Samsung SM-G891A, from G891AUCU1APE7 to Oreo.

I'm new, I would like to update to Oreo my S7 Active, I'm in europe.
Should I install every firmware versions, one by one ? Or there is a way to install directly Oreo?

Remember that you need to use Odin version 3.13.1 or higher to flash Oreo Roms with the latest bootloader.

Pretty sure my S7A is on it's last legs, kept giving me charge port water ingress error message every time I'd plug it in. In the long battle to try and fix this issue (there's no water in there) I factory reset the device and flashed the latest available full Odin rom from Cloud RU site (CRJ1).

I had been deliberating for a long time because of the finality of upgrading the bootloader, I was still on one of the early Oreo betas on the old bootloader.

Well, it's done now. Nothing to loose if the phone is dying I thought. My water ingress message has disappeared for the moment and I am seriously impressed. I haven't seen standby power usage this low since the early days. Losing max of 3% overnight.

Strangely, after reflashing - phoneinfo now rates my battery health at 93.5% where before it was at about 86%. Not sure how that works, but I'll take it.

As long as that pesky error stays away I think I might squeeze another few months out of this device yet. I still haven't figured out what to replace it with; I don't really like the look of the S8 Active at current prices, doesn't feel like much of an upgrade and I'd lose the physical buttons + there are issues with the video recording if you go over 1080p and it simply doesn't look as rugged as all the previous Active devices.

The only other candidate that looks half interesting to me at present is the AGM X3 but that is a massive roll of the dice and zero image stabilisation would be a major adjustment. If they came to the party with Lineage OS support or 3rd party development takes off, I'd probably take the chance once prices drop a little bit. GCAM on SD845 would probably do the job for me.

Doesn't really seem to be anything else decent on the horizon, especially not from the major manufacturers. They've given up on rugged handsets it seems. Perhaps not enough money in it as they are generally able to last slightly longer than a standard 2 year contract.

Sort of annoying knowing what can be done, then seeing what is actually done. Is it really that hard for someone to manufacture a device with a snapdragon 845, 5500mah battery, OIS enabled camera that takes decent pics that's ruggedized in the same fashion as the original active line? Come on, I'm not asking for much :p

Absolutely blown away! I know this is very light usage but this is pretty much my normal pattern due to my work phone.

Not sure which CSC came with the latest full Oreo ROM on the Russian site but it is amazing for me. It actually transitions to 3G 850mhz where appropriate and maintains amazing signal.

Not once have I put this thing on airplane mode and it has been with me in my car whilst I drive through the bush every day in some really low signal areas- and I still got more battery life than I've ever had from any phone, and that's with a two year old device that I thought was about to go in the bin!

God I hope Samsung resurrect this line!

turn off the wifi when it is suspended, even if you have the option to keep it on

As usual OTA updates should be applied via stock recovery (through adb sideload best)

UPDATE: Full Nougat update via ODIN
After waiting for a root, I have finally given up and updated my S7 Active to Nougat via ODIN. I have a network unlocked S7 active, the update when smoothly and fixed the lags and didn't change network status. The internal storage was fully wiped.

Here is the thread for the ODIN package:

Hello since I updated the system a few weeks ago, I notice that the wifi is disabled even if you have the advanced option: Keep Wi-Fi activated during suspension: always, it only stays active when it is charging, someone who can help me, thanks .
