Hi my friend is having various issues with his 7T I am able to help him, but as the title suggests, what is the system partition size? For him when he factory reset the system is showing its taking 30gb from his 128gb. As I have the 7 Pro and not the 7T I don't know if this is normal?

Any help is appreciated, just to answer the above .........:good:

Now it's 28GB
Excuse me wtf
exactly !

System OTA zip is 2.5 GB. So are there over 10 Copies of old Systems ?!
(And LOS Androids are around 400-800 MB).
So it's just crazy.

Not that I'm running out of storage soon, but that's just about the principle.
I wont accept that some Android OS reserves 28GB for itself.
I can have dual boot Windows and Linux on my computer on that storage space ...

I found another first thread, where I posted/ranted about that, too

Just delete your system partition then, you don't need it.

(in case the image doesn't show up https://en.meming.world/wiki/File:My_Goodness_What_an_Idea.jpg )

I should do this https://giphy.com/gifs/the-simpsons-hank-scorpio-zqhZB6bo5FgoE

But ranting and joking aside, this 28GB System partition provides really ZERO additional value compared to my previous 10GB System partition on the OP6.

So I hope there will be a way to shrink that to some sensible size ...

Looking at my storage, the system partition is 26GB but the actual used space is a small amount of that ~8GB or so. It's mostly empty. Odd.

My guess is it is so big to allow the update to be unzipped and flashed even if you have the phone full otherwise. Remember iPhones used to not update due to not enough space to unzip the update file.

If this is the reason I'd be amazed - they'd be fixing a problem that isn't widespread.

The Op7t has no real system partition. It's so "big" in theory because it's thats maximum space that can be allocated within the super lun0 partition (super partition contains system, vendor, odm and product partitions).
See details over here : https://source.android.com/devices/tech/ota/dynamic_partitions/implement

That makes sense. However is this super partition fixed size or itself is dynamic? If it is fixed then oneplus is definitely over-allocated it, thus wasting space.
