Did some more testing.
The Pixel has about a -5dbi WiFi signal difference when I walk next door. It holds onto my WiFi signal a little better than the OnePlus.
Both phones are about the same, just as easy to read under direct sunlight when looking at black text with a white background.
Inside, the OnePlus has easier to read text.
When looking at a black background, both are about the same but the Pixel is easier to read a little more often. Or maybe, a little sooner.
The Pixel has a wider screen, so you get more text information onscreen for each line. But the OnePlus has easier to read text. Might just be a color temp & font tweak that can be adjusted.
The pixel has a better lit display - A little brighter more often than the OnePlus. Good for older eyes needing to read in a less bright environment.
I need to put the OnePlus font and display color temperature on the pixel.
Put both phones to max manual-brightness and set them on top of my trashcan out in the 75 degree F* sun.
After about 30 minutes (?) the Pixel had changed to a dark theme for the map.
And the OnePlus was still very bright but while I was looking at it, it killed the Map and killed the WiFi and gave me a message that it had overheated and would reduce functionality.
The OnePlus recovered quickly and still had a nice bright screen.
The Pixel said "FU" to the manual-brightness and non-dark mode. It decreased the screen brightness and turned on dark mode all by itself. But it kept functioning!
I then changed both to auto-brightness and the Pixel was noticeably brighter than the OnePlus with that configuration. I came back out 10 minutes later and they were both the same brightness.
The OnePlus got 38 satellites compared to just 24 for the Pixel (per GPU Status app):
Get a faster GPS fix! ...and so much more...
At this point I got a message that the OnePlus battery was down to only 16%.
The Pixel is at 68%. Both phones started out at 100%, though the OnePlus did have three major software upgrades it had to perform before I started testing.
Put both phones on the charger.
The OnePlus is already at 100%. The pixel is charging a lot slower.
