I followed the above instructions to root my SG2 and unlock it. Everything went well except I do not have wifi anymore. My baseband version is I777UCKK6 and my kernal verison is 2.6.45.7_Zedomaxstockkernal.

What I need to do so my wifi start working. I had hard clean swipe the phone still no luck. I have no clue what to do. Some of my issues are I do not undersatnd all of terms and really naive when it comes to technology.

1. Do I need "Flash the phone back to the store" use UCKH7-CL503881 posted by creepyncrawly?
2. Or use oneposted by Entrpy512 "retrun/KK6 return/unbrick to stock" I tried to download UCKK6_stock_rooted but somehow can not extratc the files.
3. or there is any easy step.

I really appreciate it if someonce can help me on this.
I have the same issue. I rooted my phone with this guide, it went really well and fast. there was no wi-fi after rooting with this method. so I went ahead and flashed a custom rom and wi-fi is working now.
so I'm thinking it's the kernel.
but i didn't meant to remain on stock anyway so this is not a big deal.

and wanted to say a super big thank you to zedomax. This method is so simple. there are some other guides out there but this one included a kernel with CWM so I didn't have to do root, kernl, CWM;

Every custom kernel I am aware of includes CWM.

Wifi not working with older kernels on newer bases is well documented - that's what you get for using an outdated guide that uses a kernel which hasn't been maintained in months.

Every custom kernel available for the I777 has working wifi except for Zedomax's because he hasn't maintained it to fix compatibility issues.

ok thanks for the explanation.
i guess as a noob, this was so super easy to root and have CWM installed at the same time. some guides I saw had an extra step of installing a custom kernel and also had to find one for my device so it was a bit intimidating. if he updates this file with a newer kernel then yeah it would be super awesome.

is there a way that I can get to the external sd card while in recovery? i know this was brought up before but i didn't find a clear answer. some people say that it's impossible, and some say to flash another kernel with a different CMW version.

I'm asking since zedomax mentioned in the video that we can flash a rom via the external sd card, which I would like to do, as in case as he mentioned that something goes wrong with your phone and can't get to the internal sd card.
thanks.

Whoah.
OK, I have CWM, but every time I try to use the power button to select one of the menus, the screen goes blank, and I can't select it.
Effectively, I'm now stuck in Recovery, with no way out ?

Can someone help ?

This method doesn't install working CWM

Hi All,

I have found that this method leaves you with a CWM that simply displays the hat when you select any option. I even tried to reflash from ROM manager and same result. Anyone else have this issue? How did you resolve it? I ended up going back to stock because I couldn't flash ROMS in CWM.

Try using the home button to select things.

sorry folks, I've been so darn busy but will try to update this thread soon!
An open letter to...

@zedomax,

You are probably a good person, and from your own point of view, intending to provide a service while making money from it. However, I can tell you from observing the results of your work with regard to the AT&T version of the Galaxy SII, you have caused extremely more problems for people than you have provided useful information and tools.

I am not writing this to disrespect you. I would like to see you provide a useful service to people, and remove the misinformation and imporperly programmed tools from your offerings. One only needs to look at your signature in addition to your message here to see the problem though. You list seven separate websites related to rooting and modifying various android devices. These are all commercial enterprises, and your work is obviously focused on driving traffic to the websites so that they can sell advertising and make money. You seem to have spread your energy entirely too thin to be able to develop good working solutions for people. And your use of xdaDevelopers forum to promote your work and commercial enterprises is at least on the edge if not fully contrary to forum guidelines.

With the current state of your GaxaxyS2Root effort, it is necessary to advise users of the AT&T SGH-I777 phone to avoid your web site. Too many people are encountering unnecessary problems from downloading and flashing your offerings. There are entirely too many cases of people using the wrong downloads intended for the I9100 due to possibly inadequate descriptions on your site. (Just an assumption on my part. I havn't really studied your site very thoroughly. But I do know the types of problems that show up in this forum as a result of your site.)

So, I ask you to do more than just update this thread. Please update the quality of your offerings, firmware downloads, and videos.
