So, if I flash the 4.3 with MobileOdin would root be kept?

I think root will be gone, because some app (Knox?) in the firmware blocks it.
Is there a way, to flash the recovery without PC Odin?
MobileOdin wouldn't work, because root would be gone.

What are the steps after flashing with MobileOdin?

Do I need to flash Philz for using your wifi-patch?

Using the wifi-patch if neccessary?

Do I need to use your tool to disable Knox?

Currently I'm using rooted stock 4.1.2 with stock recovery.

Thank you in advance

Regards

Edit : yet there is a easiest way is root existing ROM and flash latest ROM using Mobile Odin. that won't flash bootloader, if you don't have wifi working just flash Fix from post #2 with PC Odin.

yeah you can use it
sorry, was this in response to my question or the question after mine

EDIT: thank you very much to this community. i decided to take the plung and use the "easiest" method as described by dr ketan.

i was using a pre dmg1 4.1.2 rom (specifically with bootloader dmc2).
to get to 4.3 firmware, i was was rooted on the rom and used mobile odin to flash my regions latest rom,MK2.
after reboot, wifi didnt work as expected. so i flashed the wifi fix. i rebooted once again.wifi was working.
i shutdown and went to download mode to flash recommended 5.1.5.0 CWM recovery and rebooted.
Then i went into recovery and flashed advanced tool to root the device and update super user as described.

i experienced one system force close on the first boot and at one point after flashing wifi fix, it seemed liked wifi didnt want to turn on again. but i didnt wipe any data or cach during the whole flashing process and another reboot seems to have fixed that issue. I can confirm i am still on my old DMC2 bootloader.

thank you again dr. ketan and all others that contributed.

To root stock Firmwares, use framaroot or kingo root app.

When you "Trip Knox Counter" you only void your phone's warranty right? It does not ruin any of the phones functionality?

Because as of now, I'm running on latest OTA 4.3 MK9. And I just want to root (I dont care about warranty). Will this work for me?

[Update]

After making a cwm-bu my wifi is gone again.

Crap, going back to 4.1.2.

Samsung, never again!

[/Update]

Used MobileOdin, rooted and deknoxed with MultitoolV5.
(some tweaks in multitool didn't work and frooze my note2)

Had wifi without wifi-fix but got problems with it after installing xposed fw.
wifi-fix wasn't working so I restored framework in multitool.

S-Note isn't working
for my rooted N7100.

FCs after clicking it.

Searching for a cure.

Regards

Got another question. I'm currently running on Stock 4.3 MJ9. Can I just flash Philz recovery through odin, then flash a custom ROM?

You can flsh philz recovery via pc odin... i did that sometime back. The trick here is to not let the phone boot as soon as the recovery flash is done and the phone auto reboots else the custom recovery is overwritten by stock again. i was able to get it done in like 3 steps. Finally i found that i should not even let it get to the samsung logo.

do onething take the back cover out so you have immediate access to the battery. as soon as odin flashes the recovery and displays a pass and phone is about to reboot pull the battery out. insert the battery and press vol up + home and power. you will see custom recovery. you can run Dr. Ketan's tool.

[Tool] Root | DeKnox | Debloat | CSC & Build.prop Fs | EFS | Wifi FIX on Old bootloader

I am rewriting this thread to make available common tool at one place. Though this tool is available since long but newbies unable to find it.
Here is description How this tool can be useful on latest 4.3 ROM
I used the steps described to root and deknox the device however I am facing one issue. Some apps for now majorly firewall related apps are giving an error that device is not rooted. I have tried droidwall as well as avast but unable to turn firewall on. i downloaded rootchecker and it shows device is rooted. i have even been able to use other apps which need root. Firewall is an issue, not yet checked with titanium backup... will check that too..

any info as to why firewall apps say device aint rooted. They dont even prompt for the super su dialog box for allowing access. Just say that device aint rooted as soon as i press the checkbox for firewall.

My WiFi is still not working!! Please help!!

I flashed the PIT file and wifi_reboot_fix using PC ODIN several times.

Have tried different modems for N7100 using the Modem Changer tool.

Have refreshed Dr. Ketan's ROM several times to the flash the PIT and wifi_reboot_fix files

Everything is working great. Have no FC ' and reboot issues.

Currently my baseband is MJ9 and my bootloader is MJ5.

BIG thank you for any pointer for me. I am really out of ideas.

The baseband number of my phone changed to N7100DDEMK1 and the Build Number to JSS15J.N7100XXUEMKD from MJ9 and MK4 respectively, after a 14 MB update this morning. Is that supposed to mean anything significant?

What is the downside of not updating the bootloader

Just updated from stock 4.1.2 to stock 4.3 with Mobile Odin Pro, used everroot and injected odin and supersu.
Wifi did not work initially, but the wifi fix solved that issue - thank you drketan..

As I understand it, this means that I do not have the KNOX container because I'm on an old bootloader. Supersu disabled the KNOX notification app, and I have frozen all other knox related apps with Titanium Backup. - apart from a permission issue (klogcpl) when enabling avast firewall , everything seems to be working fine.
When in download mode there is no mention of KNOX..
So the upside is I'm able to downgrade firmware to 4.1.2, and I do not have the KNOX warrenty bit - correct me if I'm wrong?

My question is - what is the downside of having the old bootloader (if I don't need (or want..) KNOX)?

And one more question: what exactly does the wifi fix do? Why is wifi broken with the old bootloader? (the short medium level explanation.. :))

Thanks

John
