In future i am planning to either go back agian to stock os or lineage os 16....
will i need to flash these firmware/modem files ?

when shall we flash a firmware file ?? while upgrading android version or when we switch between roms ?

If you go back to stock, the ROM itself will have the required firmware and modem files, so no need for flashing anything separately. If going to custom ROMs, then most of them will require separate flash of firmware and modem files. Which firmware and modem files will depend on the instructions in the OP of the concerned ROM thread.

Normally when you upgrade the ROM and sometimes while switching ROMs (depending on the instructions in the OP of the ROM thread), you will require to flash the firmware and modem files.

I took a phone that was used, flashed the 5.0.4 firmware and installed 8.1 Oreo. However, since doing this, I have no LTE service whatsoever. I thought maybe it was because of lack of strong LTE signal where I was when I did the install. Has anyone else run into a problem with losing 4G LTE before and after installing firmware updates? Big thanks to Marco for keeping this repository updated. Any suggestions would be helpful, though I will tell you I went back to stock locked bootloader nougat and it still didn't fix the problem.

You can Install the latest 5.0.6 Firmware for oreo roms.
Maybe try to use the hardbrick unbrick Guide.
Otherwise your Phone antenna is maybe faulty.

If the antenna was faulty, though, wouldn't it fail to pick up the other frequencies? I have no problems making or receiving calls nor using the internet. I'm just not getting 4G!

I personally don't have any problems.
So because I cant replicate it I cant help you unfortunately.

I would use the hardbrick unbrick guide, then update everything manually.
