Sorry but this has got to be the worst Android OS I ever laid hands on. After jumping through hoops to get everything functional... took me a couple hour nap, woke up and turned my phone on and app after app after app is crashing. Even tried a reset and still everything crashing and I didn't have anything but the OS installed. I'm rolling back to 4.4 tomorrow.
Mine runs smooth as butter. Boot into recovery, wipe data, dalvik, system, and internal storage. From recovery, boot to download mode. Odin NG2 . ONCE NG2 is installed, and your phone is at the start screen, boot into stock recovery, and install update zip. Let it install and reboot. That's how I did it. I wouldn't restore any data. Start out %100 fresh.

My last attempt I did exactly as you suggested. Was running nice and smooth too and before I went to sleep I turned the phone off... 2 hours later turned it back on and it was going crazy with gapps, Google, YouTube, Google Play Services, SMCC Service (just too name the few I recall) crashing left and right.

Is there expected to be an MD5 file of this in the future that wouldn't require having to have NG2 installed first?

Did you try wiping everything including internal storage? You also could very well have a bad download. I have had zero issues and imo, this is by far the best update from Samsung/Sprint to date....well worth the wait.
I tried everything, even download another copy from a different server then what I originally got it from because I was also getting apps crashing on the first one.

Ran into the same issue after trying to install a custom recovery. Knox doesn't like it and you will get LOTS of FC and probably never get a functional desktop. I flashed the stock recovery and then re-ran the update.zip file and the planets aligned again and everything is working.

Next step is to find out how to get a custom recovery past Knox.

If anyone has had success let the group know.

Lollipop Upgrade

Just finished. Took about an hour to upgrade. Its a Gig file. Used the Mega download. Double checked. Checksum. Installed in Diag Mode with no issue. Put file on your External SD card. Phone seems warmer. It worked hard but seems normal. I cleaned some apps off but layered on top of my KitKat rather than a fresh install. A little slow as apps get adjusted but no hanging. Will report after todays use. SPH-L720. I like the fresh look.

Trying to get the S5 clock widget to work. Shows in the widget drawer, but it's just a black box on the screen, and FCs.sprint zone isn't working either.tried the one from the s5,and still a no go.
You'll also need the S5 weather daemon apk and "may" also need the S5 launcher. Sac will be updating Albe95 soon which will have all this and more.

So with a lot of hesitation and because I have A.D.D. and hate giving up on things, I stayed up most of the night and what I did was:

Loaded into TWRP, went into Advanced Wipe and checked off Dalvik, System, Data, Internal and Cache... and wiped 3 times in a row.
Rebooted into Download Mode and used Odin to install NG2 and once it was installed and rebooted... I shutdown
Loaded into TWRP again and installed OD2
Shutdown and loaded into Download Mode and used Odin to install the latest CF Auto Root and rebooted
Shutdown and loaded into Download Mode and used Odin to install latest TWRP and rebooted
Did the SD Card fix and rebooted
I then slowly started going through settings and changing only a 2 or 3 at a time and rebooted to keep track what if anything might have an issue
Started installing apps one at a time and rebooting after each.

What I can say so far is this. Runs fantastic and no app crashes like I experienced prior to this latest install. (I did realize the version of CF Auto Root was one version behind the latest release... maybe that was the culprit for my previous headaches?)

Battery life (less than one day of use) seems on par with what I was getting in KitKat, but we'll see how things go over the next few days. I did read somewhere that if battery life is poor... disabling Unified Daemon(EUR) in App Manager may help. I might try this after a couple days and see if there is any difference.

Tried installing S5 email and it wouldn't work, even removed the default email and still no go. So now I'm stuck using Gmail that I hate. Is there a copy of S5 email from 5.0 that I could try?

I do have one BIG problem... internet is SLOW as could be. Everything just loads in slow motion and I get the same slow results in Google, Puffin and Play Store. I'm connected the same way as in KitKat and my home internet is not the problem as everything loads fast. Home Results: 30.05 Mbps Down - 6.08 Mbps Up and Phone results (Using SpeedTest app) : 30.26 Mbps Down - 6.71 Mbps Up. Which makes no sense since the apps I mentioned take forever to load pages.

ATTENTION: Wi-Fi Issue Resolution

If you are having problems with Wi-Fi connecting and disconnecting repeatedly, try disabling WMM on the home router.

This was an issue with 4.4.2, but if you forgot coming from a custom ROM, the issue may reveal itself again.

I tried this on a router running Tomato firmware.

Other than that, no major bugs observed. Performed an update through zip from NG2 stock, allowed phone to update completely, then performed a factory reset and manually installed my apps/settings.

Was updating from non-root and all stock. Did a clean install (wiped everything) and installed from recovery . Install went fine and no apps are crashing for me. I am noticing a battery drain, but I will give it a couple of days before making final judgement. Performance wise it is running great .

Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Free mobile app

Actually you reminded me of something and it fixed my WiFi problem. On 4.4 my phone was freezing all the time and looked high and low for a fix and nothing worked, until I came across a thread that mentioned turning off the WiFi Power Save Mode... turned that off... rebooted and everything is normal now :D

Lollipop Upgrade

A few programs are hanging a little. Once battery gets to 5% it shuts down on its own. Battery life seems the same. Maybe a little better. Its not using as much juice on video screen. Considering i layered it over a 2 year old phone its working well.
