[OPN105G][OOS 86AA/89BA] Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS

Search This thread
Hi. I have a BE2029 and used the BE89AA (BE89BA didn't work, but I'm in uk). The phone is fully restored, but it looks like oem unlocking is grey'd out in the dev options. Which is unfortunate.

Edit: And `fastboot oem/flashing unlock` are both denied in fastboot.
Have you tried connecting device to Internet? Since 8-series oem unlock is disabled in dev options until this is done.

Hi. Version BE86AA 10.5.12 or 10.5.14 You do not have?
Hi, while I would like to, getting those tools is nowadays more complicated.
It is unlikely I will be able to further update this thread (and other MSM threads existing).
Do however feel free to DM me if you would like any insights on how you could potentially obtain them.

pressing hardware volume keys does nothing, pressing them both and power just takes me to fastboot mode, and fastboot doesn't recognise any connected devices.

Device manager shows nothing

Any suggestions?

I had the exact same problem, and I was able to get my phone into EDL by doing the following:
Phone: OnePlus Nord N10 5G
Operating Status: Phone is currently in fastboot, and is not connected to the computer. A USB cable is attached to the computer, and the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 drivers are installed. The computer is running Windows 10.

1. Use the volume buttons to change the top bar in fastboot to say "Power Off". Press the power button to shut the phone down.
2. With the phone now off, press and hold the Volume up and Volume down buttons at the same time. Do not press the power button.
3. Insert the USB Cable that is attached to the computer into the phone. You should hear the hardware found noise from Windows.
4. Release the Volume up and Volume down buttons.
5. Check device manager, you should see the device listed under ports as a Qualcomm 9008 device.

From here, the device should be recognized in MsmDownloadTool V4.0, and it should begin the process of "downloading" the ROM onto your device to reset it back to factory condition.

I was able to unbrick my device using this process.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G
I could use a bit of assistance in getting my phone out of Fastboot. I've tried the instructions on this post and cannot get into EDL Mode.

I would call myself "above average" in tech skills, have successfully installed Lineage or PixelExp on 5 phones for relatives of mine (to give an older phone new life). Have never bricked a phone and am good at following instructions to the letter.

I successfully installed PixelExp on a Nord N10 5G, and decided to move it to Lineage instead. Successfully installed Lineage, Magisk, and the phone booted up fine. Installed MagiskGApps via the Magisk App. Phone rebooted and has been stuck in Fastboot ever since -- 1+ logo with the words "Fastboot Mode" underneath.

I have tried reinstalling Lineage and PixelExp with no success. I've also tried reinstalling the stock firmware, but I get an error message when trying to sideload the zip file. It basically says "expecting a OnePlus Nord N10 and this phone is a OnePlus N10". I choose the option in recovery to ignore the signature error but it still closes out.

After sideloading either Lineage or PixelExp I choose reboot system. I get the warning screen about the unlocked phone (would love to know if there's a .img or .bat to solve that), a screen comes up showing the 1+ logo with the words "Fastboot" underneath, and it comes back to the bootloader.

I cannot break the cycle. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to get out of Fastboot Jail! As mentioned above, I have followed the steps in this thread and cannot get the phone into EDL Mode.

**** Disregard -- I am all set. It just took three times to get EDL Mode up and running.. I am solved. If this worked for you, be sure to use the 'donate' link and recognize the developer with $15. If you need the link, just click on download again and you'll see the link to make a donation.

Thanks

Disclaimer: By attempting any of the processes listed in this thread you accept full responsibility for your actions. I will not be held responsible if your device stops working, catches fire, or turns into a hipster and claims to have been modified before it was cool.

Hi everyone, similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO, regular OP7T, T-Mobile OP7T, regular OP7TPRO, T-Mobile OP7TPro 5G, regular OP8, T-Mobile OP8, Verizon OP8, Visible OP8, OP8Pro, OP Nord and OP8T here are the EDL packages (also known as MSM tools or unbrick tools) that can revive a bricked OnePlus Nord N10.

Albeit it has not been tested, you should hopefully be able to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS with them if for some reason you want to go back to an older firmware :)

Please note that crossflashing regional builds is no longer possible by EDL, flash is tied to device project ID. For reference EU devices project ID is 20889 while international devices project ID is 20886. This has been found with @Elidone unit, which hasn't been able to crossflash EU software on his international device (see second screenshot attached). I therefore assume that same happens when trying to flash international software on EU units.

BE86AA tools (international firmware):

BE89BA tools (european firmware):

Instructions:

Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.

On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.

Press Start button so that it waits for your device to be connected
Power off your device
Maintain volume up and down buttons to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer.
Should you not manage to do that and have adb access, you can use adb reboot edl instead
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.

FAQ:

Does this work on Mac or on Linux?

Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.

Why is my antivirus freaking out when unzipping the archive or running the tool?

In an effort to protect reverse engineering from being done (and by extension prevent conversion process like it was done on 6T and 7Pro), OnePlus now use VM Protect V3 in their MSM tools. As this tries to detect debug environment, this is seen as malicious behaviour by some antivirus.

How can I check my device project ID?

Use getprop ro.boot.project_name. This however involve having ADB access or access to OxygenOS to use Termux or whatever terminal emulator you prefer.

My device isn't detected

Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsof...updateid=8ee52ba0-bdef-4009-88cf-335a678dd67a ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.

If you can't get into EDL mode by hardware keys, you may use adb reboot edl (will require your phone to still have ADB access)

MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"

Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.

MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"

Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.

What is SMT Download mode?

Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.

How can I fix "SMT config not found" error?

Did you assemble these osp files yourself? Is there a guide that outlines the procedure including packing/repacking this file and modifying the included super.img?

I use the MsM software that my device was advertised as, 89/BE2029/global, and MsM says that I need to use the EU/86/2026 version MsM. The EU/86/2026 version of MsM worked, but my about phone page still tells me that the phone is 89/BE2029/global, even though the MsM software told me otherwise. Where the hell do I go from here in regards to getting the OOS A11 rom going and rooted, I am so confused on the next step to take considering the mixed messages I'm getting from software.

Global = North America = BE2026 = Single SIM = 20886 in MSM
International = EU = BE2029 = Dual SIM = 20889 in MSM

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but does it do that EVERY time?

If you have the tool running, waiting for connection, and THEN hold the volume buttons on a powered-down phone and plug in the cable, what happens? IIRC you only have like 10 seconds for it to recognize the connection and start the process. Once it is RUNNING you can drop the button hold and let it go, but if you get the tail end, I am not sure it finishes its handshake or whatever.

FWIW I've never heard of a OP getting bricked that EDL can't fix, unless it was PHYSICALLY damaged...

Do you have unbrick tool Android 11?

For me all links are working. They are not hosted by OnePlus, @Some_Random_Username uploaded to google Drive and AFH, so they are OK.
Actually not Google Drive but rather a server (which was under DDOS attack yesterday) 😅

    Maybe you didnt understand me,

oem unlocking button is greyed out.

Then search on internet WHY and HOW to solve.

OnePlus must have taken down the tool cause none of the links are working. Anyone have a download link

@newagno T-Mobile devices need to get an unlock token prior to being able to unlock bootloader, you can submit an application at https://www.oneplus.com/unlock_token

Should you have any other concerns on the matter, please take it to another thread, as we went quite offtopic from the original subject (unbricking EU and global N10 units sold by OnePlus themselves)

Hey I'm running a rooted Android 11 BE86AA (N10 5G Global) and I'm experiencing some bugs (nothing major, just stutters). I hear a lot of people saying Android 10 is a little bit better for this device than 11, so I'm considering downgrading.

You think it's worth it? Custom ROMs are alright, but it seems all we have for this device are buggy Android 11 OSes.
Actually I did downgrade to OOS 10 just to check things out. As it turns out this firmware is much better in terms on browsing performance (CPU throttling might be completely different?)

Anyway, here are the benchmark results (created a lot more with different scenarios just to be sure of course)

Nore: on Android 11 I usually get a score of 16-20 (with all browsers, sometimes 40 if the application is started for the first time!)

Hi. Do you have a new version 10.5.9.BE86AA?
Hi, no, most likely because 10.5.9 got released too recently (today is first time I'm hearing of that build).
I however have 10.5.8 which I aim to release in next days.

For those unfamilliar, you don't need latest version to unbrick your device, it's just a convenience to restore to a newer build.
