Bro I have applied this update. But erroneously in order to avoid reset, pressed the volume keys, power key and home button. Immediately after that my phone has been blocked. Refit says please update binary.
I'm unable to boot.
TRIED FOR ODIN BUT NO FIRMWARE ACCEPTED.

PLEASE ADVISE HOW TO REVERT THIS ERROR :(

[Q1UOTE=staffeyx;77336273]Yep looks like a security update,coming in at 41 mb on the russian site.

Note that bootloader seems to be updated to v4 with this patch, which would mean that you can't go back to any of the earlier versions.

I think it's interesting how the two prior betas G1 and G2 were at 232 mb. Maybe they had to put fixes on hold until the next update, because they needed more time or something?[/QUOTE]

trick to avoid factory wipe when sideloading updates

Oh my goodness I managed to avoid the factory wipe upon sideloading! I never believed this would actually work, but it did!! :D

The trick is dead simple: Right after all the system files and extra partitions (bootloader, modem, etc.) has been updated, during that tiny pause of 2 or 3 seconds between the message "script succeeded: result was [/system]"and the wiping process, I first pressed and held the "boot to recovery" combination (Power + Home + VolUp) and noticed that doing so had prevented anything from going beyond this point; I then added VolDown and held till the phone eventually rebooted and showed all green upon partition check shortly before booting the the lockscreen, just like after applying a normal OTA update. After the launcher had shown up, a message was shown in the notification center saying "Android is updating...". Just wait till that finishes and you're done! I'd almost burst into tears seeing my data being just fine. See the pics in the attachment (ignore the one hour between the two updates, I was trying to rewrite this post after I accidentally got logged out of the forum and losing everything I had written in Incognito Mode).

So again, these are the steps:
1. Boot to recovery apply OTA zip file via adb sideload;
2. Wait patiently through zip verification, patching system, updating other partitions (modem.img, boot.img, etc. It goes quite fast from this step onwards, stay awake!), removing unneeded files, copying new files until it shows: "script succeeded: result was [/system]";
3. Immediately press and hold Power + Home + VolUp + VolDown. Have your fingers already at the right places, since the pause before the actual wiping process begins is not more than 5 seconds;
4. You'd see a screen flashing through in the split of a second, showing all green for the partitions updated;
5. Wait till the phone boots up;
6. Unlock the SIM and pass the lockscreen. A message showing "Android is updating..." would show up in the notification center. Side note: if you go and check the "Status" screen in Settings - About phone during this process, the ROM status would show "Custom". Don't worry. You'd see it turns live back to "Official". :D

Hope this trick could help y'all!

As long as there is *no bootloader version change* between your current and the sideload OTA update version, it should work fine.

But if there is a botloader version change (either upgrade or downgrade) then by all means DO NOT do the skip-data-wipe-via-button-mash-trick. Else, you'll end up in an infinite boot loop where the only fix is to flash the full firmware completely and properly.

Cheers!

Seems that this trick doesn't work anymore on the last bootloader version, I tried and my phone stuck on security error message. So if you don’t want to brick your phone don’t do that trick if you updated the bootloader.
Now I don’t know how to solve this situation, someone knows how to solve the security error message? The message says this "Security error. This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support...."

I haven't used the no-data-wipe trick yet for a while. Last time i upgraded via sideload, i fell asleep waiting for the process log to scroll..when i woke up, i got a squeaky clean S7 Active. LOL

I have no plans yet to upgrade to latest OTA until sufficient feedback has been provided, or determined as official OTA.

Is the boot to Download Mode not working on your device? How about Boot to Recovery?

CRE7 ran bootloader 3. CRG3 and CRH1 run bootloader 4. Could that be the cause of your problem?

I think I was already updating the bootloader to version 4 when I updated to oreo CRE7, I update with odin with the firmware that I downloaded from the Russian server (G891AUCU3CRE7_CL13639069_QB18343712_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT). To solve the current issue I did the same but I could not flash because "Auth Fail" so I browse and I found other flashable firmware in the Russian server (G891AUCS4CRG3_CL13639069_QB19079719_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT), I tried flash with this firmware and voila! My phone get alive.
Thanks for the support

Does anybody noticed fixed bugs or noticable changes in perfomance or battery saving regarding new H1 update?
I'm keen to hear results on this too. I'm still on RC8 which is not the most fantastic for battery life, but as far as speed goes this build has been astounding: no slowdown after all this time!

In other news, it appears we will not be receiving Galaxy S9 active at all which absolutely sucks. Now my upgrade pathway is in question and I don't know which way to go. I'd go for blackview BV9500pro but I don't know that I could go back to generic camera quality.

EDIT: On second thoughts, I'm not going down that road. 10,000mah battery looks amazing but my S7 Active already doubles or triples all of these performance scores...not interested in a downgrade.

Any other manufacturers talking about a proper rugged device? Not just waterproof, I mean proper ruggedized like the Active series.

Did you consider the S8 Active? It's not a big upgrade from the S7 variant, but still worth a look I think.
