Thanks for your answer.

No. Definitely not. I have never heard of this possibility.

I have to investigate firstly how this installation can be carried out. I fear, if the installation requires the transfer of the ROM onto the phone via USB, that the lack of a data connection between the computer and the phone might finally prevent me from succeeding with this option.
Well, this installation requests a very good cvonnection between PC and Phone., but it's doesn't use a classic MTP connection, so, you can try it.

Here is a instruction on Rusiian forum: h t tp : / / 4 p da.ru/forum/index. php?s=&showtopic=776127& view=findpost&p=64266452 (remove spaces, i cant simply add it because a small rate of posts). Use a Google Translate to see it.
But i must to notice, what you do this at your own risk!

Thank you nikith290.
My PC does not recognize my phone (as opposed to the other identical ones we have in the family (but without the update)). Did not succeed.

Since updating notifications has stopped for some apps and the battery doesn't hold its charge as well as it used to.

When updating Android on other phones there were certain things to do after the update, such as deleting (if I remember correctly) cache and data.

Does this need to be done now and if I do how do I go about it?

My sister has the Swift 2 X and she has similar problems but she also has charging problems which I don't have.

Thanks

It's always recommended to delete cache and to do a factory reset if possible after any update.

You can do this via the stock recovery

It works...

Download the official Recovery SW82-WF-MARMITE-8.1-UOS273C-RECOVERY.zip from:
I updated my Magisk-Rooted Stock 7.1 by flashing using twrp - without dalvic-deletion - and reinstalled Magisk 16 right afterwards.
Everything works, but you will lose any previous received SMS.
Worked like a charm, thanks...

This got weird.

I tried multiple times to install nougat via fastboot.
I must have unlocked and relocked by bootloader like 3 times.

It wouldn't flash nougat but after the bootloader lock/unlock wiping my phone - my phone is crazily much better.
It's not crashing, it's not requiring a restarts. It's good.

The only thing i'm doing differently from before is using foxhole instead of Nova.

This is why it is always recommended to do a factory reset after a big update :) Glad to hear your problems are solved.

The fact that a wipe improves issues is not weird, it's expected. But I can assure you that there's not necessarily anything wrong with Nova - I used it for over a year without the slightest issue. I'm on Foxhole now and debating if I'll go back, but Nova's wonderful...

I had previously done about 5 factory resets and the phone had still been buggy, slow and randomly freezing.

It wasn't until I did the wipe via bootloaded unlock/lock that the phone functioned properly.
I'm guessing the factory reset via the android OS isn't that great and resetting via recovery might have also helped better as well.
