Hi guys,

I received 3 updates in total for the OnePlus 5 after purchasing it at the Amsterdam pop-up event.
After the first update, it crashed when I wanted to enter my sim card pin. After the crash, my phone was stuck on the OP logo. Eventually, it worked again after some hours.
After the second update, it crashed when I wanted to enter my sim card pin. After the crash, my phone was stuck on the OP logo. Eventually, it worked again after some hours.
After the third update (The *.*.3), it crashed when I wanted to enter my sim card pin. After the crash, my phone was stuck on the OP logo.

I was tired of this bullsh*t and started a live chat on the OnePlus website.
They redirected me to 'Johnedel - L2 Escalation and Technical Specialist'. Nothing against him, just posting it here for more clearance.
After he helped me (By reflashing the ROM), it wasn't crashing and boot looping anymore.

But guess what. I restarted my phone after that and again, it crashed when I wanted to enter my sim card pin. After the crash, my phone was stuck on the OP logo.

Anyone knows a solution?

I'm currently talking with someone on the live chat again and now he wants me to replace it. I heard I will need to pay the shipping which is bullsh*t to me lol, that's why I'm asking for solutions here first.

Thanks.

that sounds odd.. what happens if you boot your phone without any sim card at all ? or the sim into the 2nd slot ? can you boot into recovery ? tried a factory reset ?

I currently have my sim card in slot 2 actually. Never thought that could be an issue, will test it out tomorrow.

I can boot into recovering and I already tried a factory reset, full wipe and cache deletion.

have to play Sherlock sometimes. eliminate one possiblity after the other, until what's left has to be the reason.

Alrighty, did what you suggested, I'll test out first if it reboots/crashes when I have my sim card in slot 1. I'll keep you updated, thanks for the help bud.

ask for replacement or just full refund. from my experience with OP support, pick up and shipping back was totaly free, no any fee if phone is under warranty. That's OP problem, that sold faulty phone.

Update: Looks like the crashes didn't happen because of the sim card. It just crashed at sim input because that's the first screen when the phone boots up.
Going to ask for a replacement device now.

did you set a lockscreen pin ? if so the first screen could be the decryption pin screen.

I FOUND A TEMP SOLUTION!

When you're stuck in a bootloop (The OnePlus Logo shows but nothing else happens.)
Follow these steps:
1. Get into the bootloop (To the OnePlus Logo)
2. Hold your power button till it turns off and starts booting up again (Do not release the power button untill the OnePlus Logo appears again after it starts.)
3. Wait 3 sec, the bottom lights will flash (Recent, back buttons.)
4. 5 to 15 sec later, the phone will boot up!
