thanks for the rom update!

performed a full wipe and install of darkraider 1.5.5 on my att vivid (black), working great with no problems.

no reboots or hangups on my att device; its unlocked, s-offed, and performed install with all defaults/full sense and chose the rc2 kozmikernal with all defaults for it.

..why is the kozmikernel beta7 set as default in the gui installer? i thought it was older and that rc2 had stability improvements/defaults set (like a 1.5 cpu clock instead of 1.7) which i like in the interest of reducing heat and instability.

I just experienced my fifth random reboot. I'm underclocked to 10xx MHz. Ideas?

Sent via HTC Vivid ¦ DarkRaider ROM 1.5.5 ¦ Kozmikkick Kernel-RC2 ¦ Touch CWM Recovery ¦ S-Off ¦ Rooted

I also had lots of problems with 1.5.5 after upgrading from 1.5.3 (without wiping). Some of my apps don't work so I went back to 1.5.3; anyone else have problems upgrading without wiping?

This is a stock rebuild rom, reboots/hangups wont happen as its based on a OEM rom =]

Go to /data/data and find the apps data thats force closing delete it and restart or go into the apps settings wipe cache/data and reboot.

exynos5250x; yeah, i already know that. just thought i'd post for funziez as a contrast to the numerous posts about bootlooups after update.

slamming_sammy1; upgrades will almost always have problems.

1. use titanium backup to backup ACTUAL IMPORTANT USER DATA (its in the rom as an optional add-in app, if i recall correctly)

2. do a FULL WIPE; factory/data AND the dalvik cache under the advanced menu in recovery.

3. install rom

4.. ONLY RESTORE THE DATA backed up with titanium.

re-using all the data from the last install that you DON'T NEED generally tends to produce the same problematic results. just import data from the handful of programs that you do need (that isn't already synced with your google account in the first place; mail/contacts/calendar/apps/wifi settings). you can also use titanium to retain your preferred version of programs. your purchased programs will be redownloadable for free (automatically if you choose, along with the rest of the apps you had before wipe) from the market.

Does anybody know why I get the error
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/newboot.img","boot")
when I try to install Kozmik kernel?

Thanks

Probably an issue with your boot sector. Fastboot flash an unsecured boot.IMG the reflash my kernel and it should work.

ok thanks for the info. I always thought that upgrading can be done without a full wipe, but this was the first time that I've tried so I wasn't sure if it was the build or the upgrading process (without wiping). I guess it's nice to have all the settings saved like ringtones, wallpaper, tweaks and how all the apps are customized on each screen; but if this can't be saved then so be it. it's not that big of a deal.
or is there such an app to save some setting? saving anything is a bonus.
thanks!!

i store my personal data on my sdcard, so theres no worry about any partition accidents; ringtones/wallpapers. i've seen so many probs with icons, widgets and power drains across devices in regards to keeping launchers/settings/themes that i find its just easier to start fresh and keep your desktop items light.

i recommend the zeam launcher; its the lightest one available that doesn't look like a stock gray aosp interface, and it supports screen rotation (..unlike sense). most importantly, all your favorite apps can be put in a nice slidable dock with/without an ugly background. stuff on the screen just has to be drawn and kept in memory and frequently need to be re-added across rom upgrades and launcher replacements, after enough times you just learn to be minimal if you're gonna regularly upgrade.

..wouldn't trust a windows upgrade. you almost never do a linux upgrade. why trust an android upgrade? fresh is best. ;)

Nottach just want to say thanks for the hard work you have been doing for our phones. If you need anyone to test anything anytime I would be happy to. Looking forward to see what you come up with in the next build

After doing a full wipe and installed the RC2 kernel from kozmik... things are working well. No reboots. And now with google backup, it installs your apps all over again that you had before. Not an option I had before, or had at least noticed.

Great ROM. Keep up the great work!

I've been granted permission by the LeeDroid Tweaks team to release once done.
I will release it separately from Dark Raider also for other chefs to use at their will.
    No boo-hooing here.
    :p
I'm about 70% done porting it.

Got Tweaks 4.2 SystemUI working. Next is APM and the rest of LeeDroid.

    Dark Raider FAQ:

Q: How do I install Dark Raider?
A: If you are S-ON follow this guide. If you are S-OFF I assume you know how. ;)

Q: Which is the best kernel?
A: There really isn't such thing as best kernel as every user has different needs. Each user should research the features of the kernels to better understand their properties. Here are links to some info about each kernel.
