I would really like to test this but my back up phone would be a really old Motorola droid if I make a mistake ( which I generally do do the first flash of a new flash method). Some people said this would happen when h - e double hockey sticks froze over and I started to lose hope but I would check back every month or so. A little while back I checked in and found a proof of concept video which I am not even a little ashamed to say it was "the Holy Grail of Grey Hat work," if indeed he's not a white hat by now, selling his work or is a White Hat trying to give future White Hats some hope. I'm super excited to see where this thread goes. I would be soft bricking my phone all day long if I didn't have my child to support. I am so glad I follow this community, all of you developers are such an inspiration. I feel like I would be like one of the first few hundred to have a locked down OG5 S5 capable of root after the 900v got hit so hard by the patching of "security concerns," back in June. Dude, I am so proud of you OP and peace be with you, and may you and your family be blessed. I would love to see more tests and the growth of this thread.

I'm having the same issue as Aireos. Did you get it working yet? I'm either at "ROOT INSTALLING NOW.." or it makes it a little further to "KRSLOG: [+] This device: Verizon samsung SM-G900V Linux version 3.4.0-252...." and it hangs there.. I'm not sure how long I should wait. When you say few minutes, do you mean 10+ minutes? Maybe it's because I am using Windows 10 64 bit? I guess I will try another computer.

Same question as above. Do you have the latest Samsung drivers installed

Hey, I actually came on here to edit my post, but I see you already responded. I was able to get root. Just attempted to run "ROOT_G900V_5.0.bat" a few more times on my windows 10 computer..it eventually worked. I have version OK3 by the way.

I'm not sure which samsung drivers I have...Whichever ones windows 10 installed when I first plugged my phone in..if it even installed samsung drivers lol...

Thank's a lot. I almost thought there was no hope for the s5 since I accidentally accepted the OTA update.

Edit: for anyone wondering..when the ROOT_G900V_5.0.bat finally worked, it didn't take more then a minute or two before "done rooted" message appears.

Thank you for this. I'm having an issue with a step.
I flashed phone with the OK3 .tar provided. USB debugging is on. Have drivers set up.

I run the .bat, it sees the phone and attempts to install root.
It prompts the phone to reboot but gives an error device not found

People if your getting this screen you have the wrong kernel installed. To root your phone you must flash the 01_G900V_NI2_Kernel.tar. After this is flashed the phone will goto the samsung screen and stay no you are ready to root!

Here is the latest samsung drivers
Install these before trying root. If during root process the device is not found. Close the ROOT_G900V_5.0.bat window and reopen it. If this doesnt work unplug and replug the phone, if still doesnt work unplug and restart phone replug in the phone. When the root process starts if it hangs up or gets stuck close the ROOT_G900V_5.0.bat unplug phone and restart phone, open ROOT_G900V_5.0.bat and plug in phone and try again!

I updated the Op with new instructions and a new root zip. The Root bat file will now what for you to select to root. I think this will help I think the program was starting to fast in some cases. Please make sure to Update samsung drivers before trying thr root process. I also included a flashable BOK3 firmware zip that can be flashed in safestrap if your coming from BOG5 or BOE1 rom and want to upgrade to my BOK3 Rom

I was stuck on the same screen..sometimes it wouldn't even make it that far and it would just get stuck at "ROOT INSTALLING NOW..".
but after restarting the phone and running the ROOT_G900V_5.0.bat again, it eventually worked...I think i attempted it maybe 6-7 times total? ..so keep trying

I actually took that screenshot because I was getting ready to post that I couldn't get it to work...but then I tried one more time and it worked.

Ok now I have to be honest. After having my phone for a year and a half and never expecting to root it, I have fallen behind. My Galaxy S (S1) thanks to you guy lasted me 4 years and flashed it about every 3 days and had it all the way through JB. . Loved that phone. Anyway, I have tried to crash course since testing and succeeding with the root last night. I was going to flash the suggested VZW_BOK3_STOCK_ROM_DEODEXED.zip over my BOG5, which you said was ok, great. Before doing so I read up on SS: run program, reboot, pick rom, then make sure I flash matching safestrap flashable kernel to rom (ie: og5=og5) then reboot. Now I see the firmware addon as well and a little lost. When I got this phone there was concern about killing knox too. I see nothing about that or do we not care anymore? I didn't find the option in SU and that's all I found about it.
Any help would be great. Just didn't want to start throwing randoms at the phone.
Thanks for the great job. Even if I didn't change roms, root has given me more options alone that I have missed.
