The Note 8 is..... def a good phone but no where near the worth. $1000 should make the perfect smartphone. The camera is my opinion is meh. Not great not bad but will get the job done. The S- pen functions seem like a gimmick than anything. Only if you have usage when it comes to excel/word/pdfs would it come in handy.

The biggest complaint from me is the battery size. Yes Oreo is optimized fairly well but it doesn't make sense to put a small battery in such a beautiful glass tall device.

I've liked the note series from the start since having a note 1. I only went with the 8 because I didn't have a choice. I'll be going to Verizon and this is the only phone on amazon that could assure that I'd be able to switch. I however feel this phone (or any other non-LG) makes me miss my V10 THAT much more... The DAC, Manual Camera menu, tap to turn off/on, and MOST F$%&ING IMPORTANTLY removable battery/external battery charger features were more paramount than I first thought and dearly miss. I didn't go with the V30 because I don't want to risk bootloop again even though they say it's been fixed...
It's been a year since I got this Note 8 and I have to say it's been sufficient. I took precautions to preserve the battery by getting a smart plug and every time to go to charge it wait til it gets to 35% and no lower, when I do throw it on a charger I look at the phone's estimated time to charge to 100% and set the smart plug's timer feature to turn off around 95%. I don't know if this was THAT big of a difference to making the battery last longer (life of the battery), but we'll see in another year.

I have the phone over a year now.

I really don't like this phone. The screen is really bad in my opinion. Curve screen makes it really fragile. The 3 of 6 People i have known has shattered screens. The colors have gone really bad with time i have a bad screen burning from notification bar and browser. They always on screen like shadow now.

Phone has a really bad battery life. But charging time is good though.

It has really bad software too. Lots of apps glitches or can't open with official firmware. Lots of bloatware too.

Camera is meh. Main cam is not so bad but not good either. The second cam is really garbage. It's so bad even the phone take telephoto photographs with main cam on low Light. The portrait Mode is really bad too.

Speaker quality is also bad.

It's more useable with root and custom roms. More speed and more battery life. I recommend anyone who has this phone to root and find a good custom rom. My biggest mistake was not using one over a year be use of warranty.

This is not a good phone, and it was not worth the price. I really miss my Note 4.

What is the expected life of the Note 8 battery?

Stargeus, I honestly dont know what phone you are talking about, the note 8 IS an excellent device, the best one available when it came out, I have mine since Nov 22 2017, and it performs and looks exactly as day one

Lol there's no way in hell you're talking about the Galaxy Note 8 because I've had mine since the day it came out and the screen colors are beautiful and perfect and my battery lasts all day still! I'm willing to bet you dropped your phone and didn't do the right thing and buy a case which messed the screen up and I'm also willing to bet that because you apparently don't understand how to get rid of the bloatware and other unnecessary apps that you don't use that, that's why your battery became crappy! It's easy to remove the bloatware using adb and you don't even need root to do it.. Maybe if you took the time to learn about your phone and take care of it you wouldn't be complaining right now!!

Mrmike2182, exactly, you just nailed it man! I am very, very happy with my note 8 because:

I am very careful about not droping it, or mistreating it
I use a case since day 1
I DISABLED a lot of useless stuff
I am extremely careful about charging/discharging levels
