Unfortunately, it does not work from stock recovery. It shows update option, the update.zip. it starts flashing and says Update Failed... :-(

I would try to update ot with TWRP. The latest version is
twrp-3.6.2_11-0-denniz.img
I still have a couple of questions.
1. For installing TWRP you need root or unlocked bootloader?
2. After installing from TWRP, the boot recovery goes back to the original one?

1. Yes, for TWRP the bootloader needs to be unlocked, root access is not necessary.
2. After flashing the zip you should have stock recovery, in worst case you can still flash the recovery.img imo

Unlocking bootloader in indeed a problem, because of warranty. I thought I would find a way to push update.zip to /data/ota_update/ by adb but I get only errors.

Because /data folder is not accesible normally ar by adb. You need special privileges to copy a file there, as the inbuilt update system can do. That's why our colleague with twrp can acces it, because twrp has special privileges.

Correct, and as I know, at OnePlus the warranty won't be lost if you unlock the bootloader and root your phone. Only if something goes wrong with your phone after unlocking the bootloader, and it needs to be repaired by OnePlus, then you will be charged.

Is it Oxygen 12? I have currenty the latest EU A21 (I think so) installed, how can it be upgraded?

Right now, Oxygen Updater has the C.01 version for A12, Dn2103 EU. But in recovery it gives an error, saying "Can not install because there is a lower version OTA". Maybe because Android 11 v21 has june patch and A12 C.01 has may patch? Strange...

Can someone tell me where the update package gets saved in OOS 12?
I'm currently on DN2101_11_C.05 and got an update to C.08. But when I hit reboot it goes to download the file again.
Been happening twice now. Can someone help.?
