Ok, so I did get really bored and flashed U1. To be 100% honest if you put the device in front of me with Carrier/Unlocked firmware, I couldn't tell the difference. Aside from the bootscreen animations and actually looking in the actual firmware revision I genuinely can't tell ANY difference.

You can flash ANY of the firmware on this thread. The only exceptions you are going to run into are the ones that are around the Bootloader 1 vs Bootloader 2. If your device is on bootloader 1, you CAN go to a Bootloader 2 firmware, but you cannot go the other way. Once on 2 you stay on 2

I've gone back and forth between U and U1 on the S10+ I bought from AT&T many times. But it seems things are just a little more complicated so I'm a bit nervous about pulling the trigger.

Got my Note 20 Ultra from AT&T yesterday (poor S10+ went into the ocean while on vacation in Gulf Shores). Anyways, at the time I last had my S10+ it was running the U1 firmware.

When it got the Android 11 update it got support for Wi-Fi calling on AT&T! It just showed up in the connection settings and worked perfectly.

I'm wondering if that's the case with the Note 20 Ultra running U1 firmware since the Android 11 update. If it also got Wi-Fi calling support on AT&T. Also when my S10+ was running the U1 firmware it got firmware updates from Samsung, will that still be the case if I flash my Note 20 Ultra I bought from AT&T with the U1 firmware ?
Just wanted to say I flashed the U1 firmware on my AT&T Note 20 Ultra. Worked perfectly. I have Wi-Fi calling, HD voice, visual voice mail etc. Only thing I don't have is "AT&T Enhanced Messaging" but since they currently don't interconnect with any other carriers I couldn't care less about that.

Glad you called it out, I am sure others may have called out earlier I am not trying to take anything away from them. I did a mistake by oversight i didnt read the whole name of new firmware and now i am on bootloader 2.
Anyone else facing constant phone crashes/restarts when opening camera ?

Before I went to U1(OK, I was bored) 😊
I was seeing the camera lock up when I did the double power button press and an odd reboot too

I keep hearing that the U1 which has Samsung's spam call blocking feature is much better compared to the usual carrier's U devices. Have you noticed any difference? I have the t-mobile U version and I'm just getting inundated and this is after enabling their scam ID and Scam Block additional version on top of their built in feature.

So I cant really say one is better than the other or not. I seem to get a few calls that come through on the U1 version at maybe about the same rate as AT&T's.
I can say that Samsung's is "Powered by" Hiya, and there is a Call Blocker app on the Playstore if you want to give that one a shot. I suspect it would be pretty comparable to the one built into the U1 firmware

Try Hiya or Sync.me from the playstore. Sync.me has a lot more features and as long as you're using an ad blocker of some sort, I've never found the need to upgrade to the paid version.

AT&T Call Protect is "Powered by Hiya" as well. I found it pretty useless. You have to go with the Pro option for it to really work right.

See Post #2 and #3 for the Links to the Firmware
ALL of the firmware posted here can be flashed on any N986U/N986U1 Device. The firmware is NOT carrier dependent and is only listed next to some of them in order to have an idea if you might get OTA when you flash it

    Understanding Firmware naming:

    N986USQU1ATGM
    N=Note
986U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader revision (This is important! You cannot go to a previous revision)
    A,B,C,D = Android version
    T, U = Year (T=2020, U=2021 etc)
    A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L)
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z
    So N986USQU1ATGM would be
    N968-U-SQ-U-1-A-T-G-M
    N968U (Note 20 Ultra Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build 10), T (2020), G (July), M (22nd build)

    How to enter Download Mode:
    Turn off the device.
Connect USB cable to your PC (Leave it disconnected from the phone)
Press and hold down the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. While they are still pressed, plug in the USB cable into your phone.
The phone will go into download mode press volume up. In Odin you will see that phone is added.

    Dirty Flash:
I would only do this if you are having to manually update to the newer firmware and would not do it if you are coming/going to U/U1 or from beta firmware or if you are on an old firmware. I'd also highly recommend doing a back up prior to the doing this
    Load these into Odin
    BL
    AP
    CP
    HOME_CSC
Do NOT flash CSC or USERDATA, either of these WILL wipe your device
This is a "dirty flash" and these can sometimes cause issues. Keep in mind if things start going sideways and stuff starts not working right, your first step to a solution will be to wipe the device.

    Tips on flashing U1 Firmware:
You will have to wipe, can NOT dirty Flash going between U and U1 firmware
Use the patched ODIN linked in post #2 or #3, Odin3_v3.13.3b (They are exactly the same)
Have an active US Carrier SIM installed to get carrier features

If you get your CSC Stuck on XAA/XAA/(Insert your carrier here), and can not get Carrier options back.
Go to the tutorial that @borijess put together HERE
