I think that ROM did not changed since last build.
According to HTTP response headers:

So we should proceed update using latest update file available on Russian site ? That update would enable us to apply security patches ?

Yep, AT&T built this OTA update on the 30th of May, and since that time they have been testing it.
It is standard development lifecycle of any software product - QA before release.
This update is not "dead-end", so you can apply future OTA updates.

Hmm, I updated from BRD1 using the update.zip from SD card function but it looks like the update process is stuck on "patching system files" since about 20 minutes already :(

ANY IDEA what I could or should do now? :-/

UPDATE:
"patching system files" took about 30 minutes but then everything went well. Just had panic because nothing was happening for such a long time. The OS is really smooth now. Cannot say anything about the battery life etc. so far.

Should I flash this one?
SM-G891A_G891AUCS2BRA7_USA_ATT_v7.0.7z
editting ...

Well that is latest bootloader 2 full rom image .

You could use any older full rom, but then you'd have more incremental patches, from the "OTA" system (auto updates via settings, software updates .. or the OS saying "An update is available , install it ? " ), to install.

Its also a safe choice, because its using boot loader 2 as in 2BRA7.. 2 for boot loader 2. If you install boot loader 3, you can't revert to bootloader 2

You might avoid going to bootloader 3 if you are going to mess with the bootloader, as there will be far less chance of getting it fixed by USB or SDHC card.

From 2BRA7 you can install the zip to get to 2BRB5 . No choice there.

From 2BRB5, you have a few choices

1. <edit, delete this>

2. Install 2BRC1 , which is a beta version, and the next step from THERE is only some version with bootloader 3, whether you for 3BRD* or 3CRE* (the letter B for android 7, C for android 8)... * means there's some versions, but 3BRD1 and 3CRE7 are the official versions released to the public... See att's help on the S7 active

3.. Go to Oreo with bootloader 2, which is a dead end in terms up upgrade path, as bootloader 2 is NOT a feature of any official OREO release

4. Go to bootloader 3 ... either from 2BRC1 or from 3BRD1 ... which are the stepping stones of official releases to get to the latest, very recent, official release 3CRE7

Yes, that is the latest full rom image, to install with ODIN (the newest release works. the old modifying "prince comsey" one is for rooting.)

If you install boot loader 3, you can't revert to bootloader 2 and you have far less options for recovery if you have a problem .
There's no full rom for ODEN install of full rom... so if you are on an old version with no upgrade path, you can't get to anything newer... Or change to a custom firmware.

So you might avoid going to bootloader 3 when doing things the unconventional way. You can easily get an OS version that you cannot revert nor update. you get left out in the cold by samsung and ATT...
eg using a beta test version, which the the samsung/ATT guys can revert/update with a debugger ICE connection and blast a full ROM in ... their full ROM images hasn't got out to the public yet..

From 2BRA7 you can install the zip to get to 2BRB5 . No choice there.

From 2BRB5, you have a few choices
1. Stop because the next two choices have annoying drawbacks.

See att's help on the S7 active.

But this is actually the offical path - 2BRB5 to 2BRC1 ... that means they promise to update 3BRD1 to a version which will have an update to another version ... and keep you on the path.

3.. Go to Oreo with bootloader 2, which is a dead end in terms up upgrade path, as bootloader 2 is NOT a feature of any official OREO release, and there doesn't seem to be an upgrade file leaked from the beta testing program to get from oreo with bootloader 2 to any upgrade (whether to keep bootloader 2 or move up to 3 ) Maybe the files exist, but they weren't in the collection I looked at.
There is a full official bootloader 3 ROM available here (BRD1):
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/g..._QB17619845_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.7z

From there you can update to official Oreo with CRE7:

Thanks. Your observation was spot on. It was exactly the same built.
Update done in about 50 mins.
Battery timing seems to have improved a lot.

someone tell me how can i update my devices with cloud.mail.ru/public/BGy7/gKs4xzhRE/OTA/Oreo/
????

Carefully, as that collection has some beta versions, that dead end. You need to be sure there is a path to your end goal.
All I mean is that there are no updates there to get from a beta Oreo to AT&T released Oreo, and that fits with the FIRST official AT&T publishing of OREO being version 3CRE7.
Any lesser , therefore beta, Oreo version is presumably a dead end, right ?

So "ODIN" in the 3BRD1 rom, (unzip the rom file, point odin at the 4 files in the rom file, with the phone in bootloader download mode , option 2 on the recovery menu ) and then SD card or sideload the OTA zip to get to 3CRE7, with the phone waiting after having clicked the matching option in the recovery menu.

Unless bootloader 2 is important to you, and then the dead end betas are the only option

I have successfully updated to Oreo through manual recovery. However, performance and battery consumption is much better than nougat but what really annoys me contact name and phone number size is very big compared to nougat for incoming and outgoing calls regardless of font or screen zoom set in display options
