Can you help me? I have the problem of "(boot/recovery) has been destroyed" I have tried the MSM tool and there is no way for the device to accept it, when I put it in EDL Mode. Windows picks up the Qualcomm drivers and after a few seconds it disconnects and the message "(boot/recovery) has been destroyed" comes up again.

I can only enter fastboot mode.... I do not know what to do. I have run out of device

Hello everybody,
I have a problem because my oneplus Nord stuck in in fastboot mode.
Since there is is no MSM tool any more, I have no idea to flash stock ROM to unbrick my device. I have used the All in One tool, my devices still detected and the flash process start normally, but then I get error,... can not flash critical Partition?
Is there maybe one of you, with some other solutions for me.
I have no system no recovery only fastboot.
Flashing TWRP or orange Fox is not possible, did not work.
Nice politics from oppo, to stop all the MSM stuff!!! Friendly people.

Thnx markus

It worked, thanks. OOS is at android 12 now, correct ? Last Masigk claims there is no system_ext block device. What does it means ? Why there are no > 10 EDL tools ?

Hey guys. I have used this tool to unbrick my nord before, no problems. But I can't seem to get it to work properly now.
After a few seconds the tool fails with the error message "Firehose Communication Handshake Failed".
Steps tried:
- Using a Windows 10 machine instead
- Reboot
- Reinstall of all drivers
- Using newest (10.5.11) and oldest (10.5.2) Versions
- Using Lite Firehose (as seen in the screenshots) instead of not checking the checkbox

Anyone got an idea what I could try next?

Edit: After trying for hours, I tried a different usb-c cable, like statet EVERYWHERE. Works now.
Classic RTFM

Hi :) I think I hard-bricked my OnePlus Nord... (It cannot even boot into fastboot mode any more.)
I tried the MSM tool over and over again, but it always stops at "Param preload" "6s" "Device not match image".
I tried 10.5.2 and 10.5.11, different USB cables and I tried it multiple times. Is there anything I could do?

Same here, only I still have access to fastboot. The problem may have to do with the issue mentioned by mbootsman1 above.

Can someone please confirm this, as I am little insecure (with usual disclaimer that I am solely responsible for what happens if I do it).
I have AC2003 with F.19 and I am not satisfied how my phone behaves. I wish to downgrade to OOS11.
So, I must download appropriate tool from first post and run it to install OOS10.
Then I have to download ZIP file with 11.1.11.11 from [OnePlus Nord][ROM][OTA][Oxygen OS] Repo of Oxygen OS Builds and flash it.
And that's should be it?
Are there any pitfalls, caveats?
This phone is my daily driver and I don't want to mess things up. Thank you!

Hi everyone, similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO, regular OP7T, T-Mobile OP7T, regular OP7TPRO, T-Mobile OP7TPro 5G, regular OP8, T-Mobile OP8 and OP8Pro here are the EDL packages (also known as MSM tools or unbrick tools) that can revive a bricked OnePlus Nord.

You can also rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS with them if for some reason you would like to go back to an older firmware :)

You can download the following versions:

AC01AA tools (global firmware):
ANDROID 10:

AC01BA tools (european firmware):
ANDROID 10:

AC01DA tools (indian firmware):
ANDROID 10:

Warning:

As this happened on OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro Pro, it is advised to take backup of /persist partition before crossflashing (eg going from European to Indian build) as fingerprint reader may give an error related to enrollment issue. You can do so by using dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img (you must have root access, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-nord/how-to/guide-how-to-root-oneplus-nord-t4139411 for that) and moving it to your computer/cloud.

Instructions:

Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.

On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.
Click on Target button and select O2 while using global tool or India while using indian tool or EU when using european tool.
Press Start button (this is done so that device will be "captured" automatically by tool instead of going back to normal boot after 10 seconds)

Power your device off.
Let it cool down for one minute.
Maintain volume up and volume down keys for at least 40 seconds to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer using stock OnePlus cable. (You may let volume keys go once done.)
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.

FAQ:

Does this work on Mac or on Linux?

Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.

Why is my antivirus freaking out when unzipping the archive or running the tool?

In an effort to protect reverse engineering from being done (and by extension prevent conversion process like it was done on 6T and 7Pro), OnePlus now use VM Protect V3 in their MSM tools. As this tries to detect debug environment, this is seen as malicious behaviour by some antivirus.

My device isn't detected

Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=qualcomm hs usb 9008 ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.

MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"

Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.

MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"

Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.

What is SMT Download mode?

Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.

How can I fix "SMT config not found" error?

So, in short:
1. download and install Qualcomm HS-USB drivers
2. run MSM tool
3. reboot in EDL mode: adb reboot edl
4. start action on MSM tool, wait to finish
5. phone reboots, set it up, it will notify of newer version of OOS 11.1.11.11 - upgrade it
6. done.
7 (optional). to disable further upgrade notification: adb shell; pm disable-user --user 0 com.oneplus.opbackup

Hey folks, I managed to brick my OnePlus Nord AC 2003.

I can get into EDL mode, I can get the MSM tool to connect to the phone, but after 6sec into the process the MSM tool shows the error "Device not matches image".
I tried Oxygen_OS10.5.11 for EU, Global and India - the device should be a EU device. But I get the same error for all three image versions.

I'm using the stock Nord cable and tried USB 2.0 and 3.0 for all combinations.

Does anybody know what can I do about this error?

Is there any other tool to flash Qualcomm based phones?

Hi,
Thanks for this post. My phone is currently on OOS 12, the latest one. I would like to try some custom roms like Pixel experience or Evolution. I want to have this MSM tool as a precaution.

Can I use the OOS 10 if it bricks on OOS12 or any custom roms based on Android 13?

Could you please provide the latest MSM tools for Oneplus Nord? (The first oneplus nord)

Hi! I have a AC2003 (Europa) That is bricked and is impossible to unbrick. I have tried every version of MSM and every version of every driver I could find (Reinstalling windows after each attempt) and still nothing works. I am getting the Device not match image error. I tried every fix and every trick but nothing works.

Any help would be great

Hi there, can you please the following:
- what has led to the brick
- whether the device not match image error explicitly says the current project ID (eg 20886 on the second screenshot of my Nord N10 thread)

I haven't used EDL mode personally, but I found these two extra hints in this thread:

Try adb reboot edl as an alternative.

    Use the original usb cable.

How do I do the adb reboot edl?
Is your phone bricked? If not which ROM and recovery are you currently using?

I don’t know if is bricked, I see this on fastboot mode. i tried this msm https://onepluscommunityserver.com/list/Unbrick_Tools/OnePlus_Nord/Global_AC01AA/Q/
The device state is locked, so I think you are using OxygenOS? Can you startup the OS normally? Or is only fastboot mode starting? I read your old messages but I still don't understand the current state of your phone and why you are trying to use MSM tool. Can you give mire information? Without it is really hard to give instructions.
    1
. I'm trying msm tool because from what I understand you need it to unlock the boot loader. b
Well strictly speaking you don't need to use the MSM tool to unlock the device bootloader, now with that said if booting Android keeps leading to the Qualcomm crashdump mode, then of course you'll need to use the MSM tool first to flash OOS before enabling the OEM unlock toggle in the developer options.

How do I know it the Device is in edl mode?
Have the device manager window opened, scroll to the COM and LTP ports sections and expand it. If you notice its window is refreshed immediately after plugging the device while the screen is still off, then it should be properly detected, and clicking on the Enum button in the MSM tool window should list it.

Ok, that helps to understand your situation better. I googled a little bit, maybe you can use the fastboot mode to get into edl mode.

First install fastboot.exe, if you haven't before:

If your phone is detected, it is printed.

Have you used the original USB cable or different cables?

Maybe it helps to install Google USB drivers: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
I don't believe fastboot oem edl ever existed on OnePlus devices.

Disclaimer: By attempting any of the processes listed in this thread you accept full responsibility for your actions. I will not be held responsible if your device stops working, catches fire, or turns into a hipster and claims to have been modified before it was cool.

    It worked for me,
After unlocking and locking bootloader and ended with corrupted device on locked bootloader
This method helped to solve it.

This is a brand new set and I first noticed it after I set up my phone. The usual data transfers, reinstalling apps etc. But now, it will not go away. Im thinking it's like that out of the box, just that I did not notice it earlier.

So far I have not had any issues functionality wise and my local OP support tells me to ignore it and a future update will fix it. They're not sure of the cause either and could not fix it.

This message keeps coming back even after multiple factory resets + a ROM reflash. I'm trying to rule out a hardware issue.

I did notice that this app is one of those that you remove when you debloat your OP set. I'm sure it would go away if I did that but if theres an underlying issue I might just be setting myself up for a catastrophic failure in future.

    @ Some_Random_Username

I have a NVBackupUI(thread here) error msg that refuses to go away.

I have used your guide to reflash OOS 10.5.2 but the error message is still there.

Do you by any chance have any idea on a way to resolve this?

Unfortunately no idea, MSM tool in upgrade mode doesn't touch to NV items.
Either wait a new OOS build after 10.5.4 or RMA your device.

Hi, my friend really messed up with his phone. Phone currently have encrypted data partition. Problem is that msmtool doesn't detect phone at all, also device manager doesn't show it while its in msmtool. Anything he can do?

Make sure his device is off before trying to get in Qualcomm HS-USB 9008 mode, that was something we ran into during testing.
Also as a sidenote encryption state of the phone doesn't matter to use this tool.
