Any idea what was wrong with the SWC and touchscreen that they fixed?

Are you using the special Settings password method of getting root?
Is root permanent (across reboots)?

I suspect that the Settings app handles root. I don't know how exactly, I haven't tried it.
But, you may install the Superuser app, as @agentdr8 once suggested, and then the PCV... app will work.

It would be unpleasant to have two root controllers, so I hope that the Settings root could be undone, with the same password, maybe? After installing Superuser, with Settings' root help?

I'm afraid you are not done yet...

For music players that don't have a special API, like Poweramp has, the standard "play early command" should be added after the early start sequence, e.g.
Code:
#usbmnt #uncomment if music is also on USB storage
while ! am startservice -a com.maxmpz.audioplayer.API_COMMAND; do sleep 1; done
sleep 2
input keyevent 86 85 #just 86 if starting in stopped mode
It could be added for Poweramp, too, but "am startservice -a com.maxmpz.audioplayer.API_COMMAND --ei cmd 3" is preferable.

While the special Settings root, it may have to be replaced with the Superuser app, because an /etc/install-recovery.sh script might be ignored.
I hope that the Settings root could be undone afterwards (with the same password?)
It's up to you to research it... Good luck!
I installed SuperSU as suggested by @agentdr8 and I did receive a install-recovery.sh with it. I ran the adboff password to disable the old one and I still have root after a reboot. Launched the PVC app and selected several items, saved, and rebooted and still nothing.

Then I tried selecting only Torque as startup and then I noticed it did actually started Torque after a reboot! So I added Spotify (which is listed as Not Installed but actually is) and Torque together, starts both fine. So I think either petrows or Car Service stops other services from starting. If I don't select those, everything else I select runs fine. So currently I'm not sure if SuperSU was a necessary stop or not.

It doesn't detect Spotify and Viper4Android, both installed from the Play store. If I select both, only Spotify starts, I can see in catlog that the service Viper4Android is not found.

Also, how do I get the exact service names for applications?

Hi all,

Are there any particularly recommended versions of this to buy?
At the moment I'm looking at the Eonon GA5153V.

If it helps, I'm putting it in a Volkswagen Jetta.

Thanks!

My TA only works on the channels that have the feature implemented. I must select a channel which
has TA, else it only keeps on searching. If I like to listen to a channel not having TA implemented I must
click TA off.

Normally on any radio having this implemented you adjust the TA volume during a TA transmission and
it remembers the set volume. On this head, who knows.
Thanks for the info.
The problem is probaly that most of the channeld use TP (Traffic Programme) as that is what my previous radio said and now it supports TA (Traffic announcement).
So normally when I listen to Radio 3FM (Dutch National radio with TP) it will will switch to Radio 1 (Dutch National news radio with TA) with it send out an traffic annoucement and goes back.
When I go to 3FM (and even more radio channels) now the TP indicator is gone and it only show radio 1 with TA.
Looks like the radio doesn't support both TA/TP like my old radio as that had these settings TP OFF/TA OFF -> TP ON/TA OFF -> TP ON/TA ON -> TP OFF/TA OFF

The update.img should be in the root folder of the GPS SD card slot.

If that's where it is and it's still not prompting, boot into Recovery and you'll see choices to update.

You'll need a JY-specific MCU, they are not interchangeable between manufacturers (like ROMs are).

I'm using this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62401484&postcount=17459
I am trying to figure out which is the best one? 2.59 or 2.73

Concerning volume, going to factory setting seems to be the correct way. The reason I didn't realize this is the quite strange settings. System at 10 and
radio at 17 will cause matching volumes from the player and the radio.

Thanks for helping.

So I got my HU, but my MCU version isn't like what I have seen in the main post. It is is all numeric - MCU Version - 4.3.13-1.10-610101-150413

I put an update.img file onto the root of my sd card and it does not prompt me to update. Even when I cold boot the HU it still does not seem to detect the update.img. The card works and shows up fine. Any ideas on how I can update my firmware?
are you using a mac to put the files on the sd card? if so finder adds a hidden file and causes problems to run updates. I ran into this while updating the gps app igo. the file it adds will look like this (._update.img) and you will have to use a pc to delete it. I think we need to add this in the forum on the main page not to use a mac for this reason.

u just paste on usb connect to radio and install it?
I just copy update.img to the root of my USB drive. The USB stick is full of other files (does not have to be blank). If I am in a hurry I hold my on/off button for about 10 sec until I here 2 or 3 beeps and the unit goes into recovery. I select the upgrade from USB. But after the update is completed you need to delete update.img or remove the USB stick as it keeps finding it and prompting me that a update is available.

Yes I am using a Mac to copy the file. Thanks for that info!

If I don't actually have one of the HuiFei units and turns out to be the AN21-U unit, can I still use one of the Malay images?

Thanks

Usually different MFG's support different vehicles. I found the best place to find out which unit is best for your specific vehicle is to start in your car's forum community and see what those people have bought and then come here once you've made the purchase.
