seeing this thread concerns me as I am looking to migrate from iPhone to Android for the reason mentioned in the OP. Is this common and if so does it seem to affect some brands more than others ?

Hey guys! I have been using HTC desire 600 dual SIM and had the same problem with WiFi as of which my hotspot also didn't work so I went checking with similar threads some say *#*#526#*#* will work but it won't . So I finally unlocked my bootloader and flashed CWM custom recovery followed with supersu and wiped cache and volla...!!!! My WiFi is ready again ...thanks to xda
