A thing to keep in mind is that all of the firmware posted here will work on any N986U/U1 devices regardless of the carrier. I only post the carrier name next to the firmware so we can ID which are the current stock so folks can get OTA.
Is there a link to ATT user data file anywhere for bit 2?

I was looking for the thread about how to root, but I cant seem to find it. One of the guys here was rooted, and I THINK he was forced to stay on a specific build because the root method wasn't with the current OTA builds
Hello kangi26.. I've been out for a while. In regards to root status on Note20 Ultra, that was me. Yes, if you are on bootloader 1 you can root your note 20 but if you upgrade to bootloader version 2 you will lose your root and won't be able to root it again until someone finds a different way of doing it. That's for snapdragon version.

If I flash U1 onto my ATT Note 20U, will I lose any carrier services? Wifi / HD Calling works now, without any extra steps? Or do I need to flash the CSC still?

TOTALLY frustrated with ATT's delay in pumping out updates.

Sorry for asking this, the search isn't working for me, for some reason.

When I had my N20U I was on ATT and flashed the U1 firmware and I had Wi-fi calling. You will need to flash the BL/AP/CP/CSC (NOT the HOME_CSC) and it will wipe your device. As a side note all of the firmware is basically released on the same basic schedule(ish), so U1 will be as frustrating as the carrier

Thanks for this. Yeah, ATT Still hasn't released the download for OTA on this latest -- I'm sick and tired of ATT doing things different. I want a more stock experience, so I'm gonna wipe and flash. Thanks!

If you've not run the U1 before, visually it's going to be EXACTLY the same as the carrier versions (Except the boot splash screen of course).

My understanding is that I'll remove the bloat, and get a different caller id, and a few other things. Also, I suspect ATT Smart WIFI is causing problems with my handoff on data connections to my cell signal.

Oh, not to mention... I'll get the One UI version of Google Messages...

UPDATE:
Did what was suggested, didn't flash HOME.... ATT Wifi calling worked out of the box, no issues.

THANKS!

Hey there I'm currently using a Note 20 Ultra SM-N986U (ATT variant) with the baseband version being N986USQU2DUF2. The phone is unlocked as I am able to use my Malaysian Sim Card on the phone itself. I couldn't update the phone via OTA as ATT requires me to use an ATT Sim and connected to their network in the US, which is a problem to me because I'm living in Malaysia.

I wanna ask, can I just flash an updated firmware here? I'm afraid that it will brick my device leaving me with no way of restoring it, or on the other hand, I would lose my unlocked version that I currently have to being locked to ATT network. Are these real risks that I may face?

Eitherways, I am a noob in terms of flashing these newer phones especially phone that is carrier based. Which firmware should I actually download? I do not wish to install the U1 firmware unless I absolutely have to.

Yes you can just make sure you leave userdata empty and in CSC slot put Home_CSC that way it will just update your phone with no wipe.

Good to know my man. I'm having issues getting 5G+ on my Note 20, I tried everything regarding the network, (i work on an AT&T store and did the troubleshooting, sim card swap, network reset, without luck), only thing I haven't tried is to factory reset the phone. And also I haven't put my hands on another Note 20 U here to test. It was just to see if other users here were getting 5G+ on their note.

Only thing i get is 5G both phones never seen 5G+ On My AT&T Note20 Ultra 5G Snapdragon 512GB or even my S22 Ultra 5G Snapdragon
    512GB
I live in Laramie Wyoming so not sure if that's something i would have to test more if going to Colorado Denver.
Yeah as far as I know, is not as widespread so it might also be that there's no 5G+ in your area yet. If you see something at any time let me know! I would appreciate it.

See Post #2 and #3 for the Links to the Firmware
ALL of the firmware posted here can be flashed on any N986U/N986U1 Device. The firmware is NOT carrier dependent and is only listed next to some of them in order to have an idea if you might get OTA when you flash it

    Understanding Firmware naming:

    N986USQU1ATGM
    N=Note
986U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader revision (This is important! You cannot go to a previous revision)
    A,B,C,D = Android version
    T, U = Year (T=2020, U=2021 etc)
    A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L)
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z
    So N986USQU1ATGM would be
    N968-U-SQ-U-1-A-T-G-M
    N968U (Note 20 Ultra Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build 10), T (2020), G (July), M (22nd build)

    How to enter Download Mode:
    Turn off the device.
Connect USB cable to your PC (Leave it disconnected from the phone)
Press and hold down the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. While they are still pressed, plug in the USB cable into your phone.
The phone will go into download mode press volume up. In Odin you will see that phone is added.

    Dirty Flash:
I would only do this if you are having to manually update to the newer firmware and would not do it if you are coming/going to U/U1 or from beta firmware or if you are on an old firmware. I'd also highly recommend doing a back up prior to the doing this
    Load these into Odin
    BL
    AP
    CP
    HOME_CSC
Do NOT flash CSC or USERDATA, either of these WILL wipe your device
This is a "dirty flash" and these can sometimes cause issues. Keep in mind if things start going sideways and stuff starts not working right, your first step to a solution will be to wipe the device.

    Tips on flashing U1 Firmware:
You will have to wipe, can NOT dirty Flash going between U and U1 firmware
Use the patched ODIN linked in post #2 or #3, Odin3_v3.13.3b (They are exactly the same)
Have an active US Carrier SIM installed to get carrier features

If you get your CSC Stuck on XAA/XAA/(Insert your carrier here), and can not get Carrier options back.
Go to the tutorial that @borijess put together HERE

Just a little heads up to everyone. When Android 12 drops for U1, I'll be removing the Beta stuff since we wont need it any longer. I try to keep things a little clean and tidy 😁
