Tfw have no issues and love this phone so far(have ghad it around 2weeks now, H850 eu variant, so no carrier bloat). My only gripe was that there was no 60fps video, but I found out about lg v10 camera port and that issue for me has been resolved now. Build seems sturdy, I came from Xperia Z Ultra(glass and metal build), but don't really feel the inferiority or whatever that most complain(plastic coating over metal on this phone) since I only use my phones with proper flip covers. Camera is really good and I love the wide angle camera. Loudspeaker is damn good over muffled, waterproofed one on my old Z Ultra. Performance is what Im most surprised about, snapdragon 820 is a beast, Ive had no slowdowns or lag between switching and GTA SA ran on MAXED with no issues and havent really had heating issues I've read about. Expendable storage is nice, rockin 100gb total atm for anime, psp games etc. Best phone I've had and I love it. I wouldnt also sweetcoat stuff, this is how my experience has been so far and I'm a power user.

So far after only owning it for a few days I have to say it is one heck of a nice phone! The camera is amazing, the screen is stunning, 131694 score on AnTuTu Benchmark... perfect size.. I would have to say almost perfect!

I do see where LG made two mistakes... a single release button on one side of the phone to release the chin... they should have did a button on both sides as that would have eliminated the slight gap (which I think has been blown way out of proportion online).. and yes the battery...

I also own the Ulefone Power which of course has one large battery in it but it is not removable and in a year (maybe less with fast charge) it may just start to die with no way of changing the battery out.

It would great if LG would come out with a bigger battery for the phone (same size just more mAh) or if not that then how about a friends module that is a battery case with wireless charging???!!!???!!! That should be easy enough to create???

Anyway, I will report back after using the phone more and unlocking the boot loader but so far I am really impressed with the G5!

Also looking forward to a speedy update to Android 7.0! Let it roll you Life is Good powers to be!

For 524$ (in Sweden) its a really nice device. Some things thats annoying tho but, its the same with every phone. 2-3 negative things about every single one. For me, its throttling too early and could use a higher level of brightness. Other than that, I love it. You often compare LG G5 to phones like S7 Edge (that cost 762$) etc.

OP3 could be the perfect phone for me, except one thing that I cant be without, a SD-card slot...

Overall im happy about it.

Absolutely fantastic. Had to return my first for another one because it had blacklight bleed and a dead pixel. But after i had no issue's at all. Screen, battery, camera, software all great! Best phone i've ever used. Everything feels amazing, quality and blazing fast. Luckily i don't have the problems other users in this thread has with this phone. great robust phone to last. I've no trouble waiting for safe root. 5/5. :)

I recently purchased the H850 on Amazon for use on AT&T in the US. Short answer: it's a terrific phone! :) :cowboy:

Background: my last phone was the LG G4, because I insisted on a phone with a removable battery and expandable memory (jumped ship from Samsung after the Galaxy S6 dropped them). I was very pleased with it, until it bootlooped into oblivion 1 month after the warranty expired  I swore off ever going with LG again, but I was resistant to going to a non-removable battery, which most flagship phones have now. So I labored on with my 5 year old HTC Vivid (lol) and Android 4.0.3 (lol), until I couldn't stand it anymore. Tempted by the V20, but very expensive. I was looking for a top-of-the-line phone with a removable battery, memory card, fingerprint reader and FM radio (very handy when riding on the train to work). Putting the parameters into Phonescoop, and the LG G5 was the only current phone on the list. Because only the international version has FM radio and is unlocked, I bought the H850. Was very pleased how easy it was to set up on AT&T's network.

Performance wide it's very speedy, the LG G4 is a step behind in comparison. The screen is slightly smaller, but it's very bright and sharp - my only complaint is that white is slightly bluish, as some reviews have noted. The metal construction is nice and solid, and it's lighter and easier to hold. Battery life so far is acceptable, getting up to 4 hours SOT with above-average use. But that's what a removable battery is for! :D The wealth of hardware connectivity options is very reassuring - can't compensate for them with software. FM radio is great, as is having an IR blaster. Fingerprint scanner is very fast. They say the USB-C is only USB 2.0, but transfer times feel faster (~50MB/s vs <20MB for past phones). Compass, barometer, WiDi, it has it all.

Most importantly, the initial kinks seem to have been worked out - there is very little/no gap with the bottom module, and GPS is very reliable. Since this is an international phone there is no manufacturer's warranty, so I'm using this phone without a net. I'm just hoping there won't be a bootloop issue on this one! :(

This is my first non-carrier phone in a long time, and the lack of bloatware is so refreshing! And knowing the bootloader can be unlocked and the phone rooted is important future-proofing insurance. I was tempted originally to get the H860 ($50 cheaper), but thanks to XDA I realized that no boot unlock solution has yet been found, and I've learned that unless it's expressly said a feature is supported, assume it won't be. I'll keep hoping that all other LG G5 owners will be freed eventually! :good: Once Nougat comes out I plan to unlock and root, and hopefully the developer community will port Android O in the future if LG no longer supports it.

It's amazing how far phones have come in just the last 5-6 years, but I am starting to get the sense that the pace of innovation may be slowing. Coupled with the end to carrier subsidies, and value is increasingly important. I have to admit, if I had to pay its original list price of ~$700, I probably wouldn't have. But LG's misfortune is my gain - at ~$450 it's comparable to the OnePlus 3 but with many superior features. In conclusion, I'm very satisfied - my only concern is reliability. But as long as it continues to work, I think this phone will last for a long time.

Liking it more and more

I've had mine for about a month now. At first I was looking to trade it for an s7 or even a Note 5, but as I keep using it, I keep liking it more and more. Cameras are great and so far, I compared a night shot with my buddys Note 5 and I was blown away by how much more nice it was.

Get yourself a G5 and you'll never regret it.

I really really love my G5!!!. Great standy time. I have a nexus 6 running android 7.0 with optimizations to save battery but G5 flawlessly beat it. 820 really is a very battery efficient processor. I just wish that root will come soon for the H860N model. When it comes to camera, HANDS DOWN!! G5 is the best. I love how you have complete controls over the photo you're taking using manual mode. For me, the manual controls in LG phones are still the best. I've attached some of the photos I took with my G5. ^_^

I absolutely love this phone. Sure the build quality isn't up there with the s7. But its absolutely great still. The battery life is very good, much better than other batteries I've seen at 2800mah.

The camera, at least in my eyes, using manual especially, is the best currently out there.

Love my G5. Always beside me during at sleep because it's my alarm. Haha. Overall phone is fine and feels premium. Battery problem? I have an extra battery with a battery kit so no no problem. I will buy a third battery for sure. Root? I can live without root. Phone is usable even without root. Only some are choosy and feeling techie because they can't live without root. LoL. Personal preference for root? Nah, point is any phone is "usable" without root. Love love my G5 rose gold :D

Giving up on this phone, constant GPS issues kill it for me as I use Maps every day.

Nougat update was timely, cameras were mostly excellent and everything else worked fine - but I can't keep it

after 7 months, I'm kinda disappointed. The image retention and the GPS issues are annoying. I paid 650 Euro back in May. This is not a 650 Euro device.
Maybe now when the price dropped it is worth it.
Positive:
Fast, reliable, camera is top notch, speaker is one of the best, software is just great, removable battery is amazing, IR blaster, wide angle lens is a treat!
Negative:
Screen not bright enough, super bright mode in sun is FAR from a working feature, camera lens cover (glass on the back of phone) is not scratch resistant, GPS is awful (need a fix once in a while), image retention in screen is a big issue (yes , you can use blue light filter or CF.Lumen but you shouldn't really).

So... love & hate. Great phone with 2 major issues which prevents me from recommending it.

I gotta say I never had a unique phone such as this one that has a lot of flagship components going for it.
Great (duo) Camera, 2k display, SD820, 4GB RAM, removable battery,SD card slot, IR blaster (a dying breed). Reminds me of an Galaxy S4 in functionality.

Its just these durability issues like the screen, the chipping and scratching of exterior of the phone, a non scratch-proof rear camera lens, and surprisingly GPS issues.
Really GPS issues the least likely issue I would even think of with running stock firmware. (yes its a hardware issue for sure)
To even get a GPS signal I find it more effective squeezing the top end of the edges of the phone and it works just normal.
Just get a case that is very tight for the phone, then I think it should be fine in the long run. The GPS signal should be better and a chance of damaging a phone with a history of durability issues should be greatly reduced.

For a normal consumer who is highly unaware how everything works in general, I cannot recommend such a phone that just invites more trouble as it gets handled by human beings.
For a consumer who has been on XDA, it doesn't kill the love for the device.
Theres almost always a solution to these problems as shown through many threads with this device.

Personally I like it, the issues are just annoying, but will not overtake the love I have for it.
