Did you try any custom roms for the OnePlus 9?I don't recommend either honestly as I've switched the S23 Ultra and can't remember the last time I was so happy with a device (I don't even miss root) but if you're dead set on those two, the OnePlus 9 Pro is the way to go. The Qualcomm X60 modem runs circles around the Pixel 7 Pro's Shannon 5300 in the efficiency and stability department and the Snapdragon 888 is marginally faster but runs cooler than the Pixel 7 Pro's Tensor G2. Also, you can unbrick the OnePlus 9 Pro (make sure you back up all the partitions before you start tinkering just in case but if you have the partitions backed up, as long as you don't lock the bootloader, you can generally recover pretty easily) while you can't unbrick a Pixel if you manage to brick it. I chose not to flash custom ROMs on my Pixel since the stock software was good enough and there were a few scattered reports of bricks here and there.
Also, if you check the OnePlus 11 forum, it was discovered that the Battery app is what is in charge of the gaming throttling. There is a thread there about modifying the functionality so it doesn't throttle so soon.

I used it on my OnePlus 9 and can confirm it didn't throttle but the battery temp was quite hot. I was running 3DMark on stress test mode though.
There are 19 ROMs that I know of, they're just not really talked about here since the devs moved elsewhere.

Yes. Stag was my favorite. I had major problems with everything else I tried. I never tried PE as recommended here though so I can't comment on that one.
Pixel is meh, on vacation so I use my phone more and it can't handle the hot weather, battery life got a lot worse, it developed idle drain even though it says it's in deep sleep and the super slow charging just sucks.
I basically got paid to get it through a carrier deal, otherwise I would be mad for wasting money on it.

Do u have a link to the "official" gcam you're talking about? There are a lot of forks of gcam. I'm always hesitant on downloading one for fear of it being the wrong one that breaks stuff or has malware in it.
Scrolling, when it works, is fine on both my OP9 and Pixel 7 Pro.
Problem for me is that I keep getting screen freezes while scrolling, that last up to about 15 seconds of no response. Then the app will crash as well as a system process. It's really annoying. Seems to happen mostly with FB and Firefoxm but has happened with other apps.

4I have both and frequently switch between the two.... Gaming is better on the 9pro obviously... The fit in hand is better on the 9pro and this is a big deal to me... I also like the build better as the screen doesn't feel so hollow... Speakers edge out to the 9pro... Standby drain edge out to the 9pro as well... I shoot RAW when I can, so the camera isnt that big of a factor for me but the 7pro is great for dim, quick shots...
There are some differences with smoothness including this website on Firefox... The 9pro is consistently smoother... It gets choppy more often with the 7pro...
The 9pro also stays cooler ... Dunno what this really means though, maybe it's just better at "hiding" the heat whereas the 7pro let's the heat expand out...

If I were to pick between the 2, I'd stick with my 9pro because of fit in hand AND the super fast charging... Too convenient...3The screen on the Pixel is comparable to the 9 Pro. It's got a peak of 1500 nits when on auto. I have zero issues seeing it in the sun.
I didn't have a 9 Pro, I had a 9, but the speakers on the 7 Pro are way better. The 9 had basically no bass to speak of and the 7 Pro has a moderate bass response. It travels through the back of the phone and makes it vibrate in your hands a bit which was unnerving for me at first but the quality is definitely excellent as that was a chief complaint I had about my 9.
I'm loving the fact that apps don't just randomly refresh for no reason. I can swipe away from Chrome and do something without worrying about the page refreshing when I come back. RAM management was always really annoying on OOS12 and would often result in me being unable to log into my accounts because I would swipe away to get my 2FA code and the page would reload. Happy to say that I can actually play games on this thing and come back to what I was doing hours later and it's still there.
The camera is way better on the Pixel side if you like the point and shoot idea. The OnePlus is better if you like to tweak things although I think eventually we will get a nice GCam port that adds all that functionality back to the Pixel as well. I have not been disappointed with a single picture I have just randomly snapped with the Pixel whereas the OnePlus I never trusted it to get it right on the first so I took 3 or 4 and checked them out later.
Battery life for me has been better than my 9 but this seems to really vary for people and comes down to how you use the phone. I thought I would miss the rapid charging of the 9 but in reality I only have to charge once every 19-26 hours so it's a moot point and I can get 50% in 30 minutes which will get me through whatever I need to do where I won't have access to a charger easily.
EDIT: Actually, from looking up display tests, the Pixel should be much better than the 9 Pro. Without auto brightness the 9 Pro maxed at 500 nits. The Pixel achieves 1000 nits full scene brightness without auto.3
FYI, fully functional GCAM is already there since the phone came out. Check the Gcam from BSG, there is even a "dedicated" group for the Pixel 7 series and Gcam including a few people who made config and lib. Of course, Gcam already performs FAR better than the stock Google camera.
Also, I got the 9 Pro too, and the camera doesn't even come close to Pixel 7 Pro's.3
I just got the Pixel 7 Pro and am comparing it to my OnePlus 9 Pro.
I bought a LUX meter and opened a 50% white pattern.
Looks like this:
I configured both phones for manual brightness.
I choose "natural" for the color setting since the Pixel didn't have the "vivid" I usually use on the 9 Pro.
The Pixel 7 Pro registered 800 LUX while the 9 Pro absolutely demolished it with 1800 LUX.
There's no comparison. My 9 Pro running an AOSP ROM absolutely destroys the 7 Pro for maximum manual brightness.
I'll test auto-brightness later today.
