No worries. I like the brainstorming aspect as well. I too have auto headlights, but they often will turn on when under overpasses for long periods of time, or when in parking garages. Those sort of situations I would think you wouldn't want the HU to dim since there's usually lots of indirect lighting still available outside. I'll have to think some more about the process flow and in which situations the timed values should take over vs. the headlight switch. GPS will be used to just set the start/end times of the dimming period (at user's discretion).

It would be nice if the auto headlights themselves could be synced with the sunrise/sunset. That would solve a lot of problems :D

You are right, I too find the automatic headlights little to jumpy. It might even cause lag when the HU tries to keep up with brightness adjustment while driving a tunnel in and out. Automatic headlights suppose to be intelligent with tunnels and garages but it doesn’t work like that.

I think GPS option would be the best, I am not sure if other users have their GPS on all the time, besides together with java it is a lot better when it calculates automatically.

You are doing a great job to get this units integrated with the car :good:

Hi,
Is there anyone who would be able to redo the original radio app to swap the band and the RDS fields around? I'd really like to have the station name the main thing on the display.

Thanks
Rocko

Headrest Monitor

Hi again ;

I do not like to double post but i m looking for an answer why the Huifei works with headrest monitors only on dvd but not with other 3rd party video players?

Whether it is related with MCU or software/hardware ? And if there is a solution the problem?

Thanks in advance

It's already been done. Check out the radio app on the first page by 1-2-hak. I've been using it for a while and it works great....

Ok. .. after reading a lot of page on this thread and every where else. ..i see HuiFei seams to have a lot of little bugs!
But not roadmaster. ..
Is there any site i can order a good head unit ?
I see aliexpress.com is selling some roadmaster. . But really expensive !

There is a LOT of unit out there, and i see some new every days. ..
But i cannot see anywhere but here to get help choosing one !
I am very sick of my pioneer system with bultin gps (tomtom i think) that always freezes :(

Thank you for your help
The Roadmaters do seem very good and the HuiFeis do have some bugs.

But Roadmaster's range is quite limited though and they are more expensive, plus I think their launchers look cheap (although they could be changed quite easily).

Dont forget the Klydes though, they seem to have less problems than the HuiFeis, plus the best launchers and widgets (in my opinion anyway).

I think ptclabs has got a GS unit and installed HuiFei software and reports that the combo is better than the HuiFei units, so thats another option.

The unit in the link you posted is Android 4.4 and quadcore (no processor manufacturer named, maybe it uses Rockchip's RK3188 ?), so isnt related to the 4.2.2/dual core units in this thread.

Thanks, but I'm after the original skin just with the RDS and band data swapped.
Thats also in the same post, albeit with a blue colour scheme. Its very easy to modify it yourself if you want the original red theme, do a thread search for instructions.

Speaking of which anyone ever try flashing 4.4 on to one of these things? Seems most of the modifications are just apps on top anyways. I am not brave enough

They have 3066 4.4 out

It has the right kernel for it already on mine with 1.91 gs. I guess I could get brave one day and flash the system and see if it restarts. I have had it downloaded on my desktop staring at me.

anyone know what these settings do?
I think MTCSync is an older launcher. It uses the line-in audio source, so maybe it was like their version of Ford SYNC?

The other app shows additional info about the car via canbus. TPMS, fuel level, etc. Don't know if it actually works though, as I don't have canbus.
