Indeed it does

Try removing all pin/password/pattern and reboot to TWRP to let it update crypto and then boot into os set it up again but do not select ask at boot. Reboot to TWRP again and it should decrypt fine

PS we still do not have on official TWRP so these issues may persist
Also make sure you stay on the latest stable from here

@Funk Wizard - I removed the password from OS, rebooted to TWRP, it does not ask for any pin, but when i again set pin/fingerprint in OS, it again asks in TWRP. also i am not able to flash any zip file, the installation stucks at 0%, is it because of pin?

Try the same pin you've set for the os or maybe change to a pattern and see it same pattern works in twrp

Hey guys,

I couldn't get an answer to the following question.

I just wanted to ask if you'd recommend to root and flash custom ROMs. I have messed up (damaged motherboard according to xda community) my last device but it was also the first device that I've rooted so I started from scratch.

Is it safe to do this with some experience made by messing up a device and using it for months?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone here know why I can't flash TWRP? I've renamed the .img file to recovery for ease, but every time I try and flash it I get FAILED, and I don't know why. Unlocking bootloader worked fine.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (25932 KB)...
FAILED (remote: Requested download size is more than max allowed
)
finished. total time: 0.016s

I have a couple of questions. First, I am looking into getting a OnePlus 5 and noticed there are two models, one with 6 gigs of ram and one with 8. This method works for both, correct? Also, what's the difference between SuperSU and Magisk? I've rooted a couple of my phones in the past but have only ever used SuperSU / Super User. Does each one offer advantages / disadvantages or is it more of a preference thing?

Unable to flash twrp from fastboot mode

Hi,

I am unable to flash twrp img file from fastboot mode.

However, the Bootloader is unlocked.

Please help.

Flashing TWRP Recovery

Downloads:

TWRP
Credits @xdvs23

Magisk
Or
SuperSU

Wait until the phone has fully booted up into android, then adjust the following settings on the phone:

USB Debugging:
On your phone go to Settings > About phone > Tap on Build number 7 times. This will enable Developer options. Now go back to Settings > Developer options > Enable USB debugging

Enable OEM Unlocking:
On your phone go to Settings > Developer options. Then enable the 'OEM Unlocking' option and make sure that from now on, OEM unlocking option is enabled before you reboot. Sometimes, it might get disabled itself.

Enable Advanced Reboot:
On your phone go to Settings > Developer options. Then enable the 'Advanced Reboot' option.

Download all the files, place SuperSU or Magisk on Device Internal Memory and TWRP img in the Android Folder under the Platform Tools folder in C Drive

Then boot it into fastboot/bootloader mode by holding volume up + power or selecting the reboot to bootloader via advanced reboot options.

Open a new command prompt in the same location and run the following commands:

Code:
fastboot flash recovery (file name).img
Once the flash has completed, Don't use the "Fastboot Reboot" Command Instead Unplug Your phone then Manually boot it into recovery by keeping Power + Volume Down button pressed or you can also use the command:

Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
PS: DO NOT BOOT IN OS JUST YET & CONTINUE TO THE ROOTING POST

However, the Bootloader is unlocked.

First don't quote the OP,
Try copying the image to the same directory of fastboot, or CD to the path of the image and execute fastboot from there

I'm coming from the Nexus 6P and I'm a bit confused on how to revert back to full stock. I see plenty or root and twrp and backups and such. But how I go back to full stock like if on a N6P you just flash the factory images. It doesn't appear to be that way with the OP5. I just want to go back to a full stock 4.5.3.

I've never had a OP device before and I'm still waiting for mine to ship out, but from reading a bit, I believe these are the steps

Transfer the full ota zip to your device
Wipe everything in twrp except internal storage
Flash the stock ota zip
Flash stock recovery if you want to get rid of twrp
Done

I could be way off, or have a step or two wrong, so I would wait until someone more knowledgable than me confirms or corrects these steps!

from Hydrogen to rooted Oxygen OS

Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding the order of the process.

I bought my OP5 in China so it has HydrogenOS preinstalled. I would like to flash OOS, unlock the boot loader and root it. What is the best order to do it?

From reading this forum I would proceed with
Downloading the newest OOS (4.5.3 from downloads.oneplus.net) and flashing it unrooted with ADB
Then follow this guide to firstly unlock the bootloader and afterwards root.

Does this sound correct to you? Or do I need to unlock the bootloader BEFORE flashing OOS 4.5.3?

Thanks a lot, I am a first time Oneplus user and really appreciate any help.
