Thanks. Installed and playing with it now. One thing I've done though is modify or repartition the internal memory to better suit my needs. I've made the internal memory 3gb vs 1gb as I was constantly getting warnings about space running out.

I'm no expert, I just found some instructions online regarding modifying the parameters file in the update image and used rk image tools to do so. It looks like it worked

If anyone needs the update with the larger internal memory mod, let me know. I will update it once I've tested it for a bit to make sure there aren't any issues.

Yes mine is the RK3066 and its from KGL. I never could get root on 4.4.4. ADB also does not work at all. The screen resolution is just scaled from the 800 x 480, so no real benefit of having the 1024 unit

But with an update image and some time, I can fix all this

I have updated my MCU from KGL 1.77 to KGL4 2.09
I think I have lost "lane assisting " in reverse + parking sensors radar
illumination is always on
car service is still not working
at least the buttons are working properly
I didn't test the sound or the radio
I have a Skoda Octavia mk2, 2005, and the climatronic is not showing on the unit, doors used to show on 1.77 MCU.
I have selected 1.VW SKODA simple in factory settings. I have tried other ones but no luck.
if any hints to make them work, will be great.
Also I have installed the KK rooted, The only thing that I saw is that I have to wait like 5-6 sec before my touch screen is working(compared to the original KK)

You tried EVERY VW group CAN Bus setting (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat) ?

I ve had to wait for the touchs creen to start working in 4.2, non roote 4.4 and rooted 4.4.

Didn't imagine that we ever would get to Android 4.4 ever with our 4.2 Units - but sometimes dreams come true.
And now even with a pre-rootet Image!

Therefore a *BIG* *THANK YOU*

I couldn't wait until sunrise and just went out to my car and finally*) flashed (at 01.00 am) update.img (running KGL 1.99 mcu) successfully.

*) After first flash attempt (update.img on GPS SD-Card) unit repeatedly went into recovery after boot with an error message ('E: ...') at the bottom of the screen that some configuration/settings is missing (sorry, don't remember exact message). Got soemhow nervous at that Moment but after two re-boots then tried a recovery within the recovery screen - and after update.img was flashed a second time hooooray - I'm on KK too!!!

I've attached my 'modded' version of the recently uploaded pre-rooted 4.4.2 800x400 update.img.

It is exactly the same as originally uploaded, with the exception that I've increased the internal memory to ~3GB, which has obviously decreased SD card storage.

I've tested it so far and I don't seem to be having any real issues related to the 're-partitioning'.

One thing I had to do while updating today was format/erase the SD card partition from the settings menu. Not sure if everyone will have to do it based on the SD card size changing. Once I formatted, it showed up properly.

updated to mcu 2.09 and KK4.4 on KGL-7618. everything works fine except the volume and tuner/next track knobs. They now to to be rotated opposite to how they used to be, and it sort of seems like something is still reading it the same as it used to be (conflicting inputs)

I just put KK + 2.09 on my KGL unit.

Still got same steering wheel bug 3 times up/down on volume/track, 10% working Canbus on VW MK5 2008, the most i get is door open status with 1-3 sec lag, still no info from climatronic or any radio/audio info in the dashboard.

But i like the KK look, also the radio/media player apps.

Unfortunately, I think updating GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES has caused an issue...for me at least.

After installing GMAIL, HANGOUTS, YOUTUBE, etc...I get an "Unknown issue with Google Play services." error. Doing some research, it seems this is a common issue, and the common 'fix' is to uninstall the Google Play Services update, open the apps, and then update Google Play Services again.

Unfortunately, this is not possible with your current file since it's base is the current version.

Am I the only one having this issue?

I ran into that error as well.

I had this issue on my phone but not on my HU, this seems to be a bug of Google Play services that can happen even if installed as an update...
To fix it you can navigate to /system/priv-app/ with a root explorer and click the apk to re-install it as an update/user app and delete system app then reboot.

I'm quiet sure google will fix it in the next Google Play services update
