MCU KGL4 2.02 if I am not mistaken, also you had to root I guess for Xposed framework, did you use any module in Xposed?
Actualy i'm on Fw2.02 and MCU KGL1.77 because my canbus stoped working with MCU 2.02. I only use Gravity box for xposed and the list stile music app.

Is there a way to kill/quit the radio app the radio app when starting PowerAmp?
only way i managed to stop the radio is to start the video palyer or the normal music player
If you're using a mode button via SWC, XposedMTC exits the radio app when switching to Poweramp (or other Music app of your choice). I suppose I could write something else that would watch for Poweramp launch intent and then send the proper av_channel switches to mute the radio output.
