Hopefully this post can breakup the silence. I currently have a Verizon Note 20 Ultra 5G.

  • SM-N986U
  • One UI 3.1
  • Android 11
  • N986USQS2DUE2
  • June 1, 2021 Android Security patch level
  • IMS Status = OFF (my main issue)

I recently ported from Verizon to AT&T and of course Wifi Calling and VoLTE/HD Voice do not work. When I make a call, data goes into 3G. I believe this is due to me using the Verizon firmware with the new ATT sim card. I believe I need to flash the ATT firmware but I do not know which one to flash.

My main goal is to get Wifi calling or at least HDvoice/VoLTE working.

I see the following firmwares:

N986USQS2DUE1 ATT/VZW/TMB/SPR. Thanks for the mirror @Venom0642 Mirror
N986USQU2DUDC ATT/USC/CCT
N986USQS2DUBB AT&T/USC MIRROR thanks @Venom0642

I downloaded the first one from that list but how do I know this is the one I need to flash in order to get ATT HD voice and Wifi Calling working?

Thanks in advance!

If you're sporting an active ATT SIM, you would want to back up your device, and flash the DUE1 firmware. Make sure you flash BL, AP, CP, CSC (NOT the home_csc). I might even do a factory reset before flashing

Why is there so much silence here?
Anyhow I can't wait t for Samsung to start Android 12 Beta program with one UI 4. Any thoughts or leaks or news anyone heard?
Haven't heard anything. We will most likely be waiting til November or December before we get a beta.

Samsung is supposedly unveiling the Z Flip 3 on the 28th. I am a little curious to see if it will have 'One UI 3.5'. If so we may see that in the next few months for our devices. Not expecting any major changes of course but maybe there will be a little something worth while.

I was able to successfully flash N986USQS2DUE1 onto my Verizon Note 20 Ultra. Initially ODIN failed the flash and I had a feeling it was due to me using the front USB port on my gaming desktop.

I then switched to the USB port directly connected to the motherboard and it worked. Once the phone restarted, I was greeted with a message that Android failed to load and my data could be corrupted. I restarted and the same message displayed.

i was giving an option to do a factory reset to resolve the issue. After performing the factory reset the Verizon logo appeared again and I thought the flash wasn't successful.

Thankfully I had my activated AT&T Sim card in the phone the entire time. During boot while displaying the Verizon logo I was greeted with a message that the sim card has changed and the phone needed to restart in order to load the correct carrier data.

The phone restarted and BOOM I was greeted with the ATT logo and processed the setup of my phone now using the ATT firmware.

Once completed, I can confirm the following now work on ATT, where as before with the Verizon firmware did not work:

  • Wifi Calling
  • HD Voice
  • Voice over LTE
  • 5G service
Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. I no longer need to purchase a ATT phone and can use all of ATT's features on my originally Verizon Note 20 Ultra.

Funny how all the leaks start coming out as soon as you mention it.

This article is saying beta could start next month for some devices with stable release in line with Google. I'm not really believing that but you never know. Google and Sammy have been getting close and working together a lot lately.

EDIT- Not really clear in the article if they mean internal testing next month or some sort of open beta program. If they just started working on 12 seems like it would be internal only but who knows it isn't very specific.

True that surprised me too.. That all the leaks started.. Well it gives us something to look fwd to. If they start early then better :)

Just switched from VZ to ATT and having the same issues as nuprotocol with limited functionality due to VZ firmware still being on phone. I've been researching for a couple of days what to do and it led me here.

Nuprotocol flashed the N986USQS2DUE1 firmware and ended up getting it working but said he had issues at first. In an effort to make sure I do everything right, does anyone know why the issues he stated happened? I did a hard reset 2 days ago. Do I just need to flash those files in Odin and that's it? At first I thought I had to flash from U to U1 and then back to U to get ATT firmware but I'm not sure I understood everything correctly. I have N986USQS2DUE2 just like nuprotocol. Can anyone please elaborate to ensure I don't make any mistakes? Also, when people say to backup first, what software is recommended? Do you just mean through Google or something like TWRP or Titanium. I used those years ago but not sure if they are still in use with the N20 Ultra.

Nuprotocol - any tips or suggestions since we are in the same boat in case maybe to realized later you did something wrong?

Thanks!

1st off, unfortunately TWRP and Titanium are available to use without root.
You can use SmartSwitch (Made by Samsung) to back up to extSD. Additionally I make sure that I manually have my device folders saved to my extSD too (I'm a bit paranoid it might miss something). But if you did a reset a few days ago there may not be anything on the device to save (Your choice if you need to or not)

You don't have to flash to U1 and back, that's not necessary. DUE1 is the current stock one for ATT, so to get OTA updates in the future that is the one you should flash.. When you're ready, make sure your ATT SIM is installed, do a factory reset then in the Odin posted in the OP, flash the BL, AP, CP, CSC (NOT the HOME_CSC). The device will go through the set up and during the set up will install the ATT bells and whistles

A thing to keep in mind is that all of the firmware posted here will work on any N986U/U1 devices regardless of the carrier. I only post the carrier name next to the firmware so we can ID which are the current stock so folks can get OTA.

Thanks for the quick responses, kangi26. The process seems simple enough. I think I last used Odin on a Galaxy S4 so it's been a while. I don't have anything to back up except photos and text messages so I should be okay. I wasn't sure if there was a system backup I should be doing to avoid bricking. So I should factory reset again and then when it's on the first screen after resetting, turn the phone off and begin the Odin process?

The way I do it is to go into Recovery mode, do the factory reset, then when it's complete, power off. Then Odin the new firmware.

Oh and getting into Download mode is WAY different than the older devices you're accustomed to.
Be sure to open Odin and load the files for flashing then

From the OP:

How to enter Download Mode:
Turn off the device.
Connect USB cable to your PC (Leave it disconnected from the phone)
Press and hold down the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. While they are still pressed, plug in the USB cable into your phone.
The phone will go into download mode press volume up. In Odin you will see that phone is added.

Thanks so much, kangi26. This is the most expensive phone I've ever had so it makes me a little more nervous that I missed something and might brick it. I'm going to try to get to this tonight. I will report my results in case it helps anyone else.

No problem at all! BTW it is REALLY hard to brick now-a-days (Ok, so if you unplug your USB when flashing you could brick). Things are a lot different than they were years back.

I think you'll be fine.

I flashed the phone last night and everything was successful. I had the exact same results as nuprotocol where there was first an error and required a factory reset, then it rebooted with VZ for a while before saying new SIM found, then rebooted with ATT software.

Everything works perfect but I did notice in software information, under service provider software version, it says ATT/ATT/VZW. Not sure what that means but something from Verizon is still on there.

See Post #2 and #3 for the Links to the Firmware
ALL of the firmware posted here can be flashed on any N986U/N986U1 Device. The firmware is NOT carrier dependent and is only listed next to some of them in order to have an idea if you might get OTA when you flash it

    Understanding Firmware naming:

    N986USQU1ATGM
    N=Note
986U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader revision (This is important! You cannot go to a previous revision)
    A,B,C,D = Android version
    T, U = Year (T=2020, U=2021 etc)
    A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L)
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z
    So N986USQU1ATGM would be
    N968-U-SQ-U-1-A-T-G-M
    N968U (Note 20 Ultra Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build 10), T (2020), G (July), M (22nd build)

    Dirty Flash:
I would only do this if you are having to manually update to the newer firmware and would not do it if you are coming/going to U/U1 or from beta firmware or if you are on an old firmware. I'd also highly recommend doing a back up prior to the doing this
    Load these into Odin
    BL
    AP
    CP
    HOME_CSC
Do NOT flash CSC or USERDATA, either of these WILL wipe your device
This is a "dirty flash" and these can sometimes cause issues. Keep in mind if things start going sideways and stuff starts not working right, your first step to a solution will be to wipe the device.

    Tips on flashing U1 Firmware:
You will have to wipe, can NOT dirty Flash going between U and U1 firmware
Use the patched ODIN linked in post #2 or #3, Odin3_v3.13.3b (They are exactly the same)
Have an active US Carrier SIM installed to get carrier features

If you get your CSC Stuck on XAA/XAA/(Insert your carrier here), and can not get Carrier options back.
Go to the tutorial that @borijess put together HERE
