It's been a pretty long ass time since I've posted here! April '10 it appears with the Nexus One. I just could NOT get the feel for it... it was laggy, crashy and overall didn't "feel" as good as the iPhone of that time. I've been a pretty loyal iPhone user all the way from 3G!

On release, I've purchased the iPhone 5S 32gb and have been using it without problem. But I've come to a realization... how fricken boring iOS is. Seriously, it hasn't changed much at all since the original iPhone's release! I've been able to withstand the previous generation iPhones due to their available jailbreaks... but more and more time goes by and I realize that I NEED that customization back.

The jailbreak provided me with just enough ability to change some things about the iPhone that I wasn't too happy about and gave me some power. Now that it's not here, I can't stand it. Stock iOS with no way to change it... very saddening indeed. After coming to this conclusion, I started looking into what Android has to offer (after almost 4 years). All I have to say is WOW Android has come a long way!

I've researched the top competitors currently and have come to the conclusion that GN3 is my best selection as of yet. Beefier specs coupled with what looks to be an amazing camera has really won me over! I have not purchased the Note 3 yet as I am still making iPhone payments... Also, T-Mobile has my phone locked to the carrier . My next step will be to pay the phone off and unlock it OR attempt to sell it as is locked to T-Mobile.

Depending on the way things go, I may keep the iPhone for a little bit longer and hold out for the next release of the Note (or whatever other Android tops out the GN3).

This will be officially my 4th jump to Android! Hopefully there will be no turning back!

TLDR; Due to boredom, I am leaving Apple behind (despite my recent purchase of the 5S) and jumping to the GN3 or better!

Why would you want any other phone? Is the best hottest phone there is at the moment. It's got a beautiful screen, best cpu, 3 GB of ram, SD card, removable / great battery, sexy stile, s pen (very useful once you learn to use it, the ability to put it on the best networks and choose whoever has the best deal at the time, great long list of accessories, watch 1080p movies on TV or phone, usb 3 port, fast charge, great quality phone, great apps and if you like to flash rooms there are plenty to choose from, many themes, android 4.4.2 if you like and the list goes on and on.....

Hey guys, just wondering how many tmobile Note 3 owners are tempted to get the Sony Xperia Z1s? Even before picking up my Note 3, I was contemplating whether to dish out $600 on an international Z1...but decided to go the Note 3 route with tmobile with $0 down to save some $$$ for the holdays. But now that the Z1s is available, I'm even more tempted to trade up.

Pros of the Z1s:

Too many to list lol

Cons

most likely weak speaker
More?

With t-mobile new uncarrier plan I'm thinking of switching from Sprint. But I have Google Voice integration and I have no idea what happens when I switch. Right now my Google Voice number and cell number are the same. When I switch do I lose my Google Voice number and I have to get a new number. Anyone know the answer. Thanks.

You can port the number over. If you are ordering a phone online it is a lot easier to just get the phone, make sure it works ok, and then call T-Mobile to have the original number ported over to the new phone.

However, if you still owe money to Sprint they may prevent you from porting until they are paid.

If you ported your number to Google and paid the $20, then Google owns the right to your number. So if you switch to Tmobile...you don't have to port your nunber. Just download Google Voice and select use Google Voice nunber for calls and texts.

Actually, it doesn't matter if you owe them money or not...I was able to port our family plan to Tmobile with a balance on our account.

I like the phone as well but, no flash, rumors that it cracks in half when is in your front pocket, appatently a bit too big and looks just weird when talking on the phone, easy fix with a blutooth device. Screen is a dimmer and the angle views are bad. It just bothers me when they use a screen like that. The vessel or sides what ever is called are what too big. A litle more ram would be nice , Camera is not the best, Xperia software it's not so appealing to me. Although the play store version looks awesome with kit kat. The screen has some type of film that after a while gets worn and looks bad (not sure if this is the case with every z1)
Honestly, I do like the phone nothing major but I like the note 3 better and the size is more manageable for every day use. Wow and the note3 screen is mind blowing.. Also a lot more developer's support and....

^^^ No flash? The Z1s is going to have the aluminum body, which is not that easy to bend. So I doubt it'll crack itself in half. Honestly, I love my Note 3...but the sexy body of the Z1s is quite appealing.

Yeah, Z1 has less RAM and I have TFT screen on my laptop, I hate it with passion, 20 deg off center and screen changes colors or becomes impossible to see, don't know if phone screen is as bad, but I'm not buying another TFT sh***t. Maybe people like to look and admire nice metal casing, I don't care about casing which will be covered with case anyway, screen is what I'll be looking at and that's smaller and TFT, doesnt even compare to Note3. And I think it's criminal for Sony, the video camera champion, for consumers and pros alike not to have 4K , high speed and slow speed video, like Samsung, on pretty much the same hardware. And enough with this "4K video is a gimmick " talk. Vizio showed 4k, 50inch TV in Vegas for $1k, I will have it before summer. The only thing Z1 has over Note3 is waterproofing, so where is Note3 active we heard rumors about back in September? The rest is at most similar, the screen sucks in comparison and how come Sony is almost as big as Note with so much smaller screen and did I see it right, quarter of it is used for soft keys? I wish Samsung had some real competition, but Z1 isn't it.

Z1 doesn't have KNOX.

Honestly, KNOX is the only thing that is keeping me from getting the Note 3 with my JUMP. Thanks to KNOX, I'll likely never have a Samsung device again, at least not as long as I'm on JUMP so I can upgrade every 6 months.

Now I'm looking at every other company's products and its looking like a G2 or a Nexus 5 are in my future for now. Its a shame. I can't have Android and not have root (I have too many apps that have to be restored for that) and custom ROMs.

I don't think Knox is as big deal as you make it:
1. you can root without tripping it already.
2. flag really matters only with hardware failure, I could bet case of bear, there is bigger chance you brick it when modding or break when dropping on ground, than having warranty covered hardware failure.
3. you can get the extra insurance, actually I think it comes with jump? My understanding is the insurance co. doesn't care about Knox and if they do you can "loose it".
4. I think some ROMS can already be flashed without tripping Knox and it will get better.
5. the more I use it the more I like the s-pen and I like Amoled screen better than all others, so it seems like Note is the only option at the moment, having both. And I like Samsung filling the phone to the brim with all the sensors, removable battery, sd card, hardware buttons, without cluttering the screen, 4k, high/slow speed video. What I don't like is other companies not putting at least IPS LCD, or cutting costs with non removable batt. or trying to sell me on cloud storage, instead of SD card.

Hello everyone, just picked up this phone Friday. Already rooted running wicked v5. Just curious if there is any news on a possible Ubuntu touch rom for us, or is the phone to new or is the Ubuntu code not fully setup yet? I don't know the full details of Ubuntu touch, just the idea of it.

In order to get your ETF paid, you have to buy a phone from them when you set up the new line. Unfortunately that means that you aren't eligible because you already purchased your phone. You might be able to get an override if its possible but the fine print says that you have to trade in your device from the other carrier and buy a new T-Mobile phone.

This is correct. You just go month to month post paid after your contract expires as long as you don't do something to get into another contract. at&t is known for doing **** that gets you in a new contract (like if you call to change your plan) so just be vigilant of that.

yeah i dont want to be in a contract anymore.. i been with them from iphone 3G.. same plan...80$ 200 text/450 mins/5000 weekend. nights/ unlimited lying data cap at 5GB... with t-mo 70$ nothing to worry about.. i use 95% of data and starting to go over 4gb+ data a month easy specially on a note..

looks like this will give me time to save up for note 4 on t-mobile...

what about bring your own device ? i saw a video of the CEO talking about it.. not sure if i can just do that when my contract ends with att..

Yes, you can do that, but you're paying contract price which includes cost of the phone, which is already paid for. What I would do is have ATT unlock the phone, once it is paid for and try to use it on T-mo or even ATT prepaid.

So can I get 70$ unlimited plan if I bring my own device on tmo or I have to buy a phone from tmo to get 70$ unlimited plan?
