me too ,.before i was able to do it without facing any issues, but now after i upgrade to android 11 (beta 1) then roolback to android 10 i face this issues.. until now my phone is dead..:crying:

So the phone wasn't detected in PC or in msm because I apparently didn't press the vol UP and DOWN button long enough for msm to detect. After it was detected, I just followed the video tutorial by Max Lee and I got my phone back!

so it has been awhile since I rooted an android device. The last time I rooted and custom flashed an android phone was with my Note 2 6 years ago. After a successful flash and a few months of usage, the phone in general died and started going on a boot loop forever. So after that I gave up on rooting my phone...
Recently, a friend managed to convince me to start back on rooting my recently purchased Oneplus 8 phone because he believes I woud enjoy the priveleges that AdAway has to offer for rooted phones.
I read up on the guides here and tried to refresh my basic knowledge on rooting... So what I did was basically follow the guideline here.
wccftech (unfortunately as a new user, I can't post outside URL here...) but keyword for the tutorial would be wccftech oneplus 8, rooting

I suspected something wrong after step 11, because at command prompt, it showed that the rooting was done(?). So this obviously took place when the phone was plugged in to the PC. After that, it just got stucked there, so what I did was unplugged the phone and then this sent my Oneplus 8 into a boot loop "Qualcomm Crashdump Mode"
I tried following the steps using MsmDownloadTool but to no avail. Youtube Video Tutorial by Max Lee.
The problem is that I manage to power off the phone when it was in Qualcomm Crashdump Mode. Upon connecting the phone while Msm is running, it isn't detected by Msm... Clicking Enum doesn't help with anything. The moment I plug in the phone, the phone just go into fastboot mode.
Is there anyone who is willing to help me with this? I would appreciate your help very much.

I upgraded to OxygenOS 11 International stable yestaday,everything is fine but no root
So I flash rollback package OnePlus 8 IN Version from:https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oxygenos-11-for-the-oneplus-8-pro-and-oneplus-8.1312654/
after reboot,my phone boot into blackscreen and nothing happen.
I tried different version SMS tool whole day all complete but still can't fix it
Now bootloader is loocked I don't know why but I can't unlock it

Unfortunately, if you've tried multiple MSM tools and all completed but if kept booting into crashdump mode, you probably won't be able to fix it yourself. I had the same thing happen to me and the only option was to send it in for a replacement from OnePlus. If that's not an option to send it back for repair / replacement for whatever reason, possibly wait until a new MSM tool is released with Android 11 (or ask OnePlus to remote connect and see if they flash it with Android 11 MSM tool), although even that may not work. Also, once you use MSM tool, it relocks your bootloader and you can't unlock it again until you boot into system and check the oem unlock in developer options. Also, had you searched on here more you could have avoided all this if you only went back because of no root on Android 11 as there are multiple post about how to root Android 11, although that's irrelevant now.
Well i guess thats the only option.. to wait for msm tool with android 11 on it.. until now my phone is dead..

My OnePlus 8 is stuck on fastboot screen and the Msmdownloadtool is not working for me. My phone is not getting detected by my PC. The instructions say that I have to use the original OnePlus cable and I lost mine. Can anyone please tell if it works with 3rd party cables? Thanks.

dead you try to go fastboot mode then turn off, then do the msmtool while pressing the vol up vol down button?
Did you let your device cool down a bit for 30/45 seconds after turning it off?

You should also be able to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS with them if for some reason you want to go back to an older firmware

Warning:
As this happened on OnePlus 8 Pro, it is advised to take backup of /persist partition before crossflashing (eg going from International to Indian build) as fingerprint reader may give an error related to enrollment issue. You can do so by using dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img (you must have root access, which is not something I'm going to explain here) and moving it to your computer/cloud.
Instructions:
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.
Click on Target button and select O2 while using international tool or India while using indian tool or EU when using european tool.
Power your device off.
Maintain volume up and volume down keys to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer using stock OnePlus cable. (You may let volume keys go once done.)
Click on Enum to be sure your device is detected and press Start.
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.

Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.
Why is my antivirus freaking out when unzipping the archive or running the tool?
In an effort to protect reverse engineering from being done (and by extension prevent conversion process like it was done on 6T and 7Pro), OnePlus now use VM Protect V3 in their MSM tools. As this tries to detect debug environment, this is seen as malicious behaviour by some antivirus.
My device isn't detected when I click on "Enum" button
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=qualcomm hs usb 9008 ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.
MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"
Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.
