I just found that the AliExpress website doesn't allow shipping to my state (WA) due to legal restrictions with their escrow service...

Gotta find another way to get this unit!

One other side note. I did disconnect the Reverse wire from the back of the radio. When the radio is in "Rear Camera" mode, all sounds stops. This needs to be fixed. As I currently do not have a rear view camera. It was simply looking at the radio wiring diagram and snipping that one wire.

Not sure how quickly you want this unit, but Im in talks with the manufacture about becoming a US distributor for them. I am starting a side business, that having a product line like this kinda makes sense. But really wanting to see what they are doing with root, and the few requests before I commit.

However if you really want it, I am setup to take credit cards now, and can ask if they will sell me 1 unit. Just not sure I what pricing I will get on it.

I was able to extract SettingsProvider.apk and sent it to WonderEkin, to see if the same exploit is available for this unit like the AN-21U

Hello everyone, I also jumped ship from the AN-21 U thread. I am ready to make purchase of unit with confirmation of root exploit. I am purchasing for a Ford Expedition 2004, so I guess I should be looking for the universal head unit found here

http://kaigele.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-220757411/Universal_DVD_Series.html

I believe this is keylo website, but not sure. Any comments or help is appreciated.
Yes. that is keylo's website.
They do a specific unit for a Ford Expedition, KGL 7302, but it's only for 2007-2010 models so I don't know if this will fit yours...I suspect not.
Best thing is to send her an email.

Is there not a setting to keep sounds on on reverse like on the AN-21 and OUKU? I would be interested to see what settings pages are available and what possibilities they offer (SWC, front panel buttons, sound settings etc.)

No there is not a settings, nor is there is a setting to re-map the hard buttons on the front of the unit (outside of the GPS button, but even this has it limitations, has to be an app you install, so can not link it Google Maps, since we can remove it without root and then re-install). Although that would be great. :)

Maybe Keylo can chime in on this as well.

Engineering password

If anyone needs the engineering password in the settings menu it is "126"

Note: please be carefully what you change. You CAN brick your unit by changing certain settings.

You can enter factory recovery by pressing the reset button and the power button down at the same time for about 10 seconds. It takes a couple of times to do it, but it does work. Working on getting CWM Recovery installed, from there, we can root from it. :)

Becareful in here. Not really the settings I was hoping for, but I changed my CANBUS setting to AUDI/VW from NONE and saved. Now my steering wheel controls no longer work. I tried changing back to NONE, no luck. Tried a basic factory reset, no luck. Think I am going to have to wipe the cache and reset that way to fix. :-/

Was able to get my steering wheel controls back by setting CanBus back to None and doing a reset with the reset button. :)
Glad you got it back..... :)

Makes you wonder what some of these settings are for.....
You've got an audi, right ? So you would expect to have this set to audi....but no !

Are you able to check on Keylo's post about keeping sound while in reverse?

I just put my order in today - should be about a month I guess before it comes in!

Where do you live ? Antarctica ?

Usually takes less than a week to arrive.......
Nope. That sounds cold. I live in balmy and dry Seattle

While emailing with Keylo about the unit I was told that it would ship around the end of March due to availability of parts (mentioned earlier in this thread)

Ok, We have ROOT!!!! I actually did it on my lunch break, as Im working at a client's all day today, so I want to check its stability, etc before releasing the details. But I have verified SuperUser and Busybox are installed. It was done using a chinese APK that a friend of mine turned me on too. Once I see the unit is still stable, I will post details. Im also going to decompile the APK and check for any thing left behind that shouldnt be. :)

Next up to install CWM recovery and pull a backup of the rom. That way we can start tweaking this bad boy with faster boot times, move Google Maps out of System, so can map it to the GPS button, etc. :)

I did find the setting, but as I have already cut my reverse wire, I havent pulled the radio back out to re-connect it. :)

Man I am very happy I went ahead and waited for this instead of the WinCE model... Thanks for your work on the root - definitely subscribed and trying to get my knowledge up!
