You're absolutely right, they must have forgotten about the action button on the camera app shutter function, what a bunch of idiots these programmers...I updated to Oreo with "G891AUCU3CRE7_CL13639069_QB18343712_REV02_user_low _ship_MULTI_CERT.7z" using Odin. Everything works fine and smooth. Nevertheless, the Active key is not taking photos and/or do anything in the stock Camera app. I've seen this issue reported by another user on a Reddit thread. Do any of you who updated to Oreo have this issue? Were you able to find some sort of workaround? Please share your thoughts, thank you.
Let's hope it gets fixed in a future update. I guess it's not easy to release a 100,00% functional software on a new version of an operating system, even if it gets tried and tested beforehand. You're absolutely right, they must have forgotten about the action button on the camera app shutter function, what a bunch of idiots these programmers...

Thank you, for information!SS-G891AUCU3CRE7-to-U3CRG1-UP and SS-G891AUCU3CRE7-to-U3CRG2-UP are up on ATT servers. Haven't installed either for fear of a beta trap, but they exist. @khaliullov will probably put them up on the mail.ru site soon. Read the forum to find that site or to check how to download these from ATT yourself.
EDIT: files come in at 233MB and are a U, so this might be a bugfix update on top of the security patch.
How will we know if they are Beta's? I see them on the Russian siteThank you, for information!
Just uploaded them to the cloud:
SS-G891AUCU3CRE7-to-U3CRG1-UP.zip
SS-G891AUCU3CRE7-to-U3CRG2-UP.zip
2all: please note that they may be beta versions and dead-end of update branch.
only after AT&T will publish update on their site or somebody informs us that he/she received new OTA update. How will we know if they are Beta's? I see them on the Russian site
The person just before your post is the one who uploaded it on the Russian site you are referring to.How will we know if they are Beta's? I see them on the Russian site
If it helps, I could post the hashes for the files I download directly from ATT and then a second user could post what they see from mail.ru and we can confirm that they agree so that at least the files are legit. @khaliullov is trustworthy AFAIAC.Just a heads up. Most Russian sites and links are banned on xda. Make sure the site follows all of our rules before posting links.
I have CRG2 running. Still April 1 security update. I don't see any changes so far... But, it also seems to run fine...?Has anyone tried out the new CRG1 and/or CRG2 firmwares yet?
Does the Active button work to take photos? and is the battery life or speed improved at all compared to CRE7 Oreo? That's very strange that It's CRGx and it's still running the April security patch. Hopefully Samsung/Att can update it to the June or July patch.I have CRG2 running. Still April 1 security update. I don't see any changes so far... But, it also seems to run fine...?
I don't think you could ever use the active key to take photos. You can launch apps with it, but a cursory google search doesn't reveal anything. Even the official Samsung page which seems to point at a Nougat OS doesn't indicate you can.Does the Active button work to take photos? and is the battery life or speed improved at all compared to CRE7 Oreo? I can confirm that in Nougat, you can use the Active button to take photos while Camera is open. Didn't know before, but I tried it myself and it works (in Nougat, that is).I don't think you could ever use the active key to take photos. Confirming the ActiveKey as a HW camera button option on Nougat as well. I use it almost all the time when taking photos.I can confirm that in Nougat, you can use the Active button to take photos while Camera is open. Didn't know before, but I tried it myself and it works (in Nougat, that is).
I tried to attach a screenshot of the button description from settings, but anyway it says "Use the Active key to take pictures while Camera is open".
