I managed to install the update on my VF branded legend. I replaced the VF rom with the stock HTC one. Keep in mind that the creation and use of a goldcard is mandatory

yeah no VF software

not much else really. Except that the wordpress app now is working although that could be related to the hard reset.

and yes it now runs at 1.31

Improvements are mainly about the camera and relation to the missing Market apps.

No luck for me trying to update a Spanish Vodafone branded Legend using a goldcard... maybe the SD card is not compatible with the process and I need a 2GB Kingston one... crap

I tried to make a goldcard using a Sandisk MicroSD. It seemed to work, but I couldn't flash an official HTC rom (invalid customer ID). When I tried it again with a Kingston MicroSD it worked like a charm!

U mean u can update the OTA update without RUU? How?

Well maybe there is something else wrong in my method, as all I get when going into recovery mode is a big red warning icon. Could be related that I didn't find anywhere someone saying what exactly did they do to flash the new ROM.

I tried putting the ROM in the goldcard I created, naming it "update.zip", and then booting into "Recovery" mode. Didn't work, it displayed the red warning icon. Tried again but renaming the rom "legeimg.zip", same results.

Use a Kingston MicroSD if you get the 'Wrong customer ID' when flashing.

I used a rom from this location:

You can keep the microsd card in your phone for this to work, you don't need a sd adapter..

Just follow all the steps carefully, then you can boot your phone like you always do, but with the goldcard. After that you can flash from windows.

Excuse my über n00b self, but I understand all the step by step guides except for the one without steps, which is "after that you can flash from windows". I just don't know how to do that. Again, I'm totally new to Android.

I was totally dumb, I got the .exe file for the Europe untainted ROM and was able to flash it succesfully! I created a GoldCard in the first place heh, updating now to latest OTA, yeepee!

the file attached here seems to be a patch not the full firmware

shipped-roms is pretty hopeless

When I last went in this morning, only 1.23 generic WWE is available. This is also available in another post in this forum.

However, 1.31 is not. IMHO 1.23 is not worth it as the vodafone ROM is ok except for 2 apps and the boot logo. I only want 1.31 as I think they have fixed some things.

Anyone spots the full 1.31 (as .exe or .img) in the wild please say!!!!

You can Flash the 1.23 firmware, and use your phone to update to the 1.31 update (with the system software updates in de settings panel). Use wifi when searching for the update, because it may not find the update on 3g..

ok great, so are we saying that once you have the generic ROM, HTC gives you the generic OTA updates ? (just checking)

Yes, exactly.
I have installed this rom on my Vodafone Legend and after installing I was able to download the OTA update from HTC.
