Further "bugs" i guess are simply due to the chipset not being implemented yet:

- Setting a screen lock crashes the settings and leaves me with a different pin i can't seem to figure out
- Automatic Brightness not working
- No nightlight support

Just if anybody wanted to know.

Still very happy with seeing the first AOSP rom for this device being off to a great start :)

i installed it on my indian bnd-al10 version
is it for international variant only?
i am facing many bugs like, briteness not changing, stuck on google check info page before signing in, etc
Yash, I'm also getting almost all the bugs you mentioned on my bnd-al10. Is sound working? There is no sound after flashing this rom and I do not have Indian stock rom. Do you have a twrp backup of your stock rom which you could share? Thanks in advance!:good: by the way I'm writing this from aosp rom. ;)

After flashing the ROM, make sure you reboot to recovery before flashing Gapps. Then this crashing issue should not be there. Ofcourse, you should do a fresh install while trying this. Good luck!:good:
So what I need to do now is 1- Booting into twrp recovery 2-wipe Data 3-flash the room again 4- reboot the device 5- Booting into recovery again to flash Gapps again, am I missing something?

Standby time is at present lessthan stock rom Screen On TIme

Are u sure you want to use this ROM now? Because the standby time is terrible. Even if you keep the screen off, in a few hours the whole battery is drained. The standby time on this ROM at present is less than the SOT (screenOnTime) with stock rom.

Regarding your question, yes, boot into TWRP, do an advance wipe and wipe cache, data, internal storage etc., except external card and then flash the ROM from ext.card.
Then Reboot into recovery mode again. Then Flash gapps. Reboot.

If internal storage is visible on your PC while you are in TWRP, then you can safely wipe all partitions (do not do this if extra partitions like vendor, cust or product partitions are visible) and then transfer the ROM and gapps to internal storage and then do the flashing (instead of ext.card).

So what I need to do now is 1- Booting into twrp recovery 2-wipe Data 3-flash the room again 4- reboot the device 5- Booting into recovery again to flash Gapps again, am I missing something?

Dude I flashed The AOSP room 4 days ago and ever since I've tried everything to makes gapps works, but couldn't I tried your method but still gapps crashed.. Now I really want to go back to stock again. The worst Thing, I've not made a full backup for the stock room (know I'm an idiot:eek:) my phone is BND-L21 and I really want to get gapps works again:(

Same was my case! Luckily jan.pul posted his twrp backup image which I restored and now I'm back on stock with gaps. Only my build number has changed.

Question/Advice for this ROM dev

AOSP 8.0.0 - Honor 7x

Introduction

Welcome to our first release for the Honor 7X. At this time, the rom state is Beta.

This is AOSP 8.0, based on the Nougat firmware released for the 7X.

How to install:
  • Download the rom from the Downloads section
  • Wipe data from TWRP and remove encryption
  • Flash the provided zip file
  • (Optional) Install Gapps if you are going to use them (now's the moment)
  • Reboot (it may take some time)

Known bugs:
  • Camera (both of them)
  • Bluetooth (intentionally disabled)
  • VoLTE

How to seek help or report a bug:
As always, we need as much information as possible to be able to fix any bug you may come across, so be descriptive and supply as much detail as you can when reporting a bug, not just "wifi not work...help pls".
Finally, I just want to thank the rest of the OpenKirin team (@surdu_petru, @OldDroid) for their huge contributions and all of you for your support.

Keep in mind, this is the first release, we want to see how it's working on the rest of variants and see how to improve it. The bluetooth issue will be fixed in the next update (it's disabled by now) and the cameras will hopefully be fixed as well soon, I'll provide more details in the coming days.

P.S: If you don't have TWRP I have uploaded a basic one in the Downloads section for you to flash the rom.

Hi Dev, Thanks for the ROM and the work you have done on this. Your efforts are really recommendable because you came up with this rom as the first alternative to the stock one.
But since I check this page everyday, I only see issues, issues and issues everywhere in this page.
Why not take this down for the time being to help people save their device from being bricked ? Once it comes with flawless installation of Gapps, signing into google and battery drain atleast from your side, then we can try this.

Being the only ROM, people are going crazy and then resorting into problems after flashing once they come to know that it cannot be used as a daily driver even if you expect only a little out of this.

It's clearly stated, I released it for testing, I actually didn't expect anyone to install gapps and I just wanted to see if the hardware worked. Playstore and that stuff is fixed with a line or two of a Makefile, if you can't read its your problem, not mine.

Its clearly not a daily driver, just read the OP!

And there's no need to PM me the same message, it isn't such a big deal.

I standby you!

Please continue the development. I had no issues whatsoever with gapps or your AOSP ROM other than the reported bugs and other 'serious issues' caused by 'my own negligence.' (Like I wiped all partitions like product.img which would not even be shown while using correct twrp recovery version)
In fact, I totally bricked the phone, went to a service centre today, and they had to replace the mainboard to solve the issue. Now the phone is fine on stock ROM.
While it is clearly not your fault, I would advise those trying your ROM to make a TWRP backup of their every partition before trying this. My phone bricked only when I tried to install firmware meant for another variant. Else everything was fine.:good:

Hey OP, just wanted to say I appreciate the work you and others have put into this ROM. I won't be flashing anything until stock firmware is made available by Huawei, but I'm excited to try this out in the near future!

This thread has been cleaned.

As stated in the OP, this ROM is in a Beta stage meaning that there will be bugs and it is intended to be used for testing purposes. If you cannot accept that and don't want to contribute by testing for bugs then don't flash it, simple as that.

Keep up the great work XePeleato and don't let anyone stop your development. Thanks for the contributions to Huawei and to XDA :good:
