Same as U (good signal), might be placebo but I feel like data speeds are a little faster tbh.
I'll get back to you in a couple of days once I get a feel for it.

Just an FYI,
If anyone accidently unplugs, loses power during update, you can do the following to redo, your not bricked.

What to do if you accidently unplug your USB cable or other mishap updating your software.
First off, your screen will have a triangle with an exclamation mark with an error message.
1. Exit Odin
2. Unplug USB cable from phone
3. Hold volume down and power (bixby) button until it turns off, keep holding it until you see the Samsung Note 20 logo come up, then release buttons.
4. The phone will not go into the recovery menu; if it doesn’t, repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. In the recovery menu, scroll down (vol dn) until you select power off.
6. Once the phone powers off, hold the vol up, vol dn and power button until you see the teal back ground and warning; press volume up to get into the download mode
7. Start Odin and hook up USB cable.

Make sure you are using a good USB cable and not he one supplied w/ the phone as that one is for power only and does not have the data transfer capability.

You can flash any firmware to any device of the same model. Even swapping between U and U1 in either direction.

Samsung pay will work regardless.

OTA will work as long as you flash all of the U, and flash to a version released by ATT. If you flash a version they skip, it'll break your OTA until you flash something att has released.

As for features its hit or miss. My Note 10 U1 plus couldn't get VOLTE or Wifi calling, even on U. They need to white list the imei which they don't typically do. Very much a YMMV. A little late now but if you're planning on using att your better off buying an ATT U device than unlocked. I switched to t-mobile for that reason

It's years since I've been back to the scene, I'm talking about the days of the Note 4 locked bootloader and the bounty placed on the unlock so I'm a bit lost here. So from what you're saying, I've got an AT&T locked Ultra that I plan on using with T-Mobile after I can source an unlock code, came with N986USQU1ATGP can be fully flashed to T-Mobile's N986USQU1ATH4 firmware and henceforth will act like a T-Mobile variant, receiving any future T-Mobile OTA updates?

If the above statement is true, then are the steps to flashing T-Mobile's firmware onto my AT&T phone any different than the steps already outlined in this thread for flashing the U1 variant to a carrier specific variant?

Thanks.

Yes and steps are the same, just att has specific steps for wifi calling.

I'd recommend you flash unlocked firmware, your sim should automatically detect your carrier and provision your services

If I flash "N986U1UEU1ATH3" on Note 20 Ultra - U1. Will I get ATT wifi calling? Or I have to flash U CSC as well?

So you're saying instead of flashing T-Mobile's N986USQU1ATH4 firmware over my AT&T N986USQU1ATGP firmware, I should just flash the U1 firmware from Frija with my T-Mobile SIM in the phone and let it provision itself to the T-Mobile variant?

Thanks.

Edit: Will that still enable OTA updates from T-Mobile down the line? Also, why do you recommend doing it this way vs just flashing T-Mobile's firmware straight over AT&T firmware?

Got my phone and followed below steps and I have Wifi Calling, Voicemail etc from ATT without bloatware Apps. And phone also show Warranty Void as 0.
1) Setup Phone with ATT sim card in, setup with carrier settings
2) Flashed U1 N986U1UEU1ATH3 full firmware
3) Restarted after flash and no changes on the mobile
4) Flashed CSC from U ATH3 (Once phone rebooted it took me to bootloader screen, I heartbeat increased but after restart everything was working :D :D )
5) I saw ATT logo and then I knew I have those WiFi calling etc. Once restarted it asked few popup for ATT. Once it flashed 5Ge logo and gone.

FYI - a while back I had a problem with a flash that didn't work and I got the error screen you mentioned. All I did was unplug and replug the phone in the USB/PC, close and then re-open odin and load the files I wanted to flash and then just click start.

I didn't know that would work but got some tips when I wrote about my flash problem here on XDA and was essentially told that your phone is still technically in download mode when you get that error screen - no need to turn off the phone or anything. Just close and then open/load odin with the file, unplug and then click start.

This was on the S20 Ultra so I can only assume that it will work as well on the new Note. YMMV -

Sorry all, was out of town last couple days. oh, and thanks to everyone for getting questions answered!
So a few answer to comments from the last couple pages.....
The Link to ATT UNLOCKED is working correctly. This will get you OTA for the Unlocked version
AT&T current stock is ATH3 (Non the unlocked version) if you flash any other firmware aside from it or the firmware that it launched with, you will NOT get OTA.

Correct on AT&T current stock is ATH3, Even thought i'm on ATH4 , which i don't care for live OTA lol , Since i do my own OTA before carriers drop them public :D

My Visual Voicemail is not working any pointers? WiFi calling working. Is it ROM releated or something with ATT?
How isn't it working more information needed, like first are you on AT&T Carrier or on unlocked and did it work before on the Note20 Ultra or the phone you had before the Note20 Ultra 5G.

No worries I think something wrong with my account. I never tried it before to activate. Will check the ATT customer rep.

If I flash full ATH3 / ATH4 for ATT will I have OTA updates? I have seen sometimes Samsung Member / some services don't connect. Not sure if it's because of U1 flash and CSC from U firmware.

If you Flash ATH3 you would officially get OTA, but not with ATH4 even thought there both August patch which they basically are the same but AT&T decided to go with ATH3, Anyway the reason i asked about Visual Voicemail is cause if you had your older phone and had Visual Voicemail on it and still hasn't been deactivated from your older phone then your Note20 Ultra will fail in activating the Visual Voicemail, i had to deactivated it from my Note10 Plus, then my Note20 Ultra decided to activate my Visual Voicemail. Which i found it odd.

I just flashed the latest U1 build to my ATT U, and it flashed correctly, I got the unlocked version features like the integrated spam call blocker. Now in settings it still shows ATT/ATT/ATT, did I make something wrong? I wanted to get the full unlocked experience and just use the att network. Also I'm seeing that my 5G icon is the ATT branded one.. So I'm kinda confused. Flashed the csc partition and not the home csc.
Not sure if someone already answered this and sorry to all my amazing friends here that i am not able to be online as often. Hope you all are doing well.

So your ATT/ATT/ATT lets represent it as 1/2/3 - Now /3 is something you can not change - so if you bought from ATT it will be 1/2/ATT if from T-mob it will be 1/2/TMB - So that always remains same.
for 1/2 it depends on the sim card you insert, it seems you are using ATT sim. I have unlocked version so my /3=/XAA , as stated above it remains same regardless of sim i insert, and i am using TMB so my 1/2 = TMB/TMB if i was using ATT it would look like ATT/ATT/XAA. Hope this answers your question.

Please take a look at the OP, it'll answer that for you :)
embarrassing! Not at the top easily available to everyone. Sorry for not reading. The best place to hide things from me is right in front of my face.

Ok, so I did get really bored and flashed U1. To be 100% honest if you put the device in front of me with Carrier/Unlocked firmware, I couldn't tell the difference. Aside from the bootscreen animations and actually looking in the actual firmware revision I genuinely can't tell ANY difference.
    2
DUBB, March Security patch 254mb. It's also bootloader 2, so if you update to it there is no going back to any of the previous firmware (Incl the U1 bl1 firmware)

See Post #2 and #3 for the Links to the Firmware
ALL of the firmware posted here can be flashed on any N986U/N986U1 Device. The firmware is NOT carrier dependent and is only listed next to some of them in order to have an idea if you might get OTA when you flash it

    Understanding Firmware naming:

    N986USQU1ATGM
    N=Note
986U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader revision (This is important! You cannot go to a previous revision)
    A,B,C,D = Android version
    T, U = Year (T=2020, U=2021 etc)
    A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L)
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z
    So N986USQU1ATGM would be
    N968-U-SQ-U-1-A-T-G-M
    N968U (Note 20 Ultra Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build 10), T (2020), G (July), M (22nd build)

    How to enter Download Mode:
    Turn off the device.
Connect USB cable to your PC (Leave it disconnected from the phone)
Press and hold down the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. While they are still pressed, plug in the USB cable into your phone.
The phone will go into download mode press volume up. In Odin you will see that phone is added.

    Dirty Flash:
I would only do this if you are having to manually update to the newer firmware and would not do it if you are coming/going to U/U1 or from beta firmware or if you are on an old firmware. I'd also highly recommend doing a back up prior to the doing this
    Load these into Odin
    BL
    AP
    CP
    HOME_CSC
Do NOT flash CSC or USERDATA, either of these WILL wipe your device
This is a "dirty flash" and these can sometimes cause issues. Keep in mind if things start going sideways and stuff starts not working right, your first step to a solution will be to wipe the device.

    Tips on flashing U1 Firmware:
Thanks to @mm60 for being the guinea pig and doing the base write up

Flash the U1 firmware, which you can get on Frija. Make sure you use the patched ODIN linked in post #2, Odin3_v3.13.3b.
Boot up the phone with an active US Carrier SIM installed.
Go through the initial setup and connect to Wi-Fi.
When the pop-up saying that the phone "needed to apply carrier settings and reboot", agreed and let it reboot.
Once the phone reboots, go through the setup and verify the Service Provider is your carrier (VZW/SPR/TMB/ATT, etc) is in the Settings.
Flashed the U firmware again with the USERDATA file and set it up again (The USERDATA file is Carrier agnostic. The carrier features/apps will be installed based on the active carrier SIM that's installed when it's flashed)

If you get your CSC Stuck on XAA/XAA/(Insert your carrier here), and can not get Carrier options back.
Go to the tutorial that @borijess put together HERE
