Man that update really messed up my tablet.
no english keyboard. no root, killed all my installed apps. did not erase all my data but sure did a number on the system config.
is it that i applied the update over my 2.0 install and it was suppose to go over the 1.35 install?
anyways i am reverting back to my cwm image of 2.0
I installed the Onda SDK v2.0 stock rom posted 3/30. Then I used the /settings/about tablet/update feature, pointed to "local" and selected the v2.0.1 zip file on my sdcard that I downloaded and copied over to the v972. It ran as normal, rebooted the tablet into stock recovery, and flashed the .zip. When finished I rebooted tablet and got the green screen where it repairs the memory (which I think I got the last time I flashed this 3rd part rom 1.35.1). I let that run and finish, and then the v972 booted normally. Rom is definitely faster and smoother than SN 4.0. I'm copying over my sdcard to start restoring apps and see if that slows it down any. But so far, I like what I see.
Don't know why you had the problems you did, but I don't think you are supposed to flash over 1.35. This rom is cooked as an update to the SDK 2.0, hence the 2.0.1 designation. Was your usb cable inserted snugly? I've read that a bad cable or a poor connection leads to all kinds of issues when flashing roms. I always check my cable to be sure it is snug. When using the Phoenix tool it's easy while trying to hold down on the "home button" , plug in the usb, and tap the power, to mess up something. You almost need 3 hands LOL!!!!
Regarding root, Superuser is cooked into the rom, but you have to go to /settings/security/permissions and turn it on. Then it recognizes root. I was able to interpret those directions from the Spanish board. Lastly, once I changed the language to English US, i got an english keyboard. However, I always install the Hackers's Keyboard anyway, so that was no problem.
Another thing, Root Explorer Chinese is cooked into the rom and can only be disabled in /settings/apps, not uninstalled. I used Titanium Backup Pro to uninstall it and re-install the English version from the play store. Works good.
EDIT: I think I discovered your problem. If you had CWM installed over the stock recovery, then that's what caused your issues. I read on the Chinese bbs that the v2.0.1 zip had to be installed with the original stock recovery and not CWM. If you would Phoenix flash the stock v2.0 again, then use /settings/about tablet/update to install the v2.0.1 zip, I bet it would work. When you Phoenix flash it installs the stock recovery and deletes the CWM. i knew to do that beforehand and hence, didn't have your problem. Just a stab at your problem. I think you would like this update. I certainly do.
