I'm currently on Android 4.3, baseband N7100XXUENA3 and build no. JSS15J.N100XXUENC3. How exactly should I root this? Can I use root tools mentioned with other versions or is there a specific root tool for this version?
Don't use latest cwm
Use philz v5.15
Flash above said cwm Then use Multitool mentioned in op to root device.

Philz 6 gets stuck with aroma.
Philz 5.15 is best for aroma.
You can also use TWRP 2.7.2

I noticed that Philz5.15 is not good with recognizing my external sd card so I swtched back to philz latest.

After installing this ROM you can use any recovery you prefer.

Hi there Doc, I hope you could shed light on the issue I had.
So i got this phone used and it is already running dr. Ketan's V6 ROM, mk4 and mj9 modem. And it had serious issues.
1. Everytime I lock device or device goes to sleep it does not wake up (sleep of death i think) and I had to reboot to get the device working again.
2. Bluetooth won't turn on.
Now after A LOT of reading i finally was able to fix the phone. Here's what i did.
1. Flashed stock MK4 from sammobile. Reboot and i had emergency calls only issue. BUT this resolved bluetooth and sleep of death issue.
2. Flashed TWRP and Root file via odin.
3. Flashed patched mk4 kernel and patched mj9 modem via TWRP. This resolved emergency calls only issue but broke wifi.
4. Flashed wifi patch fix via odin, phone reboot to recovery, reboot phone from recovery and still no wifi.
5. Flashed mj5 bootloader in Odin to try fix wifi but failed in odin (unsupported version)
6. Found a post that already had a backed up lkm_sec_info file from another instruction. Copy/paste to system and boom! Wifi is now working!!
After all this I had this annoying Knox notifications. I updated supersu and after update supersu asked to disable knox and i clicked yes and no more knox notifications.
So now i have a fully working bug free stock rooted MK4 rom.
I have a few questions that i hope i could get answers to so i can fully understand why this issue happened.
1. Does all n7100 have emergency call only issue when on 4.3..? Why?
2. What do you think caused the sleep of death issue? (Im thinking the previous owner flashed patched mj9 modem without flashing patched mk4 kernel, or vice versa. i may be wrong though)
3. ANY rom i flash seem to now have not registered on network issue, but i can't make it work coz i only have the mk4 patched kernel, i think I'm stuck with only mk4 based roms. Any ideas?

I'm stuck on step 2. I'm in recovery but I can't install DrKetan kit without an sd card? Already flashed phil. I'm on 4.3. Do I need a particular version?
Edit: Phil wasn't properly installed (even though I got a PASS). Do I need a particular stock ROM?

I'm on official stock 4.3 Build number JSS15J.N7100DDUENA1. I only want to root 4.3 to install xposed. I have no idea why Philz isn't installing properly (USB dev mode on, PASS on Odin, etc). Do you recommend some other way/guide? Thanks for taking the time to answer me.

Okay great. By the way which one?
And philz recovery gets overwritten everytime by stock recovery on the latest rom so you should not let the phone boot normally after flashing philz.
You need to directly go to philz.

Give it a try these steps to root.. Superbly working on my updated DDUENA1 rom..
1.Flash and root with cf-autoroot..after restart
2.flash philz recovery (this time u will defenetly go to philz touch on recovery mode after flashing)
3.Use Multitool to deknox. OR update supersu and remove knox apps from supersu pop up window at first time.
4.Then install xposed.. It will work fine

Does "DrKetan Multitool adv V6" still works for rooting N7100 on 4.4 ND3?
