Guys Almost Everyone of You Know That Our Lovely OnePlus 5 Uses AMOLED Display. But Do You Know How AMOLED Display Works? Let Me Explain :
LCDs like the ones you find on the*LG G3*or*HTC One (M8)*produces light with an LED backlight. The light shines through the pixels and into your eyeballs. In this case, a black pixel is simply one in which the pixel has turned opaque—it blocks all the light streaming in from the backlight. The backlight is still on just the same.
An AMOLED doesn't have a backlight at all. Instead, each little sub-pixel is like a tiny red, blue, or green colored light. If the screen is instructed to display black, it doesn't need to block any light, it simply doesn't light up any of the little colored sub-pixels.
So, If U See A Part of Screen That Is Showing Pure Black Colour, It Means It Isn't Showing Any Colour Resulting In The Best Black You Can Experience.
So, Now How To Save Power Using This?
First of All You Can Use The Stock Theme Option Inside Display Settings To Set The Theme To Dark. It'll Save Power During Stock Apps Screen.
In Third Party Apps, Use Substratum Theme Engine With Swift Black Theme (Most Preferred For Pure Black)
Here is Full Guide: (For Rooted Users Only)
1. Download Substratum Theme Engine (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum)
2. Download Swift Black Theme (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftblack.layers)
3. Run Substratum, Go To Swift Black Tab & Choose OOS 4 From The Top List.
4. Select Third Party Apps Only (Chrome, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Gmail, Drive, etc)
WARNING : I Don't Recommend Theming System Apps Like Settings, SystemUI Because They're Already Dark Themed, But You Can Always Try On Your Own Risk, If Stuck On Bootloop, Just Flash Rescue.zip Inside Substratum Folder In Main Directory
5. Click On Install Overlays Button And Wait For It To Complete.
6. Reboot
Now Enjoy The Extra Juice Saved By AMOLED Display.
