Is it safe for what? It's coming from Sony don't worry.
Can you post some details about the update?? Is it system update or just some apps?

after 40 minutes updating it installed OK, I booted the phone and got "updating android: optimizing app 2 of 2" then "launching apps"
checked in settings "about phone", nothing changed in versions. I assume "update service" can't do partial updates as OTA do.

Yes! My phone is Poland Generic, after I flashed it by Flashtool, originally got that from TMobile PL.
I downloaded the 9,2MB file and than the update process which you start manually was like 2 minutes lol.
Just rebooted itself, optimized apps and voila.
Version now - .434.
THAN I got some Sony apps and widgets upgrades - weather, new app world clock, top contacts.
Is it not just a patch? I have not got any OTA but my version is already 434.

Well I didn't say it is. It's a FW upgrade from .350 to .434.
Never said you did. I just asked the question. As there is now talk of a patch for the current firmware. The link to the thread is further up this thread. And was hopeful that it was starting to roll out.
