I have the same problem.

Clearing cache (both) did not help.

Even reflashed Supernova after formatting /system. Still I get an error after starting Google Play.

Yes they are blue. I just flashed Supernova 3.1. instead of 3.0: same problem.

Hmm thats weird if you cleared everything and reflash Supernova. The market should work. Try a factory reset first before anything after you installed SuperNova thats what I did and everything is running great.

Thanks, let me try.

Performance?

I've had my v972 for 2 weeks. Have flashed and tested every ROM. Currently on Supernova3.1, which I like. I also got my v812 earlier this week and have it loaded with Supernova3.1 / CWM. I've also tested it extensively with stock v1.35 and Supernova3.1.

Question: the v812 performs at twice the speed on most if not all tasks in both v1.35 and Supernova, including CWM backups process, as the v972, with both having the exact same setup / launcher / etc. Given that the specs are identical except screen size and screen type (Retina vs IPS / DPI differences), what is causing the v972 to perform so much slower? Must be the Retinal high resolution screen????? The difference in performance is shocking to say the least. Makes me want to use my v812 all the time. I've read every post on multiple forums and viewed many youtube demo videos about the v972. I don't think anything is wrong with mine and I believe it performs as good or better than every unit I've read from other users. However, the difference in performance in these two models is really amazing.

Anyone want to chime in?? Does anyone else have both models and notice the difference also??

Perplexed.....

I only have a V972 but during my first week I thought I had bought an expensive doorstop, it wasn't until I installed better ROMs, changed the default launcher and stopped using Chrome (so slow it was useless) and started using Dophin (beta) that I've at last got a tablet that is a pleasure to use. My AnTuTu benchmarks came out at about 10,254 but it would be interesting to see what the score is on both your tablets...

Here are the Quadrant / Antutu comparisons. Clearly, the v812 is the winner, and it performs like it! It's gotta be the Retina screen killing the performance. I wonder if there is a way to set the screen down to an IPS-type screen with a 1024 x 768 resolution? Gonna check around. I would be willing to sacrifice something visually to get better performance. So that begs the question as to why I got the Retina screen. Because I wanted the visual experience LOL. I really never considered it to be a problem until I got the v812 and noticed the distinct difference in performance. It's too much to ignore.

Oh well.

Thanks for that, makes interesting (but depressing) reading. I've no idea how to change the screen density but will google it, if I can get the density down then it would be interesting to run the benchmark test again.. I did find this interesting re: screen, seems it really is as good as the iPad

Enabling USB host API

Love the tablet but not having any luck using a wired XBOX 360 controller. Has anyone managed to get it working?
Any advice would be most welcome :)
Try this:
In folder /system/etc/permissions/ create file name android.hardware.usb.host.xml with content:
<permissions>
<feature name="android.hardware.usb.host"/>
</permissions>

Then you need to find file name tablet_core_hardware.xml and add in <permissions> section <feature name="android.hardware.usb.host"/>
And then reboot.

By default, USB host API is turned off, and that workround fix it.

MUch apreciated. I tried the steps you outlined but with no success. Excuse my newbeishness but I assume I create an .xml file using notepad and only include the exact content you posted?

Thanks for all your help

Just about to install Ployer's MOMO19HD firmware on my Onda V972 - wonder if it'll have the same no-touch screen issues.

---------- Post added at 05:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:15 PM ----------

Yip - it must also use different touch screen drivers for it.

Is there a way to get the driver out of Onda's IMG file and replace it in Ployer's IMG then flash with Phoenix Tool?

Did you do a clean wipe and install or install over existing version? If so, that could be your problem. Follow this procedure for installing SuperNova3.1:

1)Place Supernova 3.1 WITHOUT unzipping it,so zipped, in a folder in the extern sdcard.
2)Enter at CWM,there go to Mounts and Storage and "format" System , Data, Cache, and Sdcard
3)Then *****Go back****: Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition and in Advanced section: Wipe Dalvik cache.
4)*****Go back**** and " Install zip from sdcard", and " choose zip from external sdcard", find the folder where supernova 3.1 Rom was placed.
5)When the "Setup is finished": *****Go back***** Reboot system now.
6)Done

Is your tablet the 32gb version? Cause I heard somewhere that the 32gb has problems with CWM, not sure it is true or not. But to fix your problem just use PhoenixSuite and reflash the stock firmware with format. That should fix it.

    Okay guys a quick update. Not sure, if I should be posting it here but I will still go ahead as we dont have a dedicated development thread yet.

    So last night I studied the partitions, extracted the stock recovery img and tried to build cwm recovery from the cwm online builder. I pushed it on to the recovery partition, and rebooted into recovery. Finally I did manage to get the cwm recovery interface but too bad it did not recognize my partitions. Worse, I ended up bricking my device as it went in cwm loop and on every restart I just got cwm with no keys working. :crying:

    Luckily I knew that Allwinner A31 is almost brick free because the Installation suite doesn't rely on recovery and use flash mode to install firmware. So I am up and running again. I just repartioned to be sure. :good::good:

    I'll keep going. I realize now that the A10 also has similar paritions structure, maybe I could get help from there. For anyone interested I am attaching the recovery.fstab which u can refer to extarct images using dd command.

    PM me or write here if anyone needs the recovery or boot images. I already have then extracted. Sorry for the long post.
    There is just one thing thats been bothering me. How we supposed to use CWM even if we get it working with just two keys on the tablet? Maybe I should directly try cwm touch.

    Thanks. I'll keep you guys posted.

    onda has not enabled any power managment features of the tablet yet. There is a power managment chip, and the A31 has power managment as well not being used. The A31 is being ran at 1ghz even when idle. If you factor that in with battery life right now at 4-4.5 hours , just think what it should get once those features are enabled.

    I have 2 of these and one of mine I was messing with for over 4 hours (installing apps rooting upgrading/downgrading firmware, ect) and it was at 69% I have not had any of the browser lag, however every so often when going into google play I get no connection retry. This has happened to me with all of my tablets so not sure if this is wifi power managment or not.

    I have read about some quality control issues with some units, but both of mine seem to be working and looking great so far. I also did the firmware upgrade on a factory fresh device. I think this helps with stability.

    PS, Every new battery operated device i have owned I have always let it charged for 24 hours before messing with it. Even if they state they are fully charged when they come out of the box. I have always had pretty consistent battery life trough the life of the device. Just my personal experience.

    Note Take Battery MAH on Chinese batteries with a grain of salt. I have seen the same model make of battery advertised and many different MAH. They never are tested at what they say. I would not be surprised if ainol novo9 and onda v972 use the same exact battery. The thing about numbers anyone good in math can make numbers say anything you want. And guess who is really good with numbers. :)
