Would you say that the Sony Xperia XZ is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Sony Xperia XZ exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

For a so called 2016 Flagship this phone is a major disappointment for me.
I've had two HTCs prior to this (The M8 and original One) and from a day to day usability perspective the Sony is simply not as good as my 3 Year old M8 despite being more recent technology.
- The audio quality is very poor with headphones (and without)
- For whatever reason it lags for no obvious reason - scrolling contacts, using Mail, anything.... it's just random
- The camera is surprisingly poor
- The Phone and Message apps crash more frequently than they should
- The only advantage this device has over my previous phone is the addition of a fingerprint sensor.

I have not loaded the device with useless Apps and I have disabled whatever junk ware I can which Sony provide.
The only reason I went for the Sony is that my carrier did not offer the HTC 10 so I decided to try "something different".
A lesson learned I'm afraid and I should have switched Network provider to get a phone that I would be happy with for 2 Years.

Perhaps I should install a custom ROM to gain a performance boost as I used to do with phones prior to the M8. Quite honestly I thought I was over all that and should not have to these days given the hardware specs of the device.
In Summary, a woefully poor implementation from Sony and they will not be getting my business, with respect to phones anyway, anytime in the near future.

I have the phone since October 2016 and its nothing but great - speed-wise, it still feels like a new phone, however, I am experiencing problems with the battery now, overnight the battery discharges to 20% in the morning - I have tried re-flashing the phone but that didnt help. The phone began to bend a little as well (oops).

Other than that - performance wise its still awesome, I totally recommend it - but I would step it up and go for the XZ Premium.

This phone becomes a beast only once rooted.
I can concur from my own experience - since release been using it unrooted and the phone was unspectacular. However that experience changed once rooted. It took me a few weeks to get it right but that was mainly down to the temperamental status of magisk (no more the case since v13.2.)

Use the right rom and if you know what your doing under the hood then you'll gain ~10hours sot with a blazing fast phone like mine.
Which deep sleeps like a champion.
Performance with LLJY EAS scheduler implementation takes the phone to new heights (once he actually resolves some small issues with the scheduler we can expect further performance enhancement.)

Overall it's fast but starting camera takes to long. Sometimes 3-4 sec. Since two days back the standard sms-app crashes 19 times out of 20. I've changed it to Textra instead.
Scrolling webpages with a lot of pictures(ex. newspapers) is kind of laggy. Probably because of slow loadingtimes due to 2.4 GHz Wifi.

Mine is disappointingly slow, I've owned for at least 6 months Z3,Z3c, Z2, Z1, Z1c, which was a beast, tried the z5 premium and never noticed any lag, all of them simply were beasts,

With the XZ the phone seems to be SLOW, lags at random, and RAM is at 70 usage 24/7 even with clean stock rom.

I hope this gets fixed with oreo, I used a Honor 8 and LG G5 respectively and they were faster in UI day to day usage, the only reason I moved from the Honor 8 to a LG G5 was the SD 820, and from the LG G5 to the XZ was that I am a fan of sony phones, IPXX and design.

Sadly, I am not satisfied with the speed of my phone, Ive had it for 1 week.

These "reviews" should be reset since most of them sound like bots and the latest Oreo updated changed everything, this is by far the best 16/17 device and I automatically assume that any nonsense bad complaint comes from people who can't use phones or have fakes from China.

I can second this statement, I even prefer my Z5 Compact over this - even an iPhone 5 is faster than the XZ (sad but true)

I own all the phones you mentioned and I can say that's not true, at least in Europe.
Suppose it depends how you use it
For example, on Oreo, i can't use facebook and facebook messenger before the phone becomes too slow (Even in safe mode)
Snapchat kills the phone, bluetooth kills it, location services kills it - if you use the XZ as a basic phone, to take photos and videos, occasional facebook then it will work fine for an added few minutes ;)

I can do that all day every day and still go sleep with 40% battery left, no lag and perfect battery after one year, z5c and iphone 5 start to burn during boot, but I guess it's just me being lucky or knowing how to keep a phone healthy.

Yesterday I dit a clean install of Oreo & Root & TWRP (I had unlocked bootloader obviously), same apps from Nougat, same everything, phone seems laggy. At least slower than Nougat. I can't understand why... I will try deodexing now, although I don't have high expectations for this.

PS I'm not a bot, I'm a sick Sony fanboy, not changing this device for anything, other than a XZ Premium once it gets a little cheaper.

Deodexing will only make it MUCH slower, I suggest you to get flashtool and flash a more generic FW like CE1, also keep in mind than most apps on the play store are not even optimized for Oreo (only 0.3% of devices are on the latest android) and they can slow your phone or even cause crashes just by staying in the background, search for Brevent on the Play store and choose to restrict any app which you won't need to have in the background.

Thanks dude, I thought about it as well, and yes I will stay with odex ROM, and yes, probably the CE1. ;)
