NEW May 24, 2015 for 800X480
Only for RK3066 800X480

++++ Completely reworked the whole firmware "with zero" (the base - the factory firmware is dated April 24, 2015.)
++++ Root there, but now it is no control manager Root SuperSu (has been removed). Root will be provided with all the programs that need it automatically. If someone is not satisfied, then download the SuperSu Manager and install it yourself.
++++ Remove program Chrom (is a standard browser)
++++ Added to the Settings section for developers.
++++ Changed the status bar and notification blind.
++++ Removed icon screensaver (moon) in the status bar.
++++ Added a module for Xposed from MVG-V70 with Russian Forum (I thank him very much for the good job) mtc-keys, which allows action to remap the buttons radio.
++++ Reworked menu completely reboot.
++++ A number of other fixes, additions and speed optimization system boot.

After the firmware immediately go to Settings, Restore and Reset-Reset and do reset to the factory and put a tick - to delete all data from the SD card.

Who jumps at the sound of speed when driving, it is necessary to go to the settings MTC Service (Car) and turn off the sound speed compensation (GPS).

Malaysk, please, can you ask MVG-70 if is possible to add actions like back, home, etc to buttons in mtc-keys and not only apps?
with that posibility i could flash klg3 into my HU that recognize more canbus parameters and remap the incorrect positions for the buttons.
I tried by remapping apps and it's working really really fine! I love it.
Thanks in advance

my headunit is originally RK3066, when i get my RK3188 board am i still able to get in recoverymode in order to flash a RK3188 image?
or do i still need the RK3066 board first to flash a new image?
Lol, come on think about it !! How could you have 2 boards in your unit when it only has one socket for it ! ?? :)

As DSA says, just swap them over and youre done. (DONT panic if its the wrong screen res for your device, just go into recovery and flash an image with the correct res).

hi!!
any news about that?
keep us informed ...
and if that person need more informations or he wants to know what i understand that does not work apparently let me know
thank you again
No, it was months ago, youd have to do a thread search to find it.

Oh this is a good question!
I guess you will be able to get into recovery with the new board. But I don't know.
If not you might need to get that updated also? Or is recovery probably stored on any chip on the SoM?
Its on the flash chip on the SoM !

Ah so the firmware image itself is also on the SoM? (I mean the android part)?
Do you also know where the RAM sits? Is that also on this board or is RAM on the Mainboard?
@dsa8310: You had a KGL unit, right? I'm thinking about also getting a KLD-SoM for my KGL als KGL doesn't sell the SoM separately... It's compatible as far as I read on this thread?

EVERYTHING apart from the MCU is on the SoM, RAM on the left, processor on the right, flash above it (on RK3066 SoMs the flash is on the back) :

ofcourse i was not thinking that! i was just worrying about having to flash a RK3188 image BEFORE swapping RK3066 SoM with RK3188 SoM.
but DSA already cleared that out. (thanks)

Its on the flash chip on the SoM !
so that would imply that my new RK3188 board would contain some RK3188 firmware already? or is that a silly thought?
i was thinking that the firmware was flashed to the unit's mainboard, other than a Rk3066 or a RK3188 SoM

Can you upload the tried newest mtc-keys-1.3.apk app, I couldn't download from the link?

I would like to remap DVD hardbutton to GPS (iGo).

Yes, you would not be able to do anything unless you connected to a pc if it had no firmware at all on it ! All the Android firmware is on the SoM, this is what makes these units so good - you can continually update them, the next update is the RK3288 (both Klyde and Joyous have confirmed RK3288/Lollipop development, this chip supports up to 4Gb RAM), after that, the (Octacore!) RK3388 and so on.

I do not worry about MCU but pin compatibility
As DSA says, they are ALL compatible, I ve also replaced my RK3066 with an RK3188 SoM.

The manufacturers designed it this way for future upgrades and this is how they make their own RK3188 units, everything else is the same, saving production and development costs compared to developing an entirely new quadcore unit.

now RK3288/Lollipop might be a well worth upgrade from RK3066
RK3188 is tempting but I would not pull my car apart for it unless I need to do it for something else anyway

can we put the name of the people in charge the file server on the first post so they can be contacted directly with the new firmware that needs to uploaded?

I posted a JY update but they tend to get lost in a huge thread like this
May,13,2015 Update android version for Joying Dual Core High vision 1024*600 Head Unit https://mega.co.nz/#!Ct0QgDYL!0KLlol...flFEuo82P0-9Pw

"Pull your car apart" ?? !! Where have you installed the headunit, in the engine bay ? !

Its normally a case of a couple of screws to remove the headunit, a few to remove the top panel and 4 to undo the screws on the SoM, it took me 5 mins to change mine over !

There are several people "in charge" of the fileserver, Dark Alex, coudu, agentdr8 and myself all have the password, although I think technically Dark Alex is "in charge" as I think it was him who set it up.

I ve been adding DSA's rooted firmware, coudu adds his own and Malaysk links to his in the thread. I

I ve not really been bothered adding non rooted firmware as there isnt really a demand for it. Did DSA root the 13/05 JY firmware you linked to ? He normally does as soon as someone posts them and as soon as he posts his rooted versions I add them to the repository. If he hasnt done the version you linked to then pm him and ask.

To be serious - no.
I did not want to insult you in any way but in fact you did ask if the modification also applies to HD displays on RK3188.
I did just answer exactly what you asked. If you want to know someting else you have to aks about something else.

As far as I know the update you commented on (it's just one APP!!) does not mak any difference between RK's and the reason for the replacement WAS 800*480 so the old ones were for 1024.
thus that does not make sense eighter.

what exaclty do you want to ask?
If you want a firmware modified for a special variant (e.g. RK3188 HD) you should point us/Malaysk to which you mean.
Ok , sorry but maybe i dont write good .

I PMed DSA but he is not interested in the RK3066 any more,
so if anyone else can step up I actually would love to try this because it has the easy connected app built in and I am hoping they made changes that might make it work.

I only use windows,
I can decompile the update.img with imgRePackerRK_104
then view the system.img etc with ext4_unpacker and ext2explore-2.2.71

not sure how to open the MCU.img to see what version it is or what is init.. I know there is nothing to do in it, just want to see the version number

after I unpack the update.img what needs to be done to make a pre-rooted ROM?

I would say it's okay to link to the file in the main thread which is updated by myself (I manage access rights):
http://huifei.fs-fileserver.de/content/WriteAccessList.txt

If someone wants to take the job to upload new firmware found on the web just PN me! (I do only give access to people active in this thread or well known in the community which means being a long term member or having a bunch of posts or thanks.)

I got a message from DHL. my RK3188 board will bedelivered later on today.

i have been away from the forum for some time and tried the search engine for this thread. i don't know if this question already has been asked:

my headunit is originally RK3066, when i get my RK3188 board am i still able to get in recoverymode in order to flash a RK3188 image?
or do i still need the RK3066 board first to flash a new image?
Just instaled my rk3188 som in my jy unit. It is much faster then the 3066 som. There is a 1024x600 fw preinstaled on the som.
