The file I downloaded doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a MSM download tool link or anything to download it? All the MSM versions I found so far either had the flash file missing or a patch wasn't correct. I'll even pay for the tool if needed

What model is yours? I have the global OnePlus 8 (IN2015) and got the files in my MEGA drive.
That's the OnePlus_8_global_Oxygenos_11.0.zip file right? I unzipped it and got a few weird files and didn't see anything regarding setup or install
It turns out the file extraction app I used "WinZip" wasn't showing all files. It did work pretty fast on unbricking my phone.
The general consensus is to press and hold Power Off and Volume Up button and release when the screen goes off. Now your phone is switched off.
Now to enter the EDL mode you need to press and hold volume up and volume down buttons at the same time...and then connect the mobile to pc while still holding the buttons. Done.
MSM tool will detect your phone.
If you cannot enter EDL Mode for whatever reason - you might want to consider a replacement device.
It goes into EDL but then got a error 15s into it saying shara communication problem or something along those lines. It says system destroyed whenever it's turned on but I'm hoping it's fixable but have a board coming just in case.
Firstly, turn off safeboot from BIOS if on. Then type the following command to enable test signing:
bcdedit.exe -set testsigning on
When done with the task, type the following command to disable test signing:
bcdedit.exe -set testsigning off
Just make sure you run CMD as an administrator. Turn on safeboot from BIOS if needed.
I had the same issue over and over again. What I did to fix it, was to let MSM running, don´t stop, just let them do, right click on the "Qualöcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4)" (in my case, it was COM3, but that shouldn´t matter) in the device manager and opened the settings, then open the "Port Settings" tab, click on advanced and change it to COM1. After this, I had to restart the phone and plug it into another USB port (I only got the one of my keyboard working), reentered the EDL-mode and MSM instant started the process...
Try to play around with the USB ports and when to restart the device and so on, if my solution doesn´t work. I´ve an OP 9 Pro EU, for clearification, if something should be different.
I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this but I do not have the "Ports" section in my Device Manager. I noticed this when my device failed to show up in the msmdownload tool. I am having this issue on Windows 11 and on Windows 10 running in a virtual machine. I have tried showing hidden devices and adding the port section using the "install legacy hardware" option but this issue persists. Has anyone encountered this issue?
The drivers posted have not worked for me, can someone please explain which drivers they installed and how? The drivers I have tried to install are not making the device show up in msm. As shown below, the digital signature cannot be verified even though I have disabled Windows from checking for this. Has anyone else encountered this error or does anyone know what might be causing it? Thank you.

You should also be able to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS with them if for some reason you want to go back to an older firmware

As this happened on OnePlus 8 Pro, it is advised to take backup of /persist partition before crossflashing (eg going from International to Indian build) as fingerprint reader may give an error related to enrollment issue. You can do so by using dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img (you must have root access, which is not something I'm going to explain here) and moving it to your computer/cloud.
Instructions:
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.
Click on Target button and select O2 while using international tool or India while using indian tool or EU when using european tool.
Power your device off.
Maintain volume up and volume down keys to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer using stock OnePlus cable. (You may let volume keys go once done.)
Click on Enum to be sure your device is detected and press Start.
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.

Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.
Why is my antivirus freaking out when unzipping the archive or running the tool?
In an effort to protect reverse engineering from being done (and by extension prevent conversion process like it was done on 6T and 7Pro), OnePlus now use VM Protect V3 in their MSM tools. As this tries to detect debug environment, this is seen as malicious behaviour by some antivirus.
My device isn't detected when I click on "Enum" button
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=qualcomm hs usb 9008 ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.
MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"
Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.
